Hopefully what comes out of all of this is no newspaper 'journalist' ever again ignores the things that go on at that rotten cesspit over the other side of the River Clyde. -

This loan deal with Billy King...have we got an option to sign him permanently? Do you think a price has already been agreed if things turn out hopefully for the good of Rangers? I've always wanted that boy at Ibrox and to be a total success for us, I'd love to see in the same way Barrie links with Wallace on the left being replicated on the right side of the park, now that would be something - King Billy linking with Tav, with Waggy and Miller waiting in the box. -
He's just another cog in the team...can't allow his head to rule his heart. Hope he's here for 55 at least.

I was still in my teens when I watched that happen both players were my heroes and like everyone else beside me were shocked at what developed...If I remember correctly the guys got off with just a word from the ref, but it was quite a serious set-to, far from handbags. Anyway, that was well before May 1972.

Aye Ian...Two questions. Could you ask them...'Why did you have fisticuffs with each other during a match away to Dunfermline'? and...'When did you make up'? The guys had a fight with each other on the park, first time and only time I've seen this happen ever between team-mates live. If you fancy asking them I'd be interested in what they say...if you don't want to ask them then I'll understand.
-
That be good too...if the players just freeze as you say for a few seconds, but it would be difficult for the fans (for me anyway) to not celebrate on impulse.
-
I'm just happy I don't put money where my mouth is at the bookies based on my predictions on here...I'd have lost 'everything' by now.
-
Just a thought...it would be a very good statement and would grab some headlines if the lads simply walked back to the centre spot without any celebration at all after scoring against Falkirk this week-end. I'm presuming we will score on Saturday btw.

Alex Ferguson - camera focussed on him at City vs Everton game tonight - after a couple of seconds he let out a big fake yawn. Class.

Two things: Is the Sun newspaper still going? And who's Davy Provan?

MARK WARBURTON has demanded further discussions with the game’s leaders after revealing that Andy Halliday’s sending-off against Morton makes him fear for the future of football. Referee Barry Cook dismissed the Ibrox midfielder for a second bookable offence on Monday evening after he celebrated the second goal in his side’s 2-0 win at Cappielow by pumping his fist to his own supporters before turning towards a section of home fans in the stadium. Blues boss Warburton remains deeply unhappy with the reason offered on the night that Halliday could have sparked a “riot” and, having reviewed television footage of the incident, will endeavour to open lines of communication with the governing body over what the red card means for the game going forward. “I will seek some clarity and try to seek some sort of explanation,” he said. “I think everyone in football knows that if we start to go down that route, we would be booking players and sending them off every time there is a game played. “It was a totally inappropriate decision. Andy is a local boy, a passionate Rangers fan and all he was guilty of was celebrating that goal. If that becomes an issue, we really do have a problem in the game. “I will wait to hear an explanation, but it will just be the normal. “Andy Halliday was guilty of celebrating a goal. We get the very important second goal and he celebrates in the middle of the pitch. To get a second yellow card for that is beyond belief. “Look at the reaction of Andy Halliday. He can’t work out what has gone on. “Look at our bench. We get no dialogue. That’s not a good enough process.” Halliday is now suspended for Saturday’s league visit of Falkirk with Warburton pointing to the club’s inability to appeal against Cook’s decision a major flaw in the system. He insists he understands the need for players to behave, citing the example of the now-infamous goal celebration from Emmanuel Adebayor, then of Manchester City, which saw him run 90 yards to celebrate in front of Arsenal supporters in the away end in 2009. “It brings into question any player putting their finger to their lips or running down the side of the touchline,” said Warburton in an interview with Rangers TV. “I’m thinking back to the game where Adebayor ran something like 80 or 90 yards to the fans. I can see that one, but the other night is a baffling, baffling decision and we will lose a player for a very important game in front of a packed Ibrox due to it as there is no appeals process. “We got to look and ask ourselves: ‘Is that right?’. “I just find the whole process and the whole decision frustrating beyond belief. “I understand that, if your shirt comes off, you are booked. No shirt came off. He literally raised his hand in a clenched fist in terms of saying: “Great, we’ve scored a second goal”, a big goal in front of a tremendous away support. “What has he done wrong? The explanation was that Andy made a gesture that could incite a riot or trouble with the Morton fans. I am bemused. “If a player runs up to a section of fans and makes a gesture in front of them in an intimidatory manner, I understand absolutely. The last thing I want to see is any trouble or anyone hurt. “Andy is in the middle of the pitch, walking back towards the Rangers fans.” http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/14234408.Warburton_seeks_SFA_talks_over_Halliday_red_card/?

A future superstar? Trust the Record to print that. A player who's played over 300 games in 11 years and has just signed for his eighth senior club. -
Spiers and The Herald have a slice of humble pie.
Bearman replied to forlanssister's topic in Rangers Chat
The problem I have with this is that it sends out two messages... 1). The Herald apologises. 2). Rangers fans are bigots who chant/sing offensive songs. In a recent column for heraldscotland, Graham Spiers said an un-named Rangers director had praised the song The Billy Boys. He also questioned the willingness of Rangers directors to tackle offensive behaviour, and The Herald and Graham Spiers accept this was inaccurate. We acknowledge every member of the Rangers board is fully committed to fighting bigotry and offensive chanting, wherever it occurs in Scottish football, and that the club is actively tackling the issue. We apologise for any embarrassment that may have been caused to the members of the Rangers board. Spiers will be having a sneaky snigger to himself. -
Paul Hartley blasts pundit Pat Nevin for ‘talking garbage’

I didn't have much time for Hartley only because he made some of my match days a disaster day out, but I'll say this...he's spot on in everything he says about Sportscene, a dreadful sports programme not fit for purpose. -

I'd rather leave this discussion as I'm tired of it... My post regarding 'The Chase' was meant as a bit of fun, nothing else. Obviously the PC mob are all over it and it doesn't really make any sense at all to take it to another level. -

Don't give them an inch...we are where we are, it's their doing not ours. -
When I was a young lad following the Rangers, I was always informed by my fellow bears on the terracing that 'crossing' was an evil and never to be accepted by any manner of means. Davy Wilson and Willie Henderson never ever listened and just kept doing it. It filled me with joy when the cross resulted in a goal for us...I'd stick my fingers up to the opposition at the other end in jubilation. Later I found out what the guys on the terracing really meant. They were right behind Wilson and Henderson though, and so was I.
