James Traynor - The £500k question: Why did Hearts KO Ranger?
stewarty replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Compare and contrast with Michael Grant's piece in today's Herald: -
For the record, I am not against anyone being critical of Green. I'm offering the counter-argument that he is not necessarily the big bad wolf that some may feel he is.
-
How has he signed away any influence we have? Blaming others is easy when there are so many who are to blame. I'd argue there is plenty of evidence to show that he made business decisions at crucial times in order to protect the club's value to its investors. That isn't bottling it, its business.
-
Green may have blinked first in order to get the team on the park. But that was the best way for him to protect and enhance the return for investors. If he could prove that we were forced to agree to certain conditions under duress, I'd say Green has a handle on the long game here.
-
Do we actually know this for sure? I'd agree that the rights are sold on behalf of the league but as members and star draw of said league, I'd imagine we have a certain amount of influence.

I sense another article coming on, G!
-
I'm not sure i understand your point. As for Adidas, he admitted to advance negotiations with them and a couple of other kit manufacturers. If we don't go with them would that be a broken promise, or just the result of a negotiation process where a business decision is taken?
-
I think Green has delivered quite a bit of what he said he will. Not everything will happen overnight and not everything will pan out the way it was intended.
-
I can't believe we haven't taken the SFA and SPL to court already. It's all very well making a lot of noise as Green has been, but we need to start tying them up in legal actions as they seem to want to chance their arm with yet more ridiculous punishments.
-
Thought the Times article was a pretty transparent attempt to sensationalise a story by exaggerating the link to Rangers. They knew full well that was the way to maximise the article's exposure.
-
I really despair with this guy. He seems to think because he adds a sentence in about this being only a minority that he can continually refer to all this underclass stuff. There's no balance in his reporting and he makes no attempt to explore the other side of the story. I wonder if Mad Phil has another blog about the Klan in the offing... *whistles*

Craig Whyte seems to be saying: if I'm going down, you lot are coming with me. -
Conduct of Sir David Murray, Craig Whyte and Rangers directors examined

I'd imagine the tests for criminality and that of unfit conduct of a director would be different. I don't doubt the precendence of the Crown Office/Police but am not sure why both could not be progressed at the same time with the sharing of information/evidence gathered. -

http://www.bis.gov.uk/insolvency/Companies/insolvent-companies/how-are-company-directors-investigated I'd imagine the results of either investigation will inform the other. I may be wrong though. -

There are statutory obligations that have to be met - e.g. the report into Directors has to be carried out within specifc time periods. -
Seems to have been rumours circulating from the weekend that the parties have now been informed. With regards to the rumoured outcome - i.e. we win some, lose some; I spoke to a tax expert who confirmed to me about 6 months ago that FTT outcomes increasingly rule on individual cases rather than applying a ruling to an entire tax avoidance vehicle. Just a waiting game now, but it certainly puts the fact that Whyte resurfaced last week into context.

I can't claim credit for it. http://spacegirlgail.wordpress.com/

Whyte's attempts at PR are so transparent. The reason for him raising his head becomes all the more clearer.. What a cuntpuffin.

I'm not sure the BBC would be able to force Whyte to do an interview. More likely that Whyte is behind it all, and Pacific Quay CSC are no doubt falling over backwards to "help".
