Celtic Boys Club manager 'stuffed banknotes in boy's mouth'
stewarty replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
I think the more pertinent question is did the organisation know about allegations, or was it complicit in covering up said allegations… which have now been proven to be true in a court of law… -
Official: Full capacities back from Monday but with restrictions

Was there any admission that there was no evidence base for the previous crowd restrictions? -

Thats going to be carnage checking all those passports. -
Interesting. I have to be honest and say that I haven't seen him much beyond games against us. That said, he's looked solid, has a decent turn of pace and reads the game pretty well. Coming back from injuries the way he has both gives me confidence in his mentality, but also question his long term fitness and whether he's vulnerable to issues down the line. Providing its either a pre-contract or a reasonable fee if we get him this month, I think its one of those calculated gambles. And he also gives us another home player for european squads.

Merry Christmas to one and all.

I'm sure the key factor will be Sky. Though I wonder if they would not be unhappy about the OF game going ahead as planned, given the added numbers who will then want to tune in. -
We should just start calling it the Joe Aribo Man of the Match Award.

Official: Zeb Jacobs confirmed as Academy Head of Coaching

A refresh of the academy leadership to align with Gio is encouraging. Although clearly he'll be judged on young players making it to the first team squad and getting regular minutes. -
Agree with this. Aribo the standout. I thought Alfredo's all round game was decent, but he seems out of form in the final third, although he is getting into better positions, even if he is snatching a little when trying to get shots away. Barisic looked more comfortable with not being asked to fill in as a winger. Felt he got his starting positions much better, and was less exposed on the transition where I've felt it left him stretching to get back at times, and then failing to stop crosses. In turn that meant he seemed more confident/aggressive, and hardly gave his man a sniff. Was really impressed with Sakala off the left. A more than adequate backup to Kent, and you can see the team getting used to how best to use his pace.

Went for Goldson but tbh, I read the comments first to try and get some inspiration. In the end, his toe to flick the cross away towards the end of the first half and generally I thought he was much more solid last night, compared to recent weeks. We mostly limited their chances, which he was key to ensuring.

Nobody had a standout performance but airfield for me on the basis he got us off and running with the early goal.

The more exposure Bassey gets to first team football, the more he seems to adapt. Given the injury situation, I can see him getting a decent run of games.

I had the £1 deal until a few months ago. I also wouldn't pay more than that, but not sure if it can be used again?

Press Conference Giovanni Van Bronckhorst | 22 Nov 2021
stewarty replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I liked that he wanted to address the players collectively and give his thoughts on yesterday, rather than get drawn into a frenzy through the media. And a fresh start for everyone. If you're good enough, you're old enough, etc. No more favourites who play regardless of form. I think we needed to hear some of that right now. -
Aribo for me too. I was baffled when he was taken off.
-
Great news. Well done to the club in securing their man so efficiently.

Sometimes you need to change the situation you're in and get a fresh start in order to kick on. But even though I am not happy with the way he has flitted in the night, I think Gerrard is ruthless in looking out for himself, his team and the things they want to achieve. Aston Villa makes complete sense for them, but I was only a fan while he was with us... and he better not come back for players on the cheap! When I look back I see a Manager in Gerrard who is still cutting his teeth. If you think back to the first season or so, he got caught up in the emotion of games, and was not as guarded in his criticisms of players/opponents etc. To more recently where I think he was too wedded to certain favourite players and I think could have been bolder in revamping the squad by potentially moving on one or two players to finance it. It seems to me we held off in starting the player trading model that we are told is fundamental to our football strategy. I think Gerrard's authority with the Board probably led to a situation where he persuaded them to provide more loans as a means of adding to the squad. The Scottish game as we know has its limitations for players and managers with ambition, but I think we held onto Alfredo particularly for too long. 20/20 hindsight is wonderful though.

It was Ray Wilkins last game for us, and there was a bad fog on the day, you could barely see the other side of the pitch. MoJo got the first. 3-0 win, Butcher and Super on the scoresheet too.
