Is it me or is that team quite narrow? Are we expecting the full backs to provide all the width?

Maybe through the middle is the answer? Let's try some shots today please! C'mon Rangers!! Points first, performance second.

Have you watched us at all over the last 6 months? Yes, Arfield and Ojo will play inside, so the width must come from the FBs.

The Bears I got the train home with were all disappointed with the performance, Rousseau.

They can be disappointed -- I was disappointed too, although mostly with the result -- but it's a stretch to say that the second tie was "similarly concerning" as that first tie.

    Really?

Tavernier missed a penalty, and we had two goals chopped off for offside, wrongly.

We should have battered them. Very little concerned me about the home tie.

  4. Sky Sport News: Alfredo Morelos has turned down a £30M move to Chinese Super League Club Heibei Fortune.

The £30M relates to how much the player would earn, on a three year deal. Sky Sports suggest the Chinese Club were willing to match Rangers' valuation, believed to be in excess of £15M.

Sky Sports also stated that Morelos has until 5pm tonight (when the Chinese transfer window closes) to make the transfer happen.

  5. The part about the deep 8s was really well developed.

A few have questioned why we need 'three sitting midfielders', and this answers it: they're not 'sitting midfielders'; they allow for us to control the centre, break the press, play through teams, and control possession.

With the centre backs I have to admit that I simply don't know. I've put Goldson and Helander due to reputation as much as anything. Edmundson has looked the best out of the lot (by a distance on the ball) but that wasn't against strong opposition.

The centre mid  is very much a case of horses for courses, @Gaffer had a good post on this earlier in the thread. I've put Jack back in because I think Kamara's natural position is actually the deeper role which Davis is doing whereas Jack is better at bursting forward and supporting the attack, which is what we need more often than not. Docherty is brilliant at this too and should contribute very well this season when he steps in.

Ojo gets the nod alongside Arfield because despite not impressing much in his all round game he has two goals. Your job is to create and score in that position and so far Ojo has shown he can at least score.

Defoe is our best all round striker, his link up play is outstanding.

    McGregor

    Tavernier - Goldson - Helander - Barisic

    Jack - Davis - Aribo

    Ojo - Arfield

    Defoe

    I think that's spot-on.

I'd like to see Stewart, though.

  7. I'd say from the preseason games, Candeias has been the best 'wide man' - if you want to call them that, which is not quite correct.

Stewart looks classy. I think he'll be a good signing.

Jones and Ojo have shown flashes of what they can do, but not consistently. I think both will be useful this season.

Hastie looks like he'll be loaned; he looks short of what's required.

Arfield is still first choice for those positions, imo.

  8. Full-time, 1-0.

Well--from what I saw of the second half, I thought we were much the better team.

Kamara was good, Docherty was everywhere, Katic got stuck in, and Morelos was hungry.

I thought Polster was good in that DM role -  we've not seen him there before.

How did Helander do? I missed the first half.
