X-Factor, Strictly? Not tonight. My Saturday night's entertainment is sorted now. Lenny will be getting some serious stick on the phone-ins. Full on Timplosion! Where's Ian with the kerryfail street thread?
-
I'm pleased too. Would have taken a draw all week long

Was fun while it lasted! Still, opportunity to go 12 points clear of our rivals and its not even Halloween!

Humza Yousaf MSP- Chance to ask some questions on Offensive Behaviour Bill
stewarty replied to Fury's topic in Rangers Chat
Hi Chris, I've been following some of the chat you've been having with Humza and would proffer the following questions: 1) Has he publically clarified his remarks to listeners to Call Kaye to ensure that no unintentional inference is drawn by its listeners? 2) Can he confirm what arrangements will be made to ensure the Justice Committee is actively monitoring any charges/convictions that result from the bill? 3) Will he support the inclusion of sunset clause to the bill and commit to formally review its effectiveness at pre-defined times? 4) What consideration has been given to unintended consequences that could arise? I can think of alot more, but that'll do for a kick-off. Apologies if some of these have already been covered in your blog as I haven't got round to reading it yet! Cheers, Stewarty (@mister_bee_) -
The meeting just seemed to be stage managed. Anything that is publicised in advance, such as it was, and has their media office's top man involved, cannot be anything else. I do wonder about the timing though. And my spidey senses are telling me that we are going to see some siginficant shifts in this bill before its passed. For all his faults, Salmond is not stupid. He will be noting the public mood and the evidence provided to the Justice Committee. I see a couple of potential options: 1) Further delay to the bill's passing to allow time for more evidence and scrutiny 2) Scrapping the bill altogether and look to alternatives such as extensions (where considered necessary) oi existing legislation. 3) Inserting a sunset clause to see whether the bill has the intended effect We've already had one delay so I think a second delay is unlikely. Most evidence has pointed toward the proposals being unworkable/flawed and therefore option 2 is my each way bet. But I suspect the favourite is option 3. This seems eminently sensible as most people do support the idea of the bill even if they have misgivings about the actual proposals.
-
Agreed. In addition to that, they are much more proactive in addressing directly any perceived or actual injustices against their religion. But then, we don't know whether other faiths have similar discussions and just don't seek publicity for it.
-
I do wonder where this is going. Firstly, I don't think if the bill passes, it will be as bad as what many opponents suggest. And secondly, any legislation that purports to put all football fans on the same legal footing, is a positive thing in my view. That said, I do recognise that there are flaws in the current proposals and having delayed its passing once, I don't see that happening a second time. Based on this, and the law of unintended consequences, I think the only sensible proposal is for a sunset clause to be inserted, and so that it can be re-evaluated if it does not actually address the issues it is intended to, as many suspect it wont.

The onus should not be on supporters though, if this new and much vaunted disciplinary process is to be effective and fair.
-
Hmmm. For some reason I am not holding my breath.

I didn't see it. Was it bad?

Regardless of the NS comment, all I would say is compare the Blue Order statement to that of the Green Brigade. What started out in a similar vein to many of the representations that were made to the Justice Committee reviewing the proposed bill; and also a similar vein to the BO statement, then descended into paranoid farce where they sought to justify their use of the word "hun", and to trot out the tired old arguments about their singing/chanting being political rather than sectarian.

I was in the top tier of the Main Stand looking down on the BF and could see the steward/police removing a couple of lads. Has there been any official statement on what caused them to take such heavy handed action?
-
Excellent stuff. First we had this nonsense over whether Commons was fit, or not. Now we have Lenny having a pop at his mate for saying what seems obvious, and what a number of other folk are thinking/said. The Timplosion continues!

I think it would be a sad day for Scottish football if Aberdeen were to go out of business.

For comparison, does anyone any idea how many seats get broken on an average game? Also, I seem to remember there being some reciprocal arrangement where both clubs agree to cover the costs of broken seats at either stadium following OF games.

Another example of the club's massively improved social media presence. My own personal contribution: The mystery of what happens when an unstoppable force collides with an immovable object is now now known after Doran Goian punched his own face. #GoianFacts

I wasted my first 2 years at Ibrox, I had to make up for that

As ever, the proof is in the pudding. He's set the standard now with his goals to games ratio but the great thing now is that he is doing his talking on the pitch. Long may that continue! -
Regardless of his motives, the true arbiters are the reader's of his newspaper, who's circulation is plummeting faster than Speirs' reputation.

Working away for a couple of weeks. Anyone know of any bear friendly pubs that will be showing the Europa League ties. Lerwick for the 1st leg, Stornoway for the 2nd leg. Any help appreciated. Ta!

For some reason this thread has reminded me of Winston Churchill's famous speech: "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few". Big thanks to Admin/Mods for keeping the ship afloat!

Congrats to Gazza and Mrs Gazza!

I heard King on Radio Clyde describing this yesterday. Seems he spoke to the club and they have fed him the information for this article. As with everything, there are 2 sides to every story so I am wary of accepting this in its entireity as gospel.
-
Yep, I'm not following this either. He's gone, lets move on!

Anderlecht don't want to sell Juhasz and value him ~£4m. So unless he does a Jelavic, I just can't see this one happenind.
