Disappointed if we go for a quick sale but I'm not sure how much, if any, down side that might provide. I think the time left in the transfer window indicates that we will be willing to wait this out for a little while longer - if his head is turned by Lille, what other clubs might come in for him if they think there is a decent chance of him moving this window? Pure speculation either way, I just hope that, for once, we get something we can all agree is a good fee.

Regardless, I don’t have any complaints about the result but I have several about our players and questions about the manager’s decisions. If this is our preverbial kick up the arse then so be it. The scar tissue from previous seasons is real though

On the H&H post match pod they talked about the Livi Assistant Manager David Martindale shouting at his players to “do him” on a few occasions. I didn’t personally hear the comments as I had the crowd noise in the background but I can completely believe it. I think we all know that teams set out to try and level the game by being physical with us. And let’s face it, it’s worked on too many occasions in recent years so I can well see why folk read comments like Holt’s and fear the worst. We are also poorly served in this country by referees who allow overly-physical teams to play this way, whilst punishing the likes of Morelos for dissent, even though a Livi player on at least one occasion was guilty of the exact same offence, but with no yellow card given. We simply are refereed to a different standard at times, and that feeds into the mindset of “here we go again”. In terms of today’s game...Physical play within the rules is fine, and I think Livi did that today for the most part. There were no standout bad challenges from memory. All we can do is keep highlighting things and keep campaigning for change in the refereeing community. Regardless though, we have better players and should have been able to make that count. We only had ourselves to blame.

Agreed. But footballers are also mere humans and sometimes it takes a little arse-kicking/encouragement to get the best out of any team.

The SFA have form in inventing charges if they want to. Nobody will be surprised if they get nobbled though. -
I saw a heat map of touches on the ball from yesterday's game and it showed that Barisic was high and wide, but Tav was the opposite and most of his touches were in his half, with some pushing forward. For me it shows we are playing to their natural abilities - Borna whips in a better ball for the most part, whereas Tav is better in transition. Also, the opposites thing is for me just about balancing the team and not having both full backs playing high and wide, thus exposing the back line. However thats one of the reasons I suspect we often play with a double pivot in the 4-2-1-3 type formation.

The driving charges are, I assume, the tip of the iceberg. By all accounts he gave his address as Redcar, and he had some well documented problems when he initially moved to Killie where he didn't integrate with the team and was down the road every opportunity, mixing with less less than wholesome hangers-on... I wonder if he's slipped into old habits

I wonder how much the issues Aberdeen had with arranging friendlies will have hampered their preparation. Contrast with various messages from Gerrard about the sharpness of certain players, will we be able to use the potential fitness advantages to give them a torrid time? Cosgrove being out weakens them too.

Share a lot of the concerns about the developments needed in our squad, especially in attack. I think we will face a stubborn Aberdeen who will immediately try to exploit the weakness highlighted by @26th of foot Overall I'm optimistic, but agree we need to get off to a good start. My working assumption is that Michael Beale has been working hard with Gerrard at improving our tactical flexibility and to give us tools to adapt our game to the situations that arise. Part of that is going to be taking our chances and maintaining discipline - something we have not done at crucial times.
