The Summer 2024 Rangers Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread

You never know, but I suspect it will be cut-price deals and pay-offs to get some of them off the books. -
The Summer 2024 Rangers Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread
stewarty replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
The thing with players under contract who haven't lived up to expectations, is that other teams can see this too. It affects both the price we can charge to move them on, and potentially the wages they can attract when they do. In short, we need to wait till the end of the transfer window before assessing the squad fully. That said, this pre-season I've deliberately avoided getting too invested in any of the new signings. I wish them all well, but it wont be until we see how they perform and handle the expectation/standards the fans will demand till we can form an accurate judgement. Lammers would seem to be the case in point here - arguably one of our most exciting signings last summer, showed up well in pre-season, but he just couldn't manage to string his laces, never mind consistent performance levels together. At least until he moved home to a club where he was under far less pressure. -
Additional 20 Premiership games on TV next season

Still no word that I've seen about the value of this addition to the TV deal. Suspect they've sold this for buttons. -
Additional 20 Premiership games on TV next season
stewarty replied to stewarty's topic in General Football Chat
I thought it was Viaplay too, but maybe Premier Sports is the better and more sellable brand. -
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c4nn7729q53o An additional 20 Scottish Premiership matches will be shown live on subscription television from next season. Premier Sports, who already show live Scottish Cup and League Cup games, have bought the package of 20 games for five years. They will share live rights with Sky Sports, who currently show up to 60 games a season on a deal until 2029. The BBC has a contract to show Scottish Championship and League 1 games on free-to-air platforms, as well as live radio and Premiership highlights rights. SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster described the move as "tremendous news for SPFL clubs and supporters alike". "Up to 80 Premiership matches will be broadcast live next season across Sky Sports and Premier Sports," he said. "This will be the highest number of live matches ever broadcast from the Scottish Premiership." I'm loathe to give Doncaster any credit, but this sounds positive, even if the extra revenue I assume is generated hasn't been disclosed in this article.

Cantwell. -
Agreed. I immediately discounted the idea myself for that reason. Felt exploitative.

[Official] Rangers announce departure of CEO James Bisgrove
stewarty replied to Rousseau's topic in Rangers Chat
My first thought when I heard this news was that Bisgrove probably wanted to leave last year but was persuaded to stay because Robertson was being moved out. Counter-offers have a really poor long term success rate in general terms. We'll miss his ability to attract commercial deals and it seems like he was trying to do the right things with regards to fan communication in particular, but beyond that I'm not sure this will be a great loss. We move on, though stability is desperately needed in all of the club's key roles, on and off the pitch. -
Yeah surely Monday would have been a better time to announce? Welcome nonetheless!

What commission did they pay an agency to find this new sponsor? What was it - 20-25% commission they paid last time for the Cinch deal?

The real question is whether Eric had Dale's consent?

I'm sceptical. They're still trying to figure out how to use email

Yep. My thoughts also.

I think at Lundstram's age we would surely just be looking at a one or two year extension only? That seemed to be the model for Arfield, Jack, McGregor and one or two others in recent years. Saying that, I could well see that he wants to secure a long term deal and that might mean him moving on.

Hibs have a cheek to complain with the way the kettle away supporters and delay entrance to Easter road. There’s a serious accident waiting to happen there. I’m only surprised it hasn’t already happened.

Silva here too. Just thought he was the difference when it came to the goals, he was a constant threat and did a mountain of running.
-
Agree - 3 x tough fixtures. Going to need a player or two to show up with some extra quality in the final third of the pitch. I fancy Dessers and Fabio to show up well though, and its about time we had a few cameo goals from Roofe.

The difference in him since those first few games of the season is incredible. He was lumbering, lacked sharpness and confidence. Now he's the complete opposite, albeit he has a bit of the Kenny Millers about him when he is 1v1 with the keeper and has time to think. -
Super Jack Butland in goals! Without that save we were dropping points.

Was always the fear in advance that we concede the first goal as it plays into the hands of Killie's game plan perfectly. Thankfully it happened early enough in the game that we were able to turn it around. Credit has to go to the players for adapting, albeit some better than others. For me the swap of Dessers for Silva was key. Too many balls in the first half were going long into Silva who either wasn't getting on the end at all, or was outmuscled. But it was the 3 bits of quality in relatively short order that won the game. Butland's save, then then two goals. Clement earning his stripes yet again by making the changes necessary. -
