  1. That's... not good. We're outnumbered in midfield, so we're forced to drop off. Even then, we're not compact enough. It's not the end of the world sitting off them, but we need to be compact. And then, we need an option to attack. I'm not convinced Hagi is the option -- maybe later on. I would actually prefer more pace, like a Barker, with Roofe up front. (Ideally, Aribo would play further forward, but I'm not sure who I'd trust in the deeper position without Arfield and Jack.)
  2. You do have a point: Helander is very good in duels. I would certainly prefer Helander today, personally, but I was just putting forth a reason for the change.
  3. I understand Hagi has been very good recently, but he's not the most physical: he gets pushed off the ball against diddy teams. So, I can understand the inclusion of Morelos and Kent. I think it's the same idea with Balogun over Helander: the former is just a bit more physical and athletic. Hagi and Helander are better than Kent and Balogun, but I think it suits this game.
  4. I could never do such a player -- nay, such a man -- justice with my crude words.
  5. The whole of January gives me the fear...
  6. Here it is... Rangers 1 - 0 Celtic FGS Morelos
  7. You were all taking the p*ss here... 11 Correct Scores, and 3 maximums!? Ugh. Correct Result (1 pt): Everyone who entered. Correct Score (3 pts): compo, TinMan, BEAR, Yorkie, Dado, WB91, BF, Bill, DJ, gaspard and r_s. Dado, blueflag and r_s take the maximum! Latest Standings:
  8. I thought that was a controlled, professional second half. Yes, we didn't create much, but we didn't need to. We let them have the ball, and we kept to a compact European shape. Why take a risk? Job done.
  9. We've changed it tactically, which is good to see, but we've not actually used it well: We weren't finding the front three at all. We've been clinical in taking our only two chances, both delivered with a huge slice of luck. St Mirren have nullified Goldson, Tavernier and Barisic, who are our main passers from the back. I think that's why we have changed it -- giving Davis more room in a deeper role -- which has worked OK, but we need to see the front three find some space.
  10. I think it's a ploy to spread St Mirren wide: Kamara and Aribo are wide, almost vacating the middle. I think Davis and the CB need to use it to get balls into the feet of the front three. We've made a situational back three too, with Davis has taken up a position between the CBs. I thought that was to give some space for Helander and Goldson (Goldson seemed to be marked closely) to pass out - because it gives St Mirren's forwards another man to press. But, it also draws the midfield on to us, hopefully creating space. The danger is, a misplaced pass could see them on us. I like the situational back three, but I'd now like to see Kamara and Aribo come narrower to cover. We're two up: we don't need to risk it.
  11. Short pass-back, Morelos through on goal, hits it low, sending the 'keeper the wrong way.
  12. First time we've got the front three into the game, and... Goal! Lucky deflection, but the intent is there.
  13. I don't like the midfield structure. Kamara and Aribo are anonymous. They could be doing it on purpose, to open up passes into the front three from the back, but Davis, Helander and Goldson are not finding them.
  14. It's just Allardyce is it not? I thought he was just wanting more time to work with his team!
  15. Thanks. Thanks... ?
  16. 15:00 kick-off? Is that right?
  17. About time they put their chances away. (Even if they got a bit of luck with the opener...)
  18. All matches are on Amazon Prime this week.
  19. St Mirren 0 - 1 Rangers FGS Roofe
