Rangers will have to pay Newcastle £500,000 if they are promoted
Bearman replied to Bearman's topic in Rangers Chat
The fact no medicals took place should mean it has to be challenged. -
Some say he needs a better man beside him in defence, some say he could do a job in midfield, I say get him away from the team altogether. The guy is a total liability, he almost cost us points at the weekend...AGAIN!

Payment must be made by Rangers owing to clause in the deal struck by Mike Ashley that took five Newcastle players to Ibrox Rangers will have to pay half a million pounds to Newcastle United if they are promoted to the Scottish Premier League because of a clause in the deal that saw five players move to Ibrox on loan from the English club. The deal was struck by Derek Llambias, the former managing director of Newcastle, who was appointed to the Rangers board by Mike Ashley last year. Llambias has since been removed from power following a boardroom counter-attack from a rival consortium, led by South-African-based businessman Dave King earlier this month. However, there is nothing the new regime can do to avoid making the payment other than remain in the First Division for another year. Although only one of the five Newcastle squad players, Haris Vuckic, has played regularly for Rangers since they arrived in January, Newcastle will receive the £500,000 lump sum even if the other four - as is expected - play no part in a successful promotion push under new manager Stuart McCall. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/11506329/Rangers-will-have-to-pay-Newcastle-500000-if-they-are-promoted.html

Stuart McCall says Kris Boyd still has a role to play for Rangers
Bearman replied to pete's topic in Rangers Chat
It's a bit of a downer for me...I was looking forward to Boydie shooting us up into the Premiership and doing what he does best in there. That didn't work out for us, ach well... -
Mykhaylychenko was a fine addition to the squad at the time but no way can I compare him to Vuckvic? Comparisons: McCall - MacDonald. MacDonald. Stein - Millar. Millar. Cooper - Wilson. Cooper. Greig - McCulloch. Greig. Gascoigne - Baxter. Baxter. Ritchie - Goram. Goram. 'Bud' Johnston - no comparison Greig - Gough, Greig. McCoist, same as Bud. Albertz - McMillan, Albertz. Laudrup - Wilson, Laudrup. Shearer - Johansen, Johansen. Shaw - no comparison Anyone else prepared to make comparisons be my guest.

Okay, and I believe you, but I'll try to build a bigger picture of what I see... Try and select 12 teams in Scotland who are worthy of the top tier. My twelve: Rangers C*ltic Hearts Aberdeen Dundee Utd Hibs Motherwell St Mirren ICT Dundee I'm struggling now... Partick Thistle, Ross Co. Hamilton? No! If we have one down one up it's ok. If we have two down two up we have a problem, especially when looking after those worthy of a place in the top tier.
-
With respect...the play-offs will definitely be scrapped on Rangers return. Too many Clubs will always look after themselves when it comes to Rangers and C*ltic. It's been going on for decades and will continue again in the same vein once Rangers are back. Rangers and C*ltic slugging it out for the title and protect the rest of substance.

I bet the play-off system in place just now will be abandoned once Rangers return to the top tier. In Scotland it is different to anywhere in Europe.
-
Maybe so, but recently introduced here on Scotland's reformation of the league set ups (while Rangers are in the lower divs)
-
I honestly believe the reason we have a play-off situation in the Championship today was in case Rangers didn't finish first...which turned out to be the case. Fans all round the country (Rangers haters) would never entertain league reconstruction to enable us to go up, and neither would Rangers fans...or would we

I wish he'd reveal just what went on under Ally.

This is just my take on it so don't throw the toys out the pram (that goes for everybody else) When the wheels started in motion on the takeover of Rangers, McCall quit Motherwell as boss then McCoist told his 'close friends' he would be leaving Rangers. McCall was the boards first pick even before they got in imo, and McCoist knew all about it. I reckon it was a very good pick by the board giving the circumstances. McCall has suddenly pulled a rabbit out the hat after such a short time in office. So kudos to the board for that.

League reconstruction?

Someone posted a link a week or so ago listing players who are currently without a club their 'value' was included in the information. Players like Vuckic with clubs must have a value too and it must surely be known. I know it can be up to what a club are prepared to pay to set his transfer fee, but he must have a known value?

Anybody on here attending? I'll be watching on tv. Colin Stein was the last player to score a hat-trick for Scotland 46 years ago (he scored 4 in an 8-1 victory v Cyprus) most of you guys on here probably weren't even born when that happened. Do you think a player or maybe even a couple of players can emulate Stein in this game?
