I'd echo the sentiments about pressing them and putting pressure on their back 4. I think there's mistakes in them, much like ours, which could lead to quite an open game . I'd go the exact same as Frankie's XI, although one option I'd also consider is Hodson at LB, with Elton John at LM. He looked like he had some pace and bite going forward, and the engine to get back and support Hodson in nullifying Roberts.

No offence but I'd prefer we didn't link to DR content.

Which is why I think its all the more weird. A club like Crystal Palace shouldn't be making what, on paper, is a pretty ambitious appointment from the point of view of the guy's background and the style of play he would bring to the club.if they're not prepared to give him the time to implement such a big set of changes from a player, tactical and set up point of view. Which points me back to there being something odd about it all. A clash of personalities in the boardoom, players not trusting him or taking to his style (or not getting it quick enough)... And yes, 4 games and 4 defeats is poor. And even a club like Palace would expect to get at least 2 or 3 points, but say they went on and won their next two games they'd likely be comfortably ahead of West Ham and Bournemouth who are also on nil points, and probably also the likes of Leicester who are on just 3. We've seen countless times that all it takes a goal or another spark for a team to suddenly click into gear.

His departure was also very odd. Like he agreed to leave quietly, kind of thing.

Results aside, something was obviously not working if the decision is taken so early. Coupled with the Inter sacking, what does this say for De Boer going forward?

I thought Wallace had one of his better games of late, on Sunday. His running in the first half helped to stretch the RC defence and create options. And he even got a couple of shots on goal. We need more of that though.

Pedro Caixinha on why Michael O’Halloran WON’T be back at Ibrox
stewarty replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Sadly I think they're both right (if the alleged discussions are true). Yes, MOH is not someone who easily fits into the style of play we typically adopt. And yes, its increasingly looking likely that PC might not be long in the job unless results improve rapidly. -
[FT] Ross County 1 - 3 Rangers (Morelos 31, 41; Herrera 89)
stewarty replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Yes - at home especially I expect Ross County to want to try and impose a physical challenge... in the few games so far, teams have managed to knock us off our stride and break up our play and get a foothold. I really think we need to start imposing ourselves from the first minute to try and put this to bed. And thats where Herrera comes in for me. -

Given the discussion point on Pena during the week I'd expect him to feature. I think Pedro will bring Herrera back in if fit, to give us the more physical presence. -

I know of a couple of spares for the live pod on Friday if anyone is interested... -
Certainly seems to have the talent and technique, but can he apply it? Will be interesting to see how he goes.

I mainly see it when using Chrome - FYI

I've had that as well. I just click yes and it makes the post anyway.

Clearly the approach you've taken over 30 years suits you, and thats great. But for many others, one of the biggest aspects of going to the game is the community of family and friends built up over a period of time, catching up with them every other week at the football being an important part of their leisure time. The location we prefer doesn't change anyone's level of support for the team or our desire to see the team winning.

They did indeed. The first one sold out within the space of a few hours as well. -

Yes. Looking forward to it too, after missing out on the first one. I'll give you a shout next week and we could potentially arrange a wee meet-up? -

Any Gersnetters heading to the second live pod on the 25th August? -
No chance. Thats an open goal for the green and grey hooped bretheren.

Agreed. The attitude and scepticism to anything other than "old school" methods shown by older players, coaches and the media make it doubly hard for a young head coach. Look no further than the way they all laughed at Pedro trying to explain some of his tactics to see how much of an uphill battle you have unless you just stick to the blood-and-snotters-get-it-right-up-ye-110% mantras so favoured by the critics of anyone doing something different... Essentially we don't give them a chance to find their feet and magnify any and all negatives with barely a glance at the context. Or maybe I'm just jaded with all this pish.

One of them just got sacked by Hearts... Whether that was the right move for Cathro at that moment, I guess results prove that it might have been slightly too soon for him. I hope he is able to build back up. Perhaps getting more experience at a lower level (as Manager) will help him get a big move again.
