SFA chief executive Stewart Regan learns to live with highs and lows
Bearman replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Aye Regan....how do you think ALL Rangers fans and their families have been feeling during your leadership? FUCK the fans of other clubs! -
Neil Doncaster has floated the idea of enlarging the top flight to 14 teams
Bearman replied to pete's topic in Rangers Chat
Don't for the life of me see the sense in a 14 team top tier, really don't? The biggest problem with our game is the joke of playing each other 4 times then there's the shite 'split'...now we are going to have TWO splits with this new idea, laughable. Why not a 16 club top tier? We play each other twice with no splits 30 games in all, the League Cup with it's so-called revamp should include ALL clubs (including those playing in Europe) played over the course of the season to make up the lack of games...the Champions League does it this way, so why not in our domestic game? We could even manage a winter break with that set-up. And it would still enable Scumdee Utd staying up. -
Danny Wilson has been MW's less effective signing so far. 1 is no bad from 10.

I did read the article about the revamped competition Craig.

Hearts vs Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup used to be a 'tasty' encounter to look forward to...but I won't be watching it. Rangers vs Cowdenbeath and Stranraer vs C*ltic on tv billed as powerful live cup games is just pish for the neutral, it's not as if there could be a 'shock result' or even a closely contested cup battle in store? The game's up.

Teams playing European football won't be participating...Wow! The wonders of the Scottish League Cup with no European place for the winners?

The above media report includes this... Great when it's for us, not so when it's against us...merry go round.

Celtic manager Ronny Deila offers Rangers counterpart Mark Warburton words of wisdom amid speculation over Fulham job The two men may never have met but if there's one person who understands the frustration that erupted in Rangers manager Mark Warburton over the past week it's Ronny Deila. Although Warburton's introduction to football in Glasgow has been smooth, he has shown sensitivity both in the reaction to his team's first defeat — against St Johnstone in the League Cup in September — and, most topically, the persistent speculation that Fulham were intent on making him their new manager. Having stopped short of a full denial in press conferences, he took to social media to kill the story in midweek, using words like 'appalling' and 'shockingly incorrect' to describe the reporting of a story that hardly reflected badly on his managerial capabilities. Slight mock of Delia by the media regarding the above pics they use for the story...typical press. As Celtic manager for the past 18 months, Deila knows what it's like to be the centre of attention — and he can reasonably claim to have had it far worse than his counterpart on account of speculation that his team's European deficiencies could result in him being sacked. Driven and laid back, Deila has, barring the odd intemperate response, managed to keep himself on an even keel. He believes former Brentford boss Warburton can do the same by remaining true to his ideals and refusing to rake over every word that is written or broadcast about him. 'Advice? Learn quickly, that's the most important thing,' declared the Norwegian. 'You have to use a lot of time for reflection. Know yourself, what you stand for, who you want to be, what you want to achieve. 'Then you have to go for it and believe in yourself. That's the most important thing. You have to adapt as well to the culture you come to and the environment around you. 'What I have been through will make it easier to go to another club that has the same intensity around it.' Deila admits he experienced something of a culture shock when he moved from Norwegian club Stromsgodset to succeed Neil Lennon in the summer of 2014. 'I had been at Stromsgodset for seven or eight years and felt I had gone on auto-pilot,' he said. 'I could have had a fantastic life out there but I was bored. 'Maybe I could have achieved more but I had an opportunity to leave the safe things and go into the uncertain. 'But I wasn't used to it. It was a new country, different people and another language. I didn't know anybody, so it was a situation I hadn't been in before. 'One of the first days after I arrived here, I had to attend a charity event in Glasgow and there were thousands of people there. 'I hadn't been in the city centre before. When I got out of the taxi, the media came at me right away. I was dragged into a corner and I had to speak in English. There were a lot of cameras as well. 'I was thinking: 'Oh my God, this is crazy'. Another time, I did something with Glasgow's Lord Provost and I realised that people were more interested in me than her. That was the first time it really hit me, how big and how intense it is here. It was like an out-of-body experience. I knew I was strong enough to handle it but now I need to make more progress at Celtic to make everybody happy.' Thursday marks the end of Deila's second campaign in Europe after failure to qualify for the Champions League was followed by a poor Europa League campaign that has resulted in elimination before the final Group A fixture against Fenerbahce in Turkey. Deila's likeable persona and fondness for interacting with the crowd made him an extremely popular figure during his first season but, with Celtic's stumbling performances in Europe, he has reined in the theatrics this term. Although there is discord among some Celtic fans over his suitability for the job, the Norwegian insists he has never encountered animosity in his adopted city. 'There hasn't been one time since I arrived that anyone has said something cruel to me in the street,' he added. 'The people I've spoken to have been very open and positive. They have been caring people. 'That has been a very good thing for me to experience. I knew about the media before but I have done the same here as I did in Norway. 'I want to be respected, of course, but I understand the media have a job to do. 'I have to live with it and be as honest as possible. If you go around seeking other people's opinions, you go crazy.' It is a truism that an Old Firm manager is never far from a crisis. In the event that Warburton finds himself in the grips of a real trauma at Rangers, he could do worse than follow Deila's lead. If there was a 'Gersnet Poster of the Year Award'.
Bearman replied to Bearman's topic in Rangers Chat
Lots of references to FF and how many times banned and all that, sure it is odd that some folk get a ban then re-register again only to be banned again? . Yip I've also been banned on FF and re-registered, but only once, maybe because I don't post much on there as much as I did the first time...as they say...never say never...oops I said it twice! Anyways back on topic, I wasn't serious Frankie about handing out awards to individual posters...that wouldn't be right to the guys/lassies who missed out on them as there are loads on here who are superb contributors, I only wanted to let it be known that my fav poster is the man 26th. Back off topic...and back to the FF banning thing... Are there any posters on here who've been banned from Gersnet only to return...? C'mon admit it guys  -
Rangers are still years away from being a threat to Celtic...
Bearman replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
There is no evidence of Scottish football changing quickly other than what happened 4 years ago. We don't need to spend it as you phrase it. Are you SDM? Spend a fiver, we'll spend a tenner? I'll agree though, Celtic are the worst they've been in living memory (your words) so do we really have to go down the SDM route and spend spend spend? -
Is there any such award? Just for fun and acknowledgement to some of the fantastic posters on here of which there are many many as we approach Xmas. A POTY vote from me would go to the 26th of Foot. A brilliant poster who has a level of intense integrity with a shade of nastiness all in good faith mind, and has a memory which puts mine to shame but at the same time inspiring me to remember them myself. I have to 'Google' words 26th puts on up here to learn what they mean?...his sentences are something else, the way he put's his point across is interesting and thought provoking at the best of times. If there was such an award...then 26th would get my vote. If, like me, you admire 26th of Foot's contributions to this forum, then press the 'agree' button.

Mark Warburton admits words of wisdom from Ibrox legends Greig and Smith have helped him handle Rangers spotlight http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/rangers/14123175.Mark_Warburton_admits_words_of_wisdom_from_Ibrox_legends_Greig_and_Smith_have_helped_him_handle_Rangers_spotlight/? MARK WARBURTON admits the words of wisdom from Rangers legends John Greig and Walter Smith are helping him to handle life in the Ibrox spotlight. The Light Blues boss has been at the centre of speculation surrounding his future in recent days after he was linked with the vacant managerial position at Fulham. Warburton took to Twitter on Wednesday night to play down reports of interest from Craven Cottage and has once again re-affirmed his commitment to the Gers. It has been a whirlwind start to his Ibrox career for the former Brentford boss but he has taken on board the messages from two club legends to help him deal with a range of issues. He said: "It's a steep learning curve. With the greatest of respect, I don't get fazed by certain aspects of it, but you deal with it and hope you have the tools and attributes to step up and answer the questions. “At a club of this stature there are a lot of demands and a lot of questions. It's the same with the players, but it helps with David Weir and Jim Stewart being around. “It helps that you can think of what you are going to say at these meetings and give some real thought to it. “The danger in this role is if you walk in ill-prepared for whatever it is, a press conference, a training session, a pre-match speech. If you are ill-prepared at this level you pay the price and I can't afford to do that. "I've got Jim Stewart here. I'm not the smartest guy in the world far from it, but I've also got my own thoughts on how you behave. “I conduct myself how I think is appropriate. I'm big on respect and how we behave in this environment. I give respect to who I am speaking to and I expect it back in return. "Walter's great. He comes in after the game and has a chat and it's fantastic to have access to that font of knowledge. John Greig comes in too and I speak to him too. “There are other managers down south I speak to as well. It's great to have access to that type of experience. “You've got to take what you think works for you. You can take as much advice as there is in the world and you can keep taking advice, but at the end of the day you do what works for you." While Rangers have made plenty of headlines for their exploits on the park so far this season, the furore over his future is the latest off-field matter Warburton has had to deal with so far this term. The 53-year-old is unhappy with the way the Fulham link has been reported in recent days and admits he is learning to cope with the scrutiny and pressure he is under on a daily basis at Ibrox. Warburton said: “There won’t be a crisis but if there is then it’ll be up to us to deal with it. “As Davie Weir rightly side, if there’s a bad result then don’t read the papers. If it’s a good result, read the papers. “The expectation comes from the supporters. It was here long before me and it’ll be here long after I’ve gone. “But they also want to see players who are committed. Everyone can have a bad day at the office but as long as they see the players are giving them 100 per cent commitment then the supporters will be happy with that. “What went on [on Wednesday] took me aback because it was inappropriate. But that has nothing to do with being a big club - it’s about inappropriate behaviour. “It’s not about being at Rangers or Madrid or Man United or Barca, it’s just inappropriate. But I’m not taken aback by anything about the club itself. “It’s a huge club with a huge global fan base, a weight of expectation and a fantastic history. We know all of that and we know what we have to do.” The man Warburton certainly has got the 'once a Ranger, always a Ranger' thing. Very difficult not to when you look at the club's history compared to other so called great clubs. Outstanding vibes.

Very impressive stats for a 20 year old...we signed a player once who as a 20 year old scored 41 goals in 46 appearances for his club...anyone remember who this was? -
The Dopey Rhecord must be struggling for some negative news of our club so instead invent another one. Warburton emphasises "shockingly incorrect stories from certain media outlets" "Such stories are incorrect and disrespectful to me, to Rangers and the supposed interested party in this case Fulham. Appalling" Welcome to the small world of shit stirring, obsessive hatred and non-stories of the press in wee Scotland Mark. Mind the bigotry against RFC too Mark...it's relentless with no end in sight, maybe they'll find a way to drive you out eventually, they will come after you like you'll never understand.

Miller is a model professional right now at Rangers, I can't say for sure but the squad of player we have look up to him, he sets an example to everyone at the club, most likely the reason for his 1 year extension. Your daily condemnation of him is becoming tedious, it's unfair especially when you bracket him with Nicky Clark. -

I'd like to add if I may...yes get some more players in to bolster the squad in January because of the possibility of injuries and suspensions but don't sign another Sandaza or a Daly please...we don't need them. -

There is absolutely no chance of Rangers signing a striker in the next window, why would they? For starters there are none available of substance in this window. If there were they wouldn't sign because of where we are unless the board want to splash out. Why would the board take a gamble on some money grabbing hasbeen who's available in January? I've said it before and I'll say it again...there is nothing much wrong with our squad of players other than a loss of form due to complacency. Next summer in the 'important' window when we are a top league side with the opportunity to win the league, that's when to spend serious money on a tried and very trusted striker, not in January ever.
