Also, as others have mentioned, perhaps the Board shared the view that he wasn't the right man to take them to the next level i.e. the Champions League. By getting rid of him now, they allow Mancini a transfer window to make some changes to potentially kick on and achieve that this season.

Fantastic. Was thinking a draw wou ld be a bonus bute a win for the Swinecastle mob.....:giruy:

I guess the Man City board must be looking at Mourinho's stint at Chelsea. He brought instant success for a comparable amount of money spent.

I'm liking the goal difference. Not only do the Tims know they know they have to win, they know they need to win convincingly to keep up with us. Its little things like the add extra pressure that can really tell over the season...

Rumours from earlier today confirmed. Hughes was to be sacked today regardless of the result. Roberto Mancini appointed and will be unveiled on Monday.

Fill yer boots Rangers new browser. Firefox

Downloaded it and quickly uninstalled it. Just full of ads and links for the Rangers website which were annoying enough after 30 seconds, never mind staying there permanently. -
Why do some players appear to improve away from Ibrox
stewarty replied to wabashcannonball's topic in Rangers Chat
One thing about players fitness this season is that there is no reserve league. Therefore it is harder for fringe players and those returning to fitness to get their sharpness. Not saying that excuses players from having a poor attitude to their fitness and I would contrast Broadfoot who hardly looks like he's been away, to the likes of Adam who seemed to struggle constantly. -
Playing devil's advocate: Is there an argument for Walter rotating the keeping position to keep Alexander happy? If Smith was to guarantee him, say 15 SPL games per season plus a selection of Cup games, would he take it? Shagger can be consoled with the fact he is still number one and, form allowing, will get the nod for the OF and european ties. Rangers benefit because they keep two top quality goalkeepers match fit.

I take the point regarding the timing of it all but that is imposed on us by the transfer window. I can't see how it can be any other way. Rumour, speculation and ticket working are always going to happen as the window approaches. In short, I don't blame Walter. I blame the transfer window, media, agents and player power. I'd go further to say that even if we were in the EPL, we'd still find this happening. Just it'll probably be players posturing for new and significantly improved contracts.

Its impossible in the modern world to do gag players. There is so much media coverage with players being asked all sorts of questions, most of which is bland and obvious. Take today's 'revelation' that Alexander might leave if he doesn't start playing regularly. Smith replies that if the circumstances are right, they wouldn't stand in his way. Now shoot me down with a pee shooter, but I reckon most peeps have read or heard that story about 10,000 times over the years. The other example I'm guessing that DJ might be referring to (although I didn't tune in) is Bougherra working his ticket further by saying he wants to go back to the EPL. I can't honestly see why anyone would want to leave us for the EPL but if that's what the guy wants, do we really want to stand in his way? If we make things difficult for players by refusing them the right to be honest under questioning (within reason), we risk not being able to attract any calibre of player, and especially not those for which we specialise of late: i.e. those looking to put themselves in the shop window in the hope of getting a big move elsewhere. Frustrating as it may be to see them using us as a stepping stone, reality tells me that this will continue for many many years to come unless theire is a massive uplift in our television revenues.

Good intentions and pipe dreams, how they died.

Indeed. I don't know much about Ebbsfleet but it seems that most of what attracted folks was some sort of football idealism and some nice sounding gimmicks. Not saying there's anything wrong with that but when times are hard, idealism is often the first thing that goes out the window. -

Apparently the players had to stump up £2k each for the kitty. £2k for a night out? Ooofft! -

In true Sebo stylee, here's a youtube video of him titled "The Boys a bit Special - Ki Sung-Yong" [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgTqjZvPLiA]YouTube- The Boys a bit Special - Ki Sung-Yong[/ame] Watching this, he can certainly pick out raking 40-50 yard passes without any bother. Only trouble is, I didn't see one pass where he was put under pressure. In fact, I hardly saw anything special apart from one wee stepover/shimmy near the end but for all that, none of what he did appeared to amount to anything. Bodes well for another South-East Asian success story at Parkhead!:devil:

Rangers haven't attracted a single prospective buyer, reveals David Murray
stewarty replied to pete's topic in Rangers Chat
Spanner: you'll not fin anyone here who is not pro-rangers. My point being I just wanted to understand where you stood on those individuals. I'll state mine as a sort of prid pro quo: SDM: anti although previously pro. WS: pro but my patience running very thin AMc: Pro. Not sure he's manager material yet by I'd give him a go- 57 replies

I feared the worst today and was proved correct. I try to suppress such negativity in the hope I am wrong but it's becoming harder and harder. The only optimism I can draw upon is the likes of Danny Wilson's continued run in the team. Long may that continue and hopefully some others get a chance too. Can they really do any worse than the likes of Whittaker and Davis at the moment?

Fingers cross it is true. I am refusing to get my hopes up too much though and can see further tough times ahead. I just hope that when the time comes, there are others like yourself kevinthomson8 who have the cash to join as members to support a club membership type scheme. With 3 kids I dont think I'll be able to for a few years...

Rangers haven't attracted a single prospective buyer, reveals David Murray
stewarty replied to pete's topic in Rangers Chat
Very confusing interview. Asks more questions than it answers. The only conclusion that I can draw is that either it's true; or its another load of Murray spin. Given SDM's track record, I'm inclined to believe the latter. As the article suggests, Murray has allowed the media to report that Donald Muir was his appointee and not that of Lloyds Banking Group. If true, its clever manipulation I'm sure you would agree. But why should we then believe whats reported in this article?- 57 replies
