Clearly discussions have been held and agreements have been made on some level. In fact, the minutes you referenced above had the following paragraph... Clearly there is more to it than we know currently. So, it would also appear that, given we haven't heard anything since then, we have not yet gone back with more detailed proposals. But what I take from all this is that there appears to be a genuine desire from GCC to assist Rangers in developing its proposals. Whether there has been detailed approved planning consent or not, I have to agree that the premise that this whole ' there is no planning consent' argument is just spin and semantics. PS - Wabash - good digging!- I began to search for some documents but quickly gave up due to the shite nature of the GCC website search function.
-
Anyone fancy a trip GCC's offices? It would seem to me that their website is both contradictory and not entirely up to date. If nothing else, if Rangers made claims that permission was granted, outline or otherwise. Had it not been, I'm sure some official from GCC would be putting us all straight.
-
Wabash - if you use the GCC website as your source to confirm whether or not planning consent (outline or otherwise) was indeed given, why would you then discount that same source when it shows a page confirming that outline planning permission was indeed given?

On BBC Scotland, chief.

Its like silly season in the lead up to and during a transfer window. Yawn...

I think he is referring to this... http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/spl/rangers/comment-the-for-sale-sign-will-still-be-up-at-ibrox-next-week-1.1014429

Great debate guys I fall into the Calscot/ Super_Ally camp here, for the most part, but I get both sides of the argument. What I think it comes down to is money. We don't have any to invest in our team at the moment, and our ability to compete in the Champions League, even in a modest sense, dissappears. We are also hampered by societal problems with alcohol, drugs and lack of exercise the X-Box generation are famous for which means there is less home grown talent available compared to yesteryear. The net result is a manager who has to play the cards he is dealt. And right now he's playing Texas Hold-em and his hole cards are 7/2 off-suit.

Only vague in the sense he can't say anything tangible due to stock market rules. Everything else more or less confirms what we already know or strongly suspected.

The trouble with 'blue sky thinkers' is that they get all wrapped up in jargon and process and forget what the hell they are meant to be doing. I've never met one I didn't think sounded like a fanny! Back to the main thrust of your post- I agree totally. But how can this be achieved and why haven't the gurus employed previously been able to do this? For me the answer lies in strategy. I dont ever remember hearing of a club strategy at any level, be it on or off the pitch. That's not to say that valid strategies don't exist, but rather, we may be falling down on their execution. Either that or they're just crap.

I didn't think the Boyd/ Lafferty substitution was the reason we got pegged back - it was mostly defensive errors that cost us. We missed Bougie and Whittaker had a stinker. Plus you have to bear in mind it was a cup game and we're still on for the treble. It could have been a lot worse!
-
NB: I'm playing devil's advocate here... It may be slim, but it is possible. It would mean forking out a huge transfer fee and busting their wage structure but I can see them trying to appease the fans in some way. This could be it...
-
He's decent but I'd far rather Wilson play than him.
-
There is a possibility that Celtic might be able to persuade Keane to stay. Its a slim chance you might think but if they can offer him a long-term deal (say 4 years) on say £45k per week + bonuses, who's to say he might not be tempted? He's knocking on 30 now and hasn't won anything of note (that I can remember) so he might see it as his last chance of winning some silverware.

Rangers as it stands minus CL involvement

Anyone got stats on the net spends of our last few managers? -
I was just making the point that we don't actually know how close we came to administration and there are plenty of facts that we just don't know. That aside, I agree wholeheartedly that DJ is a numpty and not worth bothering about.

How do you know that he isn't right? We were in cricis mode not too long ago until the bank negotiated/ forced us into a new business plan.

No surprise there... There should be no fees involved until they reach the age of 16 is my view. You could possibly even do it so that retrospective payments are made to compensate clubs, but not until they are 16. Maybe then players wouldnt be discarded for being 'too small' when they are 15.

This would appear to confirm that Ellis has entered a period of due diligence. Not something I was aware had been confirmed so far.

Just noticed this one myself so apologies if its already been posted... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/r/rangers/8562345.stm The group considering a possible takeover of Rangers will decide in about two weeks' time whether to make an offer for the Glasgow club. RFC Holdings (Guernsey), fronted by Andrew Ellis, are entering a period of due diligence, during which they will examine the club's finances in detail. The Scottish champions are £31m in debt and have been under pressure from Lloyds Banking Group to cut costs. A group of Rangers directors will consider the implications of any offer. The independent committee comprises chairman Alastair Johnston, John McClelland, Martin Bain, Donald McIntyre and former Ibrox captain John Greig. Sir David Murray, who relinquished his chairmanship and place on the board in August, controls about 90% of the shares in the Scottish Premier League leaders. News broke last weekend that Ellis, a former director at Queen's Park Rangers, was preparing to make a bid. BBC Scotland learned that two other parties were also considering bids to take over the Ibrox club but Ellis is thought to be the front-runner. The Ibrox club are homing in on their second successive SPL title, currently enjoying a 13-point lead over second-placed Celtic. Rangers have previously confirmed that principal shareholder Murray International Holdings has opened discussions about a possible takeover of the club.

If we were looking vulnerable with injuries and suspensions stacking up I would share your concern but I'm actually quite confident we'll take care of business. Its ra sellik that should be worried about dropping points!

Discussions formally opened with 'certain interested parties'
stewarty replied to OnlyOneAmoruso's topic in Rangers Chat
If Ibrox has the possibilty of future increases in value as a result of regeneration, would it not be in MIH's interst to retain its holding? For all the debt held at Rangers amounts to, as a proportion of MIH's overall debt, there must be better ways of improving the balance sheet?- 129 replies

Dear Timmy, Bougie was perhaps a bit fortunate and maybe the Brown red card could have been a yellow. Your team is shite. Get over it! Regards, stewarty
