BBC Scotland and SPL agree 3-year deal incl. Rangers games
stewarty replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
I wonder what our share of this is? 50p and a Sherbert Dib-dab for the season? -
No arguments from me. Well done lads. Onwards and upwards, etc etc.

Blue, I think. *helpful face*

Nothing would surprise me RR

According to the BBC just there, its a cherry picking of the areas of the SPL proposals that are acceptable to all. Single league body, financial redistribution and play offs it seems are back in play. Whilst the 12-12-18 is off the table. Funny how cherry picking was something abhorrent at the actual vote.

That's if a court action is actually raised. And based in Whyte's legal track record, I'm not overly worried at this time.

maybe no-one in the media was taking his calls because he had no proof and it was therefore a pointless exercise? Also claimed that he was right all along, and he may yet be proved right in some of the things he said, but i felt Bomber didn't do himself any favours at the time, and I'm still of the same opinion.

Radical Fiscal Changes required at Ibrox: Who's got the Stomach for it?
stewarty replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
Reflecting on this piece, which was excellent (cheers Zappa, pal), I thought back to my post a few weeks ago regarding the need for Green to set out clearly his strategies beyond sound bites and apparently strange decisions. Seems to me, that Green was simply working his ticket rather expertly. And bringing it back full circle, what skills and experience does Craig Mather have to carry out an extensive value for money review of the club, and the inevitable cuts that would ensue? I'm not convinced. -
I honestly can't see the need for a COO and a CEO. We're not a big enough company, I'd suggest. Simply underlines the fact it's a political appointment to appease certain factions within the boardroom. Or rather, those who are voting in proxy to the interests of shareholders.
-
So his appointment as COO is permanent?

If true, suggests there may be other errors in this disclosure.

SPL secretary to 'have a look' at whether league rules can be suspended

As Chris Graham's blog has just said, why would we trust the SFA? No-one trusts them to act with integrity or transparency, so why are they better placed to address the issues? -

Good work from Chris Graham again. The podcast of last night's Sportsound was indeed well worth a listen. Gilmour certainly dispelled some of the immediate myths being put forward by the 'virtuous 10' who voted for Monday's proposals. Namely, the concession on the table was an after-thought which tinkered around the edges in an attempt to strong-arm the vote. Cowardly BS from the SPL once again. Quelle surprise. -
Green not too keen on Miller - says the Express
stewarty replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
If we have an overall objective of trying to bring in some younger players with a view to developing them and making gains on their sale, I have no problem if that means that we need a few seasoned professionals to act as role-models who can help the development process. That wont stop the usual negativity, weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth if Miller does come back though. Its a pavlovian response for many. -
Fair play to Roy McGregor and the Ross County Board. They said what they'd do - i.e. listen to their fans, management and Board. They've stated their objections well in advance and the SPL have clearly done nothing to change their mind. Hell mend the SPL. Doncaster's resignation should be the first matter of business after the vote.

I couldn't see much wrong with Forysth's piece.

I think the club needs to do more than deal with these issues in private. Otherwise more and more supporters, investors and sponsors are likely to get twitchy.

John Gow - Time for Rangers and Green to part company
stewarty replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I will, but I don't think its a case of me saying "I told you so", or "I got it wrong". Its me giving my opinion based on my interpretation of the situation. -

Its not about the length of time, its about the job ahead and who is the best fit. -

I've said on twitter, and in person a few times since, that Green has to go. This was my immediate reaction to his "paki" jibes when I first read them late on Saturday night, and I stick by it. Its no bandwagon, its how I feel. All things considered, we needed a Green-type figure. The street-fighter description that has been used is a good one; someone who will scrap and fight dirty where necessary. Someone who would stand up for what he believed in and wasn't afraid to speak his mind. For the most part, I've been behind what he has said, and I have been prepared to forgive some of his half-truths because he was actually delivering the big-ticket items that he said he would. But I simply cannot fathom why his press statements and poor judgement seem to have escalated so much in the space of the last week other than to say his ego seems to be out of control. We need someone now who can help us through the growth and regeneration phase. Green may well be someone that in other circumstances could do the job well, but he's made too many enemies and got his hands too dirty along the way. As I said, much of this was absolutely necessary but we need a safer pair of hands to take us forward from here. Green must go. -
Fair enough to St Mirren. They've consulted internally, and with their fans. They've had concerns which haven't been addressed which they feel are fundamental. Yet still Doncaster and the like say its imperative we accept flawed concepts as a package of measures as thats the only way to get the things we can all agree on. There is going to be a lot of people with egg on their face if St Mirren et al hold firm. And I can't wait!
-
Wouldn't surprise me if this was leaked to ramp up the pressure on both chairmen. And I must say, as ever, the level of misinformation and cliched debate over the whole thing is staggering. Yet again it's an all or nothing mentality that none of the games powerbrokers, or those in favour, can give a rational explanation for. It stinks.
-
Disagree. The strategy can be to very high level. It doesn't need to give specifics. However, he's had almost a year now to do review things. We've waited long enough. I'm hoping the SPL/SFL stuff along is one of the main distractions to this happening just yet. Perhaps they also just want to get this season out the way. But the longer he waits the louder the whispers will get.

What is the story though?
