    Coisty

I though Petrescu was talking about the Scotland job. Or maybe I missed something...

    Coisty

Why is Coisty at the club? Starting with the obvious, he's Walter's Assistant Manager. He followed him from the Scotland where he was instumental in bringing in a club style atmosphere back into the squad following the disasterous Bertie Vogts regime. Similarly, following PLG's ill fated spell, there was lots of dressing room upheaval and bringing Coisty back to Ibrox would seem, to most, a pretty obvious call. It was pretty well touted at the time, and has been much discussed subsequently, that he was Walter's successor when he decides to call it a day. what is the plan set out for him or by him - probably a bit of both. Succession planning is crucial to long term to long term success so it would seem obvious that the club had this in mind when appointing him. From Coisty's point of view, he left behind a lucrative television career so there has to be some long term prospects in doing so. The carrot of the manager's job would prove difficult to turn down to any bear in his position. is he tainted by association with the managerial style of WS That seems to be the perception at the moment. As others have said, if Walter steps down and after delivering another SPL title with Coisty taking over, people may very well have different perceptions. why have so few put him forward as the successor to WS I take it you mean that so many are looking at alternatives should Smith decide to call it quits in January? To use two cliches: sometimes you don't know what you've got till it's gone; and better the devil you know, than the devil you don't.
  3. Agreed. Whittaker wins the Worst Man of the Match award
  4. And if you happen to be a Spurs fan as well it's a beezer of a weekend!
  5. Disappointing, but not unexpected.
  6. Same old, same old. Nothing will happen unless Sky decide it's what they want. And that's unlikely to happen unless there's serious traction in subscriber numbers.
  7. 3-3 cracking game!
  8. 3-2 mcdonald
  9. Ha ha ha ha ha That's the best joke of the week! :spl:
  10. Cracking goal from Moutinho. Great finish from 12 yards on the volley
  11. He posted the following twitter update after yesterday's game... "Thanks to everyone, wish I could write everyone back! Means a lot! Hopefully its not the last time on the pitch at ibrox! Enjoy ure weekend!" http://twitter.com/DaMarcusBeasley
  12. I only heard bits of the game on the radio but I am encouraged to hear about improvements to Boyd's all round play. I hope he backs it up with consistency as we saw similar stuff last year but he couldn't keep it going
  13. Do we really expect anything else from Mr Spiers? No doubt he wasn't there and is relying on second hand information. Quality journalism!
  14. I read the full RFE statement elsewhere and not that it is also calling on Rangers to demand that two of the members who will UEFA Investigation Panel are John Delaney (from Ireland and with business links to Dermot Desmond), and Ioan Angela Lupesco from Romania. I sense a stitch up job...
  15. I'll second that. Despite the negatives (team selection, tactics, etc, there's no other man I'd rather have as our manager given what's happening off the field.
  16. I switched off the radio as it was putting me off my dinner. Logged in here and we've scored. Won't be switching back on. Supersticious loyal!
  17. Agreed. Although I would point out that my reasons for disliking him are not because of the team he supports or the faith he subscribes to. The cynic in me suspects his motives may be along the lines andy_steel suggests but I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
  18. Typical tabloid sensationalism preying on the fact that we, the fans, don't know the full story and therefore speculating wildly. Trouble is, for them, with so much happening in such a short space of time, they've been caught out.
  19. I'm far from a fan of Jim Murphy but welcome his intervention
  20. Couldn't agree more. The win v Macedonia and the performance v Holland merely served to paper over the cracks. Amazing how quickly so many people forgot about the Norway performance.
  21. Some ex-gers on the first page. Michael Ball, Seb Rozenthal, Brahim Hemdani...
  22. Can't say I was too impressed. As Juffery texted me, Walter has managed to find the only winger in history who is slower than Ted McMinn.
  23. Frankie's piece pretty much sums up my thoughts perfectly. I've been shouting for Burley to go since the first game of the campaign. Clown of a manager.
  24. 0-3 for me. Fancy Rothen to make a good start, Boyd to thrive on the service and Naisy to continue his Scotland form....
  25. I think there is strong evidence to suggest that the sports science programme introduced under Adam Owen must be having a significant effect on the injury list and recovery times. Add to that the advances in modern medicine with less invasive procedures such as key-hole surgery and you see a lot more players recovering relatively quickly from injuries that would have ended careers 10-15 years ago. Not taking anything away from the medical team at Ibrox, they seem to be getting things right more often than not and long may that continue.
