No directly attributable quotes so not overly worried about this being anything other than a normal negotiation process. i.e. a game of offer, counter-offer, bluff and double-bluff. However, I would would be absolutely astonished if Alexander rejected our final offer if he is indeed on £10k-12k per week. Where else is he going to get anything like that kind of money? It would be a massive gamble on his part to assume that he would.

SFA tell Dundee United they canâ??t do anything about Rangers cup boycott
stewarty replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
The rules were pretty clear. I await the clamour for them to be changed by the usual suspects. -
Stick me down for the next montrose game. With the shenanigans in the programme today, I fancy that might have an extra edge.

That wouldn't be my comment. Opinion is fine. See my previous post. -

Some choose to focus on the negatives. I'll look at the positives. Everyone's a winner -

Not this again *facepalm* -
It is wholly owned by the group. See page 104(ish) of the IPO prospectus.

When negotiating a truce, it is normal for both parties to set out their terms. Perhaps as fans we can set out our terms. There was a good start to it on another thread: 1) Drop SPL Commission 2) Formal apology 3) Pay us the prize monies and associated funds held by the SFA/SPL (supposedly) on our behalf. Maybe then we wont be so easily agitated.

Ooft, the frothers will be getting very frothy at the sight of that!

So UEFA want regulation backed up in statute, yet wont allow football clubs to seek appropriate redress through civil courts if and when they see fit? You couldn't make this shit it up.

Where do We Draw the Line & When Does it Come to an End?
stewarty replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
I think that approach would likely attract some sort of legitimate claim from United. To accept an allocation but deliberately avoid selling any tickets, would be to deprive United unfairly of the chance to sell the tickets to their own fans. In any case, I'm all for the boycott. I don't see it as something that will continue long term. This is about sending a message to the rest of Scottish football that we are back, we are stronger than you and we wont be pissed around any longer. -
I just hope SFL1 clubs don't have their heads turned by Lawwell's promise of ££ Seems to me that the reality is, regardless of whether Longmuir, Regan and Doncaster talk of discussing the relative merits of each proposal, that the SFL hold the aces. I'd go further, Rangers hold the aces. Green will not sign over our media rights again like he did this season. Green, our largest shareholder and CEO, will not take our club back to the SPL in its current form. To me, all this points to Longmuir being the Kingmaker, as has been recently blogged (on CRO, I think). The SPL is a busted flush. When are the next TV rights installments due???

Well said that man. Nailed quite a few points very well.

If they try, I expect Big Chuck will have something to say about it. Hopefully, and not least, instructing m'learned friends to take action. Well past due, IMO

I'm not quite believing this, for what its worth. I know he's indicated a change of career, but what does a time-served hack know about Marketing and PR?

According to Andy Muirhead of Scotzine.... Seems to be gathering pace this rumour. Saw Martin Williams of the Herald tweet something about it earlier.

In fairness, I'm sure they did agree deals with Whyte in regards to the Wee Tax Case and PAYE, which he didn't stick to. But yeah, they knocked back a deal on the Big Tax Case.

Any legal minded peeps on this board who can perhaps clarify what is meant by "seek permission to appeal"? Does this mean they have to apply to the Court of Session to query ask a judge to rule on whether they have sufficient grounds, i.e. on a point of law, with which to appeal?
-
Why do you say that?

I signed last night. Good work guys.

Arrest over 'offensive' online Rangers tax case material
stewarty replied to stewarty's topic in Rangers Chat
Seems unlikely this is actually the Rangerstaxcase blogger, but perhaps someone who has posted offensive material on some of his blogs? Even that seems unlikely as it would be a needle in a haystick type thing. -
Arrest over 'offensive' online Rangers tax case material It was announced on Tuesday that Rangers had won the case A man has been arrested in connection with allegations that offensive material had been posted online relating to the Rangers tax case. Strathclyde Police said a 37-year-old from Glasgow had been arrested on Thursday by the national Football Co-ordination Unit. He had attended Helen Street police office by arrangement. A spokesman for the force said that a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal. It was announced on Tuesday that the former Rangers Football Club had won its appeal against a tax bill over its use of Employee Benefit Trusts. The club, which is now in liquidation, used the scheme from 2001 to 2010 to make £47.65m in payments to players and staff in the form of tax-free loans. HM Revenue and Customs had challenged the payments, but a First Tier Tax Tribunal (FTT) ruled the payments were loans that can be repaid.
