When I think about environments I've worked in myself, it is generally the case that if you do a good or even reasonable job, and have a good attitude; then people are prepared to make allowances for the odd indiscretion. However, if you are not performing then most organisations will take advantage of opportunities to get shot of you if they come around, or you are stupid enough to allow to happen. When you consider that Sandaza is one of our highest earners, and that he has been found wanting in almost all aspects of his Rangers career, its no surprise to see him gone. But picking up on other recent departures, it strikes me that communication from the club is yet again the issue. If Green was more transparent about the club's on and off field strategies, we would be clearer about the objectives in play. As we have observed this season, there is a lot of dead wood at the club that we desperately need to get rid of. In the past we've been hamstrung with players on high contracts that no-one else wants, so we get lumbered with a squad-filling players who are happy to sit on the bench picking up overly inflated wages (a generalisation, I agree). We'd be hear for hours coming up with the list of them. Time and again we've been frustrated to hear of big pay-offs negotiated by Martin Bain just to get these players off the books. However I'm not entirely sure the dealings we have seen in the last week or two will be symptomatic of the future. In any takeover or re-structuring situation there are often difficult decisions to be taken. These can result in people feeling unfairly treated, and probably with some justification. So we must not allow some short-term setbacks or bad situations to colour our overall opinion. Which brings us back to Mr Green. He needs to sit out the club's long term strategies to the fans. Not just official fan reps, but to all supporters. Only then will we understand why certain decisions have been taken. If Green thinks our scouting needs to be revampted and there's a need to bring in someone to do that, so be it. If Green thinks our Physio's personality or work isn't up to standard, so be it. If Green thinks that a highly paid striker has breached his contract and has to go rather than have to pay him off, then so be it. We can all agree or disagree with those individual decisions. But until Green allows us to understand his thought process and get behind his strategy, the lack of transparency will only bring further disquiet and rumour. This applies not only to staffing decisions but also our communications and media strategies too. Its time Mr Green stepped and played a different and more transparent game.

Cheeky bar steward! But aye, okay!

Can I do the Linfield game?
-
He gets to the end of next season for me. After that, all bets are off unless we see a marked improvement in on-field matters.

Getting harder and harder to say anything else.

Turgid stuff on once again. End of the season can't come quick enough.

Kevin Kyle says he's proud of his achievments with Rangers.......

He managed 4 consecutive starts, or something. He hasn't done that since he was 12. -
Very thought provoking AMMS, cheers! Whether its a club or not a club, its the ethos and the culture that needs to change. It seems we've talked about some of these different models before. When you look at some continental systems, they firstly place emphasis on agility and technique at a younger age, with the knowledge that strength and athleticism can be added when older. They also take ownership of a young players football and non-football development and provide schooling a tuition. I've heard about continental youngsters being told that if they don't take their studies as equally serious as their football, they wont play in games and place their future with the club in doubt.

This is just laying down the marker to SPL and SFL clubs ahead of their votes. We don't have the influence of a seat at the table so this sets out our position very clearly. In my view, the only sensible course of action is to merge league bodies and agree the financial redistribution model as phase 1 (in time for next year). With phase 2 kicking off over the summer to agree a suitable league structure for the start of 2014/15, giving due consideration for all options and consultation with all clubs and fan bodies. But how often does common sense actually prevail?

Richard Wilson - Herald - Serious Questions Need Answers
stewarty replied to chilledbear's topic in Rangers Chat
Its a sign of the times when we are congratulatory over an article that is blanced and fair, albeit with a few "sources say" and "we understand that" type comments thrown in. Very interesting though. The Hearts situation will have a big impact on any financial decisions methinks. Just watch if they go into administration and are deducted 17 points, putting them into the relegation slot. -
Basically, both clubs do it. That was never more evident than on Saturday because there was no way that there were 44.5k of us at Ibrox. Saying that, its fun to poke Timmy with the Green Seat Brigade chat. If it wasn't for their CL revenues this season, their drop in attendances would have had a bigger effect. In fact, I'd be interested to see their season ticket sales next season given the way they shafted their fans over prices when they knew we were being voted out of the SPL.

The way this has come out, I suspect Daly's agent or Dundee United have had a hand in it. Why else would the BBC get wind of such information? The agent will be trying to maximise the salary for Daly, and hopefully get a cut of any signing-on fees. And Dundee United will either be unable to to offer Daly the contract he deserves or is demanding, so by publicising our interest, they might alert other clubs to this so as to try and prevent him coming to us. I refuse to underestimate the petty-mindedness of Specky Thompson.

Happy enough with Puma. Presumably the deal will upscale as we move up the leagues. Only thing that worries me slightly is the extent to which we are getting into bed with Mike Ashley. Not that I have a problem with him per se, more that we did everything through SDM's group of companies during his reign and I'd like to see us diversify a little to mitigate the risks in the over-reliance on one key relationship. Especially when fans start putting up banners such as they did last week.

Blow for Cowdenbeath as Rangers recall Kane Hemmings
stewarty replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
I'd like to see Kane and Little start up top tomorrow. I live in hope. -
Always preferred Blackthorn to Magners anyway.... Well, that's what I'm saying now anyways.

On the point of BDO, and maybe someone with Insolvency legislation knowledge could help [note to any Timmy lurkers - that means you!]? For example, oldco is in liquiidation and no longer is owner of rangers football club. Therefore, why should it recognise the fine imposed by a trade body for which it no longer has any dealings with?
-
Well said by Big Chuck. Wonder what BDO have got to say for themselves.
-
Oh dear. We don't know if he has signed or not. I agree that the likelihood of Green being involved in negotiations is relatively small. Most likely is, if we have dealt him in, its been done through Andrew Dickson and Ally.
-
I dont think any concerns raised by otherwise credible sources will be disregarded off hand. It will be debated and discussed here and on other forums/sites extensively.
-
Its easy to say that in hindsight. My guess is that, for probably a number of reasons, his appointment didn't work out. Happens all the time.
-
Was he though? I don't recall many having an issue with his appointment. For all that I could see, and most people when he was appointed, he certainly had the credentials and experience to carry out the Chairman role.
-
Agree with the sentiment but we should expect some semblance of balance from the national broadcaster. It's what they are supposed to be about.
-
Guess the bottom line is that sometimes people don't get along. And if there are other issues with regards to "indiscretions" then it's reasonable to be taking the steps that seem to be in motion. The issue is then about the unity of the remaining board and ensuring there are appropriate checks and balances, particularly with regards to scrutinising Green's performance. That for me will be the key concern as we can never again get into a position where an individual can ride roughshod over the rest of the Board.

The Herald's story is from the normally reliable Richard Wilson. I'd wager there's more to it than rumour.
-
That's all ifs, buts and unsubstantiated opinion. No SFA license means no games. Which means no income and no club. There isn't any more to it.
