  1. He's still only 20. Sometimes players develop later.

Sir Alex always wanted youngsters to be established players by 23, and anything prior is just the development phase.

I'd give him a new contract, but if we do sell him I hope we include a buy-back clause -- Barcelona use that to great affect.

He'll probably breeze through Scottish football but signing a guy who can't get a game for Norwich is just embarrassing. Remember the days when we were signing Butcher, Gough, Amoruso etc? Fuck sake.

I don't think it's as bad as that: he's not getting a game not because he's not good enough, but because the manager prefers the style of others.

He's been average at beast for Scotland.

  3. Not a bad move. Livingstone are going well in the CH, so hopefully he can score goals at that level -- maybe overtake Dundee Utd...

I really would like to see this boy get a chance with the first-team, but the fact that so many managers have overlooked him must mean there's something holding him back. Even less chance with Cummings now too. He's still only 20, though.

I'd personally like to Naismith back, a future Kenny Miller figure in the dressing room, and a better player too. It could be Rangers wanted to see how he got on at Hearts for 6 months before deciding. After all, there's no harm in first letting him prove he can keep injury free and get match practice for 6 months, whilst at the same time giving Neil Lennon a headache :) gives us time to slim down the squad and make some room for him too. I know some will disagree but he's an excellent goalscorer, very few midfielders score as many as him.

I'm not so sure. He's more of a forward than a midfielder and barely gets more than 10 goals in a season; which is not spectacular.

Nothing wrong in seeing how he does at Hearts, and nipping in if he does well.

Do Bayern have much of a youth conveyor belt then? I thought they bought the best players from every other German club and were hated for it?

It's certainly state-of-the-art. And, I think it's good in the sense that many come through to become very good professional players for other teams, but perhaps not as many actually come through into the Bayern side; Muller, Alaba, Kroos, Hummels, Lahm and Schweinsteiger being the few -- even some of them got into the Bayern side by going elsewhere first.

I agree there will be an element of them using their financial might to dominate this area.

Sorry Frankie, I have no idea what you’re talking about regrading Twitter posts.

Positive discussions had tonight & a deal has been thrashed out to bring Greg Docherty home to his boyhood heroes in the region of £600k It will roll over into tomorrow but hopefully all going well & barring no disasters, Greg will be a Rangers player

@BEARGER Click on the Tweet and copy the URL (it will have a long number at the end of it), and paste it into this box. Like this:

  7. That's a loss for us, but I would prefer him to take the time off to recover completely; we don't want to waste that talent.

Fortunately -- or perhaps not, really, as Murty knew those two would be struggling a wee bit -- we have replacements in that area.

  8. If we're brave and there is enough movement, then we still 'should' be able to create something on the overloaded side.

Our CB's are actually good at the long ball -- Alves, and Wilson in particular, can hit a pass accurately. The short passes could work too, to switch the play.

Docherty is a different type of player to Jack: Docherty is more of a Holt, I think; energetic, attack-focused. He could be useful for using his pace and energy to run into the under-loaded side, as with Holt, Murphy, etc.
