I am happy with the approach, although I would agree we haven't quite got it right in terms of our core targets, as I said above. In fairness, I believe there were more immediate objectives (reducing wage bill, reducing squad age, etc.) that have taken priority this season, as NK outlined - part of the reason why I had written it off. I'm hopeful we'll see improvement in this area in the summer.

Koppen has mentioned it a couple of times. I can't recall style, but there were three categories of players ('The recruitment strategy will continue to focus on a balance of core, investment, and impact players'), that would mix youth and experience. Jefte, Nsiala, Fernandes and Igamane are projects and investments. Cerny and Propper are impact players; quality or experience to give the team a boost. Propper may have been a personal contact but still fits the profiles outlined. Scots, like Barron, Souttar, Kelly, Cameron are more core players and investments. The plan is to sign at least one Scot a year, IIRC? Core players would be Diomande, Bajrami, Kasanwirjo, Kelly maybe? I've been happy with the general approach, but I have been critical of the lack of first-team players of quality.

"[Nils Koppen] clarified that this would mean we recruit towards a club blueprint of player and playing style, and not towards the style of any given coach or manager."

Thought this deserved its own thread.

Apparently this is from the fan board minutes before the Queen's Park defeat.

I agree. It's not about getting 'top tier', it's about getting a decent coach. It's a similar view to those saying we can't afford to replace Bassey because we sold him for £20m. He cost nothing.
-
I think I also read that he wants a big backroom staff to come with him, which has put a few clubs off.

STOP SAYING IT!

Brian Priske has just been sacked by Feyenoord. Just... You know.

Roger Schmidt is out of work. Just saying...

I wasn't judging. He's only 20.

I think the 'auld yins' have taken my 9.5 comment in jest, which it partly was, but there is a 9.5 position, usually called second-striker. It's used to describe those forwards that are not quite either/or. I think second-striker is a suitable label for Igamane.

9.5.

What are your thoughts, folks?

It's a pointless question. Emotive, fan nonsense. What's he going to say, 'Aye, alright, I'm off - keep the money'? It reminds me of the great Timplosion of '21. Oh, how we laughed. But now it's 'legitimate questions'. It's not for me.
-
It's a rant. He's just playing to the Rangers das on Twitter. It's a professional setting; at least act like it.
-
I thought you just really wanted to make the point! (I deleted the doubles.)

That's embarrassing from Stevie (4LADS), IMO. Cringe...
