  1. I didn't make it in the end for family reasons, but sounds like a good night had by all. When's the next one?
  2. Apologies, this is off topic... Can't remember his name, but he's the MD of Babcock Marine (or similar) who operate the Faslane naval base. The CBI have been forced to register as a campaigning organisation for Better Together by the electoral commission having come under pressure from a pro Indy group Business for Scotland. It seems there are a lot of questions being asked of the CBI in terms of clarity over their Scottish membership, to what extent they have consulted with its members before producing articles and opinions on their behalf. They've also been putting themselves forward as a neutral organisation, despite the appearances to the contrary. Ergo, the organisation and their Chairman are under a lot of scrutiny at the moment. And a lot of their members are resigning because they are no longer neutral. This includes several government bodies, universities and some commercial entities who have neutral stances and don't want this compromised through association with the CBI given its electoral commission registration.
  3. The UoF expands on my first thoughts nicely. Something like this was entirely expected. Sadly, the usual suspects will lap it up and we will be mired in squabbles, as I suspect is the intention of the statement.
  4. It would be expert timing actually. The Chair of CBI Scotland is getting a bit of a pounding at the moment...
  5. "We don't want to go back to the dark days of administration. Everything is a possibility at the moment..." (Mr Easdale) I may have taken this out of context as I am quoting from the BBC article and didn't hear the actual interview (I don't think so, though), but it seems pretty clear that he's warning of administration 2 if we don't renew season tickets. I presum this has been notified and disclosed to AIM given that its clearly price sensitive information. No doubt our NOMAD will clarify soonest.
  6. If he has played unders for Scotland he must have a reasonable pedigree. A short term contract sounds ideal to see if it will work out for us both. Welcome, young man!
  7. Seems to me there's a mix of three key reasons why we're churning out such mediocrity. 1) Ally and his management team have significant question marks against them in terms of their ability to coach and develop players. 2) The players seem to be coasting as they've known for some time that the league has been won. Some of our early season performances were actually quite decent. 3) Our players are just not as good as those we are used to. For all his perceived/actual flaws, I don't see Ally leaving until he's at least had a crack at the top league and under "normal" conditions. However, these question marks will not magic themselves away any time soon. That said, when I compare the squad this season, with last, I see a far fitter and more organised side that has performed to a much more consistent level. We've scored 3/4 goals per game and not been beaten in the league. Clearly the main focus of pre-season was to improve the fitness of the squad, which was severely lacking last year. Next season's evolution will be intriguing.
  8. Thanks BH. I was hoping to get along last night, but had family commitments. When is the next meeting?
  9. By coincidence, @Gri64 on twitter said last night that he had emailed a copy of the TRS article to Colin Kingsnorth to ask for a comment. His reply was along the lines that it was easy enough to withdraw the loan if better terms were on offer elsewhere. I await further developments...
  10. Interesting tactics from King. Essentially he seems to be driving the agenda with some fresh comments every day or so. This constantly puts the club on the back foot, having to respond to King. It also doesn't leave much time for some of the Board's favoured outlets to start running interference.
  11. This is eerily familiar. The urgency of the £1.5m loan now makes perfect sense.
  12. In addition to the valid concerns already voiced on this thread, and being the sceptical sort, the bit that peaked my interest was how the use of Daniel Stewart, our Nominated Advisor (NOMAD), somehow validated the reasons for apparently ignoring other sources of finance whe ich may have offered more preferential terms than Laxey. Call me cynical, and I'm sure the NOMAD has some involvement where such decisions require disclosure to investors through the stock exchange, but it just seems like a comment thrown in to add the veneer of respectability to the situation. In the same way Charles Green was fond of throwing in the name of Deloitte when it suited him.
  13. I'll hold fire till I read it, but it doesn't sound like I'm going to like this.
  14. Responded. A positive development. Important now to see that the results are published and acted upon.
  15. Works for us I guess in that he wont get injured when away with the squad or playing.
  16. At least the academy scouting network has been rated highly. That's something. So its just the senior team's scouting network that is pish (non-existant) then!
  17. Possibly, to an extent. They will provide the results up to say December/January (whatever the mid-year point is), and at that particular point in time. This may provide some clarity, but unlikely that it will explain everything.
  18. Our very own D'Artagnan has been waging quite a campaign on that front...
  19. Okay, so he's done some maths and worked out what everyone knew when it was first uttered by Stockbridge pre-AGM, that we were going to be running low in cash at this time of the year. However, the accounts did state that we have an unsecured facility of ~£2.5m. I presume this is why the likes of Wallace have been confident that we are not in any immediate danger. Serious concerns remain though.
