It's all stop/start. The appeal of football over rugby is that the game should just flow. If we get bogged down with appeals, var decisions, 5 subs etc etc its going to be ruined. I'd rather a couple of wrong decisions over the season than disrupting the whole game.

It's not just a couple of wrong decisions over the course of a season, though, it was a couple of times every game! (Slight exaggeration...)

But, to be honest, I just don't agree with that viewpoint: I want the correct decisions, even if it means a few stoppages. We stop every two seconds for fouls, anyway... :D

  2. I've said this before, but I would like to see teams get appeals, like Cricket and Tennis.

Say, 3, 4 or 5 appeals during a match. If you think you should have had a penalty, you appeal; win, you get the decision overturned, or lose and you lose an appeal.

  3. I can understand the time issue -- even if I do not think it's as long as people say (last week's Villa goal was the longest I've seen and I timed it at two and a half minutes, which is not excessive for a really tight call like that). It's a small price to pay for the correct decision.

Too many conflate VAR with the rules. VAR has just highlighted the issues with the rules.

And, there's still human error, going back to that Villa goal, where they were so concerned with the offside that they missed the foul in the build-up!

    The handball rule is stupid.

The offsides need work, with regards to which part of the body is used as a line.

(I wonder if they could put something in the players shirts that the technology could track, thus giving a repeatable, consistent and instant decision?)

These things are not VAR; they're the rules. It's just that now we have a way of getting to the correct result.

I don't understand why you'd want incorrect decisions over correct ones at the cost of a few seconds wait. Again, if we had VAR in last season's LC final, we may well have won it. I just can't accept the 'they won it with an illegal goal, but hey, it was a great fast-paced game'. I'm a Rangers fan; I want the right decisions.

  4. The scoreline stumped us all, I think.

  5. Liege's mid block is very difficult to play through.

In that situation we have to stretch the play, which we did a couple of times then went back to trying to force it through the impossible block!

Kent , Morelos and Roofe need to get on their bikes.

We also need to work out who marks the winger and fullback - I thought our FBs messed it up. Tavernier seemed to be marking the wingback and leaving the wingers free - same with Barisic.

  6. Really poor start from us, but I think that's more to do with Liege's approach than us - although we've taken a long time to get to grips with them, and been a bit lethargic and tame in challenges.

Our defending has been terrible. Their wingers are constantly in space.

Got out of jail at the end with the Penalty. It was a Penalty but it's harsh.

I thought we were starting to get to grips with them, and created a couple of good chances towards the end of the half.

We need to buck up defensively and find a way to play through (or over the top) them.

That may be the problem. A lot of the things they’re stopping for aren’t clear and obvious. If they were, it wouldn’t take so long to decide.

That only relates to penalties or offsides, because there is a correct and an incorrect decision, going by the letter of the law.

    VAR always gets it correct.

You can be critical of the rules -- which I am -- but VAR itself is not the issue.

  8. The disallowed Watkins goal last night is the longest I've ever seen VAR take. The ball went in at 90:47, and the decision was made at 93:13. Two and a half minutes it took them.

    They got the offside correct.

The problem was the defender was actually fouling him at the time. It should've been a penalty!

Again, VAR is not the issue, it's the rules.

It is completely human error: They're so focused on the offside, that they miss the foul!

yes and it takes a lot more than a few seconds we have had  them gawping at screens for as much as four minutes and i think it was seven times he dived so you would be happy to back the cheat

I don't think even you know what you're trying to say.

So where the hell was the VAR man last night when we had the flavour of the month man Jack Grealish going down more often than Linda Lovelace it was a disgrace warranting a booking and a sensing off

So, you don't want to wait 5 seconds on a VAR decision on a key event like an offside or penalty, but you think it should be used every time a player goes to ground?

  11. Fewer points than expected, but incredibly, we have 3 maximums!

Correct Result (1 pt): Everyone who entered.

Correct Number of Rangers Goals (1pt): Stevie, One, WB91, BHB, TB, 26th and T-1000.

FGS (2 pts): Rousseau, Yorkie, Bill, Devil, BHB, BD, Stew, TB, 26th and T-1000.

Correct Score (3 pts): One, WB91, BHB, TB and 26th.

BHB, TB and 26th take the maximum 7 points!
