  1. I just hope SFL1 clubs don't have their heads turned by Lawwell's promise of ££ Seems to me that the reality is, regardless of whether Longmuir, Regan and Doncaster talk of discussing the relative merits of each proposal, that the SFL hold the aces. I'd go further, Rangers hold the aces. Green will not sign over our media rights again like he did this season. Green, our largest shareholder and CEO, will not take our club back to the SPL in its current form. To me, all this points to Longmuir being the Kingmaker, as has been recently blogged (on CRO, I think). The SPL is a busted flush. When are the next TV rights installments due???
  2. Well said that man. Nailed quite a few points very well.
  3. If they try, I expect Big Chuck will have something to say about it. Hopefully, and not least, instructing m'learned friends to take action. Well past due, IMO
  4. I'm not quite believing this, for what its worth. I know he's indicated a change of career, but what does a time-served hack know about Marketing and PR?
  5. According to Andy Muirhead of Scotzine.... Seems to be gathering pace this rumour. Saw Martin Williams of the Herald tweet something about it earlier.
  6. In fairness, I'm sure they did agree deals with Whyte in regards to the Wee Tax Case and PAYE, which he didn't stick to. But yeah, they knocked back a deal on the Big Tax Case.
  7. Any legal minded peeps on this board who can perhaps clarify what is meant by "seek permission to appeal"? Does this mean they have to apply to the Court of Session to query ask a judge to rule on whether they have sufficient grounds, i.e. on a point of law, with which to appeal?
  8. Why do you say that?
  9. I signed last night. Good work guys.
  10. Seems unlikely this is actually the Rangerstaxcase blogger, but perhaps someone who has posted offensive material on some of his blogs? Even that seems unlikely as it would be a needle in a haystick type thing.
  11. Arrest over 'offensive' online Rangers tax case material It was announced on Tuesday that Rangers had won the case A man has been arrested in connection with allegations that offensive material had been posted online relating to the Rangers tax case. Strathclyde Police said a 37-year-old from Glasgow had been arrested on Thursday by the national Football Co-ordination Unit. He had attended Helen Street police office by arrangement. A spokesman for the force said that a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal. It was announced on Tuesday that the former Rangers Football Club had won its appeal against a tax bill over its use of Employee Benefit Trusts. The club, which is now in liquidation, used the scheme from 2001 to 2010 to make £47.65m in payments to players and staff in the form of tax-free loans. HM Revenue and Customs had challenged the payments, but a First Tier Tax Tribunal (FTT) ruled the payments were loans that can be repaid.
  12. *like* This will be keeping us amused for a while.
  13. Its a bittersweet but beautiful day.
  14. Compare and contrast with Michael Grant's piece in today's Herald:
  15. For the record, I am not against anyone being critical of Green. I'm offering the counter-argument that he is not necessarily the big bad wolf that some may feel he is.
  16. How has he signed away any influence we have? Blaming others is easy when there are so many who are to blame. I'd argue there is plenty of evidence to show that he made business decisions at crucial times in order to protect the club's value to its investors. That isn't bottling it, its business.
  17. Green may have blinked first in order to get the team on the park. But that was the best way for him to protect and enhance the return for investors. If he could prove that we were forced to agree to certain conditions under duress, I'd say Green has a handle on the long game here.
  18. Do we actually know this for sure? I'd agree that the rights are sold on behalf of the league but as members and star draw of said league, I'd imagine we have a certain amount of influence.
  19. I sense another article coming on, G!
  20. I'm not sure i understand your point. As for Adidas, he admitted to advance negotiations with them and a couple of other kit manufacturers. If we don't go with them would that be a broken promise, or just the result of a negotiation process where a business decision is taken?
  21. I think Green has delivered quite a bit of what he said he will. Not everything will happen overnight and not everything will pan out the way it was intended.
  22. I can't believe we haven't taken the SFA and SPL to court already. It's all very well making a lot of noise as Green has been, but we need to start tying them up in legal actions as they seem to want to chance their arm with yet more ridiculous punishments.
  23. Thought the Times article was a pretty transparent attempt to sensationalise a story by exaggerating the link to Rangers. They knew full well that was the way to maximise the article's exposure.
  24. I really despair with this guy. He seems to think because he adds a sentence in about this being only a minority that he can continually refer to all this underclass stuff. There's no balance in his reporting and he makes no attempt to explore the other side of the story. I wonder if Mad Phil has another blog about the Klan in the offing... *whistles*
