The cheek of some players...ie. Keith Lasley
stewarty replied to Max Rebo's Big Blue Nose's topic in Rangers Chat
Ach, Lasley is the least of our worries. They played well last season to be the next cab at the rank. Its not their fault we are ineligble to play in Europe. -
Hearts plead with fans to buy tickets as SPL faces life without Rangers
stewarty replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
If I were a Hearts fan I would be reconsidering my ST renewal given their circumstances. They've faced several winding up orders, the embarassment of not being able to pay staff and player wages on several occassions, their owner saying he wants out, and many other things, not least them losing some of their best players to an SFL3 team. -
They'll still have zombie Rangers, old sevco, new sevco, etc to power wank over.

I agree with most of the points here. But the trouble is that Celtic are far more organised and forthright in defending themselves. Right down to making statements about not making statements, they in effect get the result they want. With regards to child abuse, they have a pavlovian response on the issue, along the BJK chants; which stifles any meaningful debate and ensures that media types run a mile from discussing it.

Whats the comparison of ST sales compared with previous seasons. Unless they are more than their highest point in say the past 3/4 seasons, hell f*****g mend them. -
Lucrative English football league could be opening up for Rangers
stewarty replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Although I would admit to being no expert in technical legal matters, I'm not sure I think his argument stacks up. By comparison, broadcasting tends to be restricted to territorial areas. There are exceptions: like Welsh clubs playing in England, you have the ability to pick up BBC channels in areas of the continent (ref: Pete)). Sky, the Beeb, and any other broadcaster are free to set up their own channels/networks in other territories providing they meet the licensing criteria of said territory. The Beeb, or whomever, cannot just decide they will move lock stock to another country because they think it will be more lucrative or if they fall out with their peers. And I can't imagine ITV saying that they are withdrawing from providing services to the UK and will instead begin broadcasting in France, whilst continuing to broadcast from London. Now, I've come up with a half-hearted and probably (deeply) flawed reason why we can't move to London in the space of about 4 minutes. Imagine what a skilled barrister would do with a team of researchers seeking legal precedent? -
You are ignoring so many mitigating factors im not even sure it's worth spelling them out. I guess some people are hard to please.
-
That doesn't even make sense. See my post above. Criticism of the team and ally are NOT what is required at this time. Whatever your views on the team, save it for now please.
-
Ah, right. So are we to ignore all reasonable argument for the sake of bumping our gums. Criticism of the team, our tactics, players, the manager, etc; are fine. But now is not the time. You have seriously misjudged your timing.

Did you fall asleep on 13 Feb and just wake up?

Sorry but that is just naive nonsense, bordering on trolling.

2 of our players have only had a couple of days training. None of these players have had anything like the number of pre-season matches as they would normally have. Rusty is an understatement. Gonnae drop the negative stuff please troops? At least for now...

This will go into tomorrow. Guaranteed. In fact, I can see the game not going ahead. If it doesn't, I hope the SPL get a heavy kicking. In fact, I hope they get one anyway.

I just want to see us play football. The rest is pantomime until Green gets the offer he can't refuse.

Apologies for the typos, i posted that from my phone.

Thanks for another thought provoking post Andy! I debated this point on twitter. I argued a that it didn't make sense for us to request these proceedings are dropped as part of the bargaining for with the SFA. If we are innocent then we have nothing to fear and are therefore giving up something that, in terms of sanctions, has no value. We would be better then to use something else if we are to gain out of it. Perhaps then this is an admission of guilt, even on a technicality? However, I am far from convinced of our guilt. There has been no clear evidence as far as I have seen, other than a letter of comfort from the club with regards to an EBT. However, I take the point made in the thread about the likelihood of receiving a fair hearing on the matter. And I think given the way the SFA disciplinary tribunal system found us guilty as sin over Craig Whyte's conduct, ignoring almost all mitigating evidence, who could blame anyone for thinking that? Another argument I read was about this being used to flush out the opinion of the SPL and SFA. If they don't think they can make the case stack up, maybe they will appear to concede this in their negotiations knowing that they are going up something with no value. Once we see their hand we then change the goalposts and refuse to agree to it. There are flaws in this argument, but I think there are flaws in the view that we are seriously negotiating for the investigation to be dropped. Ultimately we are being fed little bits of information and drawing conclusions that we camt verify as yet. Perhaps we are all being naive?

I'm sure the business case for its continuation would need to be evaluated but I would argue that a quality product would have survived. With a bit of ingenuity, real radio could have bid for the rights to commentary for games, done SFL phone ins, etc. this would have maintained interest, arguably could draw in new listeners, etc. The simple fact is that it was a laughably poor show, with little insight to keep regular listeners interested. The same inane banter only goes so far.

Needs must at the end of the day. It's an opportunity for some of these guys to join a club of our stature. Or at least, our stature when we return to top flight football. You never know, one or two of them might become fan favourites on the way.
-
Fine words. Yet again the SFA are shown to be duplicitous in almost everything they say and do.

How funny would it be if Celtic don't even qualify for the group stages?
