  1. Why? We've got Barisic to play centre-half. Sorted.
  2. @Bill and @BlackSocksRedTops -- Lawrence, Cantwell, Dowell, Hagi, Lowry and, when the king returns, Tillman, for one or two positions. Lawrence is bottom of the list, for me; and a #10 isn't his position, he's a winger. I think you've all been duped by Lawrence because he scored a couple of goals in the 5 games he played in the league.
  3. If MB continues with the 4-3-1-2, I don't see a place for Lawrence. He won't play as the #10 over Cantwell or Dowell. Maybe if we play with two #10s, which MB has switched to in certain games (e.g. Hibs).
  4. I'm intrigued by Dowell. He was held in similar regard to Cantwell as a youngster. The difference being Cantwell has had more PL experience. Another technical #10.
  5. When you say '[Butland has] had an ok career, but he's a Championship level keeper with an iffy injury record', you really are diminishing his ability to make a point. However, I don't disagree with your general point in the post I was referencing.
  6. That was OK when every player did the same thing in a given position, but positions are specialised now. Two forwards can be chalk and cheese in terms of style, yet both can be best for a team that suits them. Take Joelinton. Superb at Hoffenhiem as a link-up, target man, but never a goalscorer. Newcastle take him and play him as a goal scoring number 9 and he's useless. Then Howe drops him deeper, as a link-up player - nearer to what he did best at Hoffenheim - and he's a revelation.
  7. John is diminishing Butland's ability to make a point. In truth, Butland was a superb 'keeper; one of the best in the PL. He then takes a dip in form just before Covid and an injury that messes up the next year or two. Crystal Palace sign him for competition, but they did have Gaita as 1st, who is, again, one of the best in the PL. Then Man Utd take him as back-up - he wasn't ever expected to displace DeGea - which is another positive, IMO, because Man Utd wouldn't take rubbish. He's not a Championship 'keeper, he's a PL 'keeper. The issue is wages.
  8. If you click on the wee man at 12 votes, and count up who voted, it's actually 13 people, so 19 members. What's wrong is the 12 votes. Which still doesn't match up. Interesting. I've never noticed.
  9. Southampton have made a move for Swansea manager Russel Martin.
  10. If it's a floated ball, he should be catching; if it's a whipped ball, he should be punching.
  11. What are your thoughts, folks?
  12. Rangers 1 - 0 Hearts FGS Cantwell
  13. Just put him through some punching drills over the summer. I much prefer him to come. At least we have a chance, then. Like I said on the match thread, I thought McCrorie learned: He tried to catch the first couple of corners, which is difficult and he couldn't catch them, and then he started to flap at them, which is better than failing to catch it. Get him punching.

  15. Some good scores, but @buster. pulls away a little. It looks like a two-horse race going into the final two games. Correct Result (1 pt): Everyone who entered. Correct Number of Rangers Goals (1pt): One, Bill, Lenny, Stewarty, 26th, Ian, MacK and buster. FGS (2 pts): SBG, Lenny, Dado, Ted, buster and r_s. Correct Score (3 pts): One, Bill, 26th, Ian and MacK. Latest Standings:
  16. What a save. That shot almost justified his hair colour.
  17. Lowry is trying to beat everyone. Pick your battles, son.
