SFA reduce Mike Ashley dual-ownership fine to £1000
stewarty replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Don't think so. But as it says, the board is considering applying this rule where breaches occur, and the SFA have now re-confirmed said breach... -

I'm confused, mate. But no matter. He's a danger to our club and any chance to bloody his nose is welcome. -

Also, given the wording of the ruling, it made cleat that the distinction between different legal entites and the beneficial owner did not apply in this instance. -

There may be a subtelty at play, or I may have misinterpreted... but was the suggestion not that voting rights of shareholders found to have breached dual-ownership rules would be disapplied? -

They didn't, and that wasn't the basis of the charge. -

So if I rob a bank today, I can't be prosecuted tomorrow because the robbery itself is no longer ongoing? Behave... The idea, as far as I undertand, is that any shareholder proven to have been in breach of said dual ownership rules, would be proposed to have their voting rights disapplied, The main benefits thereafter would be a) to prevent him from taking up his portion of shares in the proposed rights issue (as if he'd actually *invest*, snigger snigger); and b) to prevent any future breaches given that the SFA levies fines on the club. All very sensible, as I'm sure the majority of shareholders will agree. Tanks on kiddy-on lawns, etc. -

Still a breach, as confirmed by the SFA. Again. -

So, King's next move to propose an AGM resolution disapplying Ashley's voting rights now that its been confirmed (again) that he breached dual ownerhsip rules...??? -
Agreed. Sensible points. Smith's parking of the bus in 08 was undeniably effective and hard to watch at the same time. That won't take away memories of the Fiorentina penalty shoot out or the trip to Manchester for me. Acknlowedging these limitations, and those of mccoist isn't accepting poor quality, but it does mean we can start to move forward. Expectation levels will be one that I think warburton will have to realise are different. I think he knows that, but not everyone can handle it.

Mate or not, are you saying Sir Alex was sentimental? This is the guy that got rid of ince, van Nistelrooy, Beckham, Stam, and countless other big names in their prime ... But anyways, my point isn't whether you'll find folk who dislike a player or manager; its that there's plenty out there who will appreciate their abilities... And some of them, maybe know a bit more than your average joe punter. Constructive criticism is fine, but seems that some folk have a pathological need to be negative, whilst glossing over valid counter arguments.

I voted "aye", but only if the deal was structured in such a way as to incentivise his performance and wasn't for more than one year, with an option of another. Yes that would leave us open to him having a good season, making a few quid and then moving on, but I agree with the comments about his fitness and pace...

Sir Alex Ferguson thought he was good enough to help him out at Man U. And the likes of Giggs only ever spoke glowingly about his work. But what do they know?
-
Not according the SFA who have fined both Ashley and the club.
-
Also, we've still to have the full hearing in court with regards to the confidentiality interdict that was granted...
-
Its not quite posturing from King. In the sense that the Board now has a mandate to bring to the AGM a motion to disapply the voting rights of any shareholder breaching the SFA's dual ownership rules. Not sure what percentage of votes would be needed to get this passed, but this isn't over.

Mike Ashley tells Rangers FC 'we're not a bank' over loan deal
stewarty replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
So Ashley claims that Sports Direct are not a bank? Given that he actively tries to shaft his business partners, customers and staff; he sure acts like a bank, In my humble opinion, of course. -
New management team: Mark Warburton and David Weir
stewarty replied to gisabeer's topic in Rangers Chat
Depends how it plays out. If it's done in the media, I think that could well happen. If it's done privately with no leaks, possibly not. I wouldn't mind McCall as a #2 actually. Give us a little bit of continuity and could let McCall do some interim work to tide us over next week or two with regards to making approaches to possible players. -

I hope so too, would prefer a clean break. -

Starting to get a feeling its going to be McCall that gets the gig. Just a hunch. -
Didn't think we would have a manager announcement today... Got a feeling that we'll not find out much more than we already know from King's earlier pressers with regards to club strategy. Ever the optimist though, what I want to hear are the deliverables he is working on, and a timetable for them...

Would quite like to see Stuart McCall kept on as a coach. Felt that overall he showed he's a good coach, but we were too far gone. Whether he'd want something like 1st team coach position, I have no idea. -

Not sure this is based on anything other than assumption, ie because we are likely to announce season tickets tomorrow, we need to offer something to entice the support. Not implausible, but we've had Murray say at narsa (rumoured to have, at least), that we are interviewing this week. So unless things have moved on quickly, I think we might be getting ahead of ourselves. the bookies aren't often wrong though. -

Agree that its too early for Cathro. If he progresses and maintains his reputation, then perhaps at some point in the future. But until he's demonstrated a track record as a manager in his own right, I wouldn't be keen. -

Good quote from Warbuton in the BBC article saying that it was an informal meeting to see how personalities will fit together. A good sign, rather than just picking a manager based on reputation and without thinking about how he will fit into the heirarchy of the club. Having a man like Weir involved can only be a good thing too. -
Impressive optimism so soon after a result like that...
