It was a good controlled start from us. Once we scored, I don't know if we let them have the ball or they came on to us, but we had less of it. Couple of scary moments, but for the most part ok. No real chances, but a couple of 'openings' that we didn't make the most of - Morelos passing up a shot from a good move was the best example.

The OP posted the fixtures which shows that we have an easier run, which is certainly true, I'd say. I think @Gonzo79's issue with the post is that it implies that we should be picking up more points than them, when recent history shows we tend to slip up and they don't. It's counting our chickens before they've hatched. Glass half-full, perhaps, but he's not wrong.

Liverpool and Manchester United are in talks about a bombshell plot involving Europe's biggest football clubs to join a new FIFA-backed tournament that would reshape the sport's global landscape. Sky News has learned that financiers are assembling a $6 billion (£4.6 billion) funding package to assist the creation of what could become known as the European Premier League. More than a dozen teams from England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain are in negotiations about becoming founder members of the competition. As many as five English clubs could sign up to join it, with a provisional start date said to have been discussed as early as 2022. Sources said that FIFA, football's world governing body, had been involved in developing the new format, which is expected to comprise up to 18 teams, and involve fixtures played during the regular European season. The top-placed teams in the league would then play in a knockout format to conclude the tournament, with prize money for the winners expected to be worth hundreds of millions of pounds each year. What do you mean "even Barker"? Barkerinho is the star on which our whole team must now be built! ? That's incredible, actually. -

Yes, but we have to remember that it's xG and xA, not actual goals and assists. -

Morelos clearly not taking his good chances. Hagi and Kent are in a league of their own, regarding Assist and Goals. Arfield is a surprise (not really) goal threat. Barisic is a key creator. Barker is much better than average, but not following through. Tavernier is a freak. -

I also recently saw a stat about 'key passes', or something similar: The second highest in the league was on something like 0.42 per 90, but Hagi was on 0.84!! -
I don't agree with that. Consider the budgets of Brighton and Sheffield Utd; I'd say the're comparable in budget -- perhaps even less so -- to Burnley and Palace (Palace surely have a decent budget now: they've been in the PL for ages!), but the former play in a more progressive way; they're trying to win games, playing attractive football. Then you have teams like Newcastle and West Ham, who spend a substantial amount, but are dire to watch. Bruce signed a lot of attaching talent, to still play 5-4-1! He doesn't know how to attack.

This is a difficult one. Goaldson was immense, as was Helander. I think each of the midfield three set the tone for the match; any one could get MotM. I think I'll go with Kamara: I thought he encapsulated what we did well: positionally sound, disciplined, strong in the tackle, never gave the ball away and used it well, and was not averse to driving forward with it when the situation presented itself.

Very strange season. Strange results. The Crystal Palace-Brighton game infuriated me. Brighton, again, by far the better side, with 80% possession, 90% of the chances, but Palace took the lead through a soft penalty early on (technically not an attempt). Palace did nothing, and it looked like they were going to sneak the win. I'm so pleased for Brighton to get a bit of luck. Brighton need to take their chances. Their performances deserve better results, but they need to take their chances if they're going to progress. I like Woy, but that whole approach to the game (don't lose, just defend for 90 minutes and hope you steal a goal) is just anathema to me - same with Bruce, Dyche and Moyes.

I think Katic is fourth choice, maybe even fifth, but I agree with the sentiment, @JohnMc. -

His link-up play was superb yesterday: one touch around the corner, several times, onto Tavernier or Kent. You want to see him back on the scoresheet, but he's clearly doing the job asked, IMO. (Saying that, I think Roofe replaces him when he's fit.) He lost his rag after a foul he committed - I don't know why he lost it; it was perhaps a tad late, nothing more. After that he was far too aggressive. He cooled down second half, IMO. -
I was just going to ask what time Sportscene was on!
