Morelos was certainly walking a tightrope early on, but I thought he composed himself after that yellow. He even pulled out of a few challenges, intelligently. I think I would still maybe take him off, though. This side are looking for that fight.

I had a feeling this was going to be tough. This scummy side, at this ground, with that Ref. Ugh. I wanted Morelos off early too: he looks overly aggressive, which is not bad, but that booking could have been a red and they're winding him up a bit. They're making it really tough, defending deep. It was only later in the half that we started to find space out wide, with Kent drifting wide. We need to double down on that space out wide. Itten for Morelos might suit that too, giving a more traditional target man. Should have had a penalty, or two.

Going by the GPL scores, we seem to be quite confident!

I'm not sure Itten and Defoe can bring the same thing. (Roofe can, certainly, but I think he likes the deeper position.) Itten has tended to play the wider position, which is different. He was good midweek, but it was a different style of game. Defoe can play the same role, but not every game; he's 38. I think he's more potent coming off the bench, or playing the odd game. I actually like the options we have up front; it's quite exciting.

Morelos is certainly doing things in the build-up.

I wonder how this compares to last season, or the year before? It surprises me that he's getting a lot of chances, although it has always been clear he misses a lot. Are there any other stats, around goal creation?

I think the team is no longer built around him. So, while he's perhaps not quite in form, in terms of goal-scoring, I don't think he's getting the chances he once did. However, I think his all-round game is contributing to our performances; hold-up play, running in behind, being a focus for defenders and drawing them away from our other attackers etc. He needs to be more clinical, though. He always missed quite a lot of chances. If he wants to be the main goalscorer, he'll need to be more clinical within the limits of this team's style. I don't think it's an issue, as long as he chips in and continues with his all-round game.

That Leeds-West Ham game has a Hammers win all over it, for me, unfortunately. I find my gut usually picks a PL team each year. This season it seems to be Leeds.
