Celtic call for Offensive Behaviour Act to be binned
stewarty replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
I think a review such as that after just two years is likely to need some considerable caveats attached before considering any of its conclusions. The first sentence of the piece above rings alarm bells also - 80% of a YouGov survey? Given pollster's margins of error and sometimes the bald facts that their methodologies can be materially questioned, I am inclined to ignore that analysis. I mean, how many folk who are on a YouGov polling list will get a phonecall of an evening, be asked about the OBA and say "aye" without having a clue what it was about, let alone whether it was working. As for the reductions in incidents, we need to see whether the trend continues or whether it was a natural change that could have occurred for other reasons, e.g. whether simply the increased police effort resulted in the reduction rather than the OBA itself. As was well opined at the time, there is legislation in place that was thought to adequately address any the offences that the OBA is alleged to have provided clarity over. -
RFFF statement - youth development at Auchenhowie proposed

I'm content that this is a good idea. Yes a museum might have been preferable, but I'd fancy that might require significant more investment than would be in the fund. It would also add additional ongoing costs to the club as presumably the fund could not back the museum on an ongoing basis. -
Scottish football goes global in international TV deal...

Exposure in more countries isn't a bad thing, except when you don't get anything tangible for giving away the rights. Yet another sign that Doncaster is out his depth. -
Excellent post. But such obvious bias is ignored when his fellow journalists and beeb bosses simply circle the wagons. No wonder mainstream media is flailing so much, when justified criticism is ignored or denied.

Now that he's on the back foot, lets announce an EGM to have his voting rights removed...

Transfer Deadline Day: Michael O'Halloran signs until 2020

I read something on twitter about talks having stalled, but not sure there's been anything official. -

I'd be amazed if this wasn't a concern for the gaffer. I'd be looking to give some of our defensive cover options some bench/ sub time in the coming weeks. -

Measured words as always from the gaffer. Certainly pours cold water over the hyperbole and insinuation from the likes of Boyd and stoked up by the press. -
Aside from the article being slightly preachy, I'm on board with the idea of short corners. Where I feel that fans get frustrated is when it becomes too obvious what we will do, to the point where defenders squeeze the corner and we end up going backwards. Once that happens a few times in succession, you are looking for a bit of variety and a bit of nous on the pitch. That said, I agree with Tannochsidebear - we have shown more variety in recent games and, to be fair to the team, this seems to be reflective of our upturn in form.

Maybe the fact that we haven't gone back with a 3rd bid to St J on M O'H is because we've decided he's not worth what they want for him (or the terms of the deal), and maybe we've got our sights on someone else??? -

Chris McLaughlin's lack of balance apparent again
stewarty replied to BEARGER's topic in Rangers Chat
His report on the Radio Scotland newsdrive programme really irritated me for much of the reasons mentioned above. Mental gymnastics he goes through so as not to annoy Lawwell really is a site to behold. I can't say I'm overly keen on banning journalists, but I would make a few exceptions, and McLaughlin is one of them. -
By far the biggest issue I see is their lack of corporate governance. Its all very well appointing his family and friends - they're hardly likely to challenge his methods. Eventually this stuff catches up on you - as seen by the string of bad business decisions that SD are making. More fool them. Jelly and Ice Cream in the Louden with Sports Direct dies!

I wouldn't be unhappy if he left. Not good enough for what we will need next season, although this season he has a role in a "horses for courses" sense.

Yeah, I've watched it too. I think one or two members of the press are attempting to massage what was said to fit a narrative

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard

Wilson's form is quite a concern though. He's been beaten by his man or caught out of position on several occasions and its led to us conceding goals. His confidence looks shot, and he also looks to me like he wants/needs a marker behind him, to give him confidence to attack the ball in front of him, knowing that he has someone sweeping if he doesn't connect. -

What a farcical prosecution to bring. Does the Crown not assess the strength of evidence and weigh against the likelihood of success?
