  1. Every time I see Fernando Ricksen I feel a sense of shock and utter disbelief...what a terrible affliction for the man and his family having to go through.
  2. Don't mind admitting I wasn't too bothered when the 1st goal went in, had controlled jubilation when the Slovaks scored their 2nd and actually shouted "Yeeessssss" out loud at the 3rd. I'm an Englishman by birth, but being brought up in Scotland meant I'd always support the Scots...If it takes a real beating by England to get Strachan the boot then I'll be supporting England in November at Wembley, I might even rip up some turf and take a goalpost or two home with me. McGinn on for Fletcher? Wtf???
  3. Never have been comfortable with the idea of weans in prams wearing slabbered on fitba' gear...
  4. Just by looking at the picture of him...I'd say he's guilty!
  5. I actually hate these, when we were playing in the lower leagues I was content that Rangers were playing a league match or an obscure cup game. Don't know how fellow bears feel, but I can't wait until this break is over and we get down to the nitty gritty again! Today I learned Scotland were playing Lithuania (i think) in a World Cup Qualifier. Who gives a feck?
  6. McKay is a sensible guy with a fantastic career in front of him, he earns his money paid by adoring fans in their appreciation of his performances. Barton has had his career and couldn't give two hoots about that now. No comparison.
  7. I was all for Barton even knowing about all his baggage/previous, my confidence was based on faith in our new board and management staff, especially MW and SDoW. I could see his signing as an indication we 'meant business'. I feel I've had the wool pulled over my eyes...and as a run of the mill fan I'm concerned that this has happened to people holding vital positions of responsibility for the club. This post isn't about all the things that happened from 2011 to 2014, it's more to do with what is happening now! The current board and MW are culpable for the disastrous signing of Joey Barton.
  8. The lying 'bigoted' headlines will never cease...the attitude of players need to meet Rangers standard.
  9. If look at ians twitter link (post #69) you'll see he joked about the rules two years ago!!! At the rate Barton is going since he joined...he should probably be about ready to play around his 40th birthday.
  10. Nothing more than a publicity stunt.
  11. I'm no expert on the subject, but my take on the word H*n being widely used today against 'Rangers fans' is because of our generally accepted 'love' and 'support' for the Royal family. The term H*n was used to refer to a German, especially a German soldier in World War I or II. As we very well know, our Royal family descend from Germans. When you add in their obvious connection to the Protestant faith it fuels the argument that H*n could relate to Proddies which I reckon it has 'evolved' into - especially with the Catholic fraternity as opposed to the anti Royalty members of Scotland's society. Rangers fans 'use' of the word during the 50's 60' and 70's referred to the Irish not fighting the Germans. As I said, just my take on it.
  12. I know exactly what you mean. "Im going to the Pakis" was a common saying, but as you say PC has gotten out of hand...honestly today, if someone said out loud in a busy street the above, it would be met with weird looks, not sure if they'd be arrested though...maybe they would!
  13. My guess is the term 'Paki' was used like this - "Ya f@ckin Paki"..."Ya Paki b@stard"...which is very offensive, Charles Green referred to his fellow s**v as "My Paki friend" that was not offensive at all. If I was in another country and a fellow from there called me "Ya f@uckin Scot" I'd be very shocked, even more so if It was said to me daily by a large number of the local folk. Edit: Just reading back my post...the term Scot would then become offensive in that country like Paki is in the UK.
  14. "Paki" is a racial slur directed towards Pakistanis, and others of South Asian origin, including Indians and Bangladeshis. The slur is used chiefly in the United Kingdom. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paki_(slur)
  15. I'd love to be proved wrong too regards JB, I've a feeling it won't happen because it's too late for him, lots of water under the bridge with all his baggage flowing never ending. It's a shame really, this was a great opportunity for him (and Rangers) in the twilight of his 'stricken' career.
  16. Chris Burke Honours: 2004-05: An unused sub on 'Helicopter Sunday' 2007-08: Won the Scottish League Cup ( vs Dundee Utd on pens after 2-2 draw) 2006: Won Kirin Cup with Scotland
  17. The signing of Barton had 'RISK' written all over it. I was in favour of it only because of our previous 'RISKY' signing - Paul Gascoigne - he turned out ok. Before people 'jump' on me in my comparison of JB to Gazza...they were the same circumstances, though on a different scale. We need to remember where we have been.
  18. There can't be any other room in the world with more than this room...
  19. On reading that article I posted a link to, I'd forgot about him going public with this... (Quote from article) "It appears Rangers decided to act after Barton made an unauthorised appearance on TalkSPORT last Friday, where he labelled Warburton's initial decision to bar him from training for a week "strange". http://www.breakingnews.ie/sport/soccer/joey-barton-regrets-decision-to-join-rangers-755508.html
  20. It was after the 3 week suspension... http://www.breakingnews.ie/sport/soccer/joey-barton-regrets-decision-to-join-rangers-755508.html
  21. Everyone deserves a second chance, JB has had THREE already! His suspension on the Tuesday until the following Monday was his first warning, obviously he has said something again on the Monday resulting in his 3 week ban, so by then he'd used up his 2nd chance. He should have accepted the decision and kept mum. Of course, he did not. He again went public with "he would not have moved to Rangers if he had the benefit of hindsight". Rangers don't need him and although he will come back no doubt, I really can't see Warbs ever picking him again. Worth adding: When he signed for us, some Gersnetters were not too impressed with him coming to Rangers because of his 'previous', I completely disagreed with them and said so at the time adding that all that stuff was in the past and so deserves a clean break. How wrong I was.
  22. Honestly can't see any complaints being made regards flying the Saltire at Ibrox? Maybe someone took it home with them after the QOTS game and forgot to bring it back?
  23. I'm suffering from a virus of some sort and decided since I wasn't going out today would cheer myself up by watching the Man U, Man C and Gunners games...Maybe it was the virus I had, but all three games were dire and totally devoid of entertainment. Sunday ruined.
  24. Sorted that for you Sir.
  25. You still haven't had answers to any of your questions on here Bearger. 1. You do wonder why the club has dropped the Saltire when we are first and foremost a Scottish team? 2. Ian's link (Willie Vass) shows a pic with the banner "YOUR BADGE CARRIES WEIGHT - STAND TALL AND BE A RANGER" - your query is about a different banner with the words ....lodges....home. I'd like to know too what exactly it said, just out of curiosity mind.
