Just watched it again on RTV. We were better than it felt at the game. Thought we really needed a creative mid but tbf we had loads of chances.

Windass missed four pretty easy chances from couple of yards, Goldson from a couple of yards the usual Morelos miss plus a couple of chances where play broke down at pivitol moments. Cut back to arfield being one that was put behind him instead of Infront plus should have had another penalty. Should have been six or seven nil and would be on another night.

We should sign their left back ndong, he only cost them 60000 euros!!

Was it not Basilio? Or is that the same guy?

I thought the same when I saw him: sign him! :D

Edit: His name is Basilio Owono, and he's a Left-winger, Left-Midfielder, Left-back. 19 years-old. It looked like he had the pace and strength to play anywhere along that flank.

Normally... or rather last season you'd be right however SG doesn't have Candeias in that position, well at least not in the two matches we've seen, its been Windass he's had there Candeias has been inside in midfield. So its Windass job to do that. Maybe SG thinks making him track and do that stuff will make him a better player or improve him somehow I don't know there is definitely more responsibility in that role than what he's used to.

I disagree: In a 4-3-3, the wide-forward shouldn't be tracking back to the FB position -- he should be tracking back a bit -- it should be the wide central midfielder (Candeias) covering.

I pay my money like every one else when I can get to the games or when I can't my RTV sub. I'm entitled to my opinion just the same as you. If you think its embarrassing that I'm not convinced fawning over an inconsistent player and I'm content to let him go then thats up to you but your opinion is no more valid than mine.

I didn't say it was. You're more than entitled to your opinion. I'm entitled to criticise it.

    I don't fawn... yes, guilty...

It was Candeias that kept the ball in play after that he slipped Tav in through two tracking defenders. if Candeias isn't lightning quick to that ball then nothing happens. Josh Windass may have made the clearance, his tracking back there is where Candeias would have been if he was playing in his normal winger role, he made many other attempts like that all night that were mopped up by the opposition and his attempts to take on the LB were laughable. Rousseau argues he was just quicker... no he wasn't he was smarter, stronger and quicker and Windass body language said it all when he was given the ball and asked to beat him... he knew he couldn't. I've had enough of Josh Windass he's a 60 grand player and will do well for his new club in league one or two down south... thanks very much and buh bye son!

You make some good points, then you just embarrass yourself.

But that's changing your own narrative :D

You had previously said you would play Windass as a "right winger" - nothing to do with where he played last night

    Pedantic Loyal :D

Did I? Oh, in response to Ian?

I think there I was just saying I like the idea of him playing right-wing, but more inside, with Middleton stretching the play on the other side.

I'd play him anywhere, to be fair. :D

It was a hopeful clearence up the line that Tav superbly managed to convert into an assist for a goal.

Tav can be a top notch player on his day and I'm glad he seems to be staying at Ibrox.

Don't really get what we have to take from this. That's a very simple and expected part of his role. Do you think he meant that pass or just hoffed it up the line?

I posted the tweet in response to rbr's point about him getting pelters for not working hard enough.

The point is he tracked back, covered for Tavernier's poor positioning and his 'pass' (admittedly a stretch) up the line resulted in a goal.

Having Windass as "right winger" rather than Candeias shows that your man-love for Windass is greater than mine for Kevin Thomson.....

    Ha!

Well, that's where he was playing last night, or more of an inside forward role -- they're not really wingers in SG's 4-3-3.

I'd have him in a central midfield three -- or anywhere, really; we should build the whole team around him, and start his statue, and hall of fame inauguration.

Will be amazed if five full minutes of decent play could be put together of him from the last two games combined. He is like running with weights round your ankles, just cause we got there doesn't mean it's the best course.

Any clip of the header he had from five yards? looked a decent save but hard to tell from where I was.

Middleton has done more in two sub appearances to attract praise and create chances.

Windass needs to bring far more to the team. In training he looks like a world beater but during games he's a passenger for 80+ minutes who thinks he's a ?.

Has he had an assist or goal yet in the games this season? Think all the others who have played in front three have, don't remember anything in the games from him but maybe blanking it out ??

Damn, that was 21 minutes after I posted. I wasn't expecting that. :roflmao:

    It was hardly a 'hoof'.

There are clips of all three (I think, or maybe two?) of his 'sitters'.

I agree; he can do more, but I'm one of the few it seems who thinks he does well now. It was a good save, but he should be scoring.

Middleton was superb when he came on, but he didn't actually do anything effectual, like Windass in that regard; but the perceptions are polar opposite. I'd just like to see some objectivity when it comes to Windass, and not just the silly 'he's a sh*t-bag' label (not saying you say this, but in general).

He got a couple of assists in the Bury game, I think, but I don't think that counts; that's pre-season.
