  1. Off the ball preparing the ground, as expected. Cosgrove..."whit do Rangers want oot o this?"..."what are they getting so angry about?"....in the usual dismissive tone. I think they call that misleading by omission. edit Just to add, I´m paraphrasing what Cosgrove said.
  2. What´s your style Compo ? Amadeus, Elton John or Chas & Dave
  3. Craig, it´s not about playing nice with PQ. It´s about taking advantage for ourselves with a telefonic presence in what will be an important 90 minutes or so regards the ongoing narrative. Given the extraordinary circumstances, I don´t see why we need to kiss and make-up so to speak. Not sure who it would be though, they´d need to be very sharp. We might be able to get a word in via a proxy, would very much depend on who. The SPFL will be looking to contain any discussion on accountability with a message to move-on and they´ll be well prepared. We need to take advantage of the bad feeling towards them and if the likes of Tom English agrees with us then all the better. --------------------------------- Generally speaking,.... Too many people are hung up in this never ending battle with the rest of the world where it seems we need to burn bridges and shout at people. We seem to collect enemies,...yet are somehow surprised when the same world consider us as enemy, move with greater politcal dexterity and pish all over us repeatedly....You don´t have to love everyone, you start by operating with much more savvy and a defined strategy. We are well down the road to Espanyolification. Generally, it´s not a good idea to do keep doing the same old things that were in part, why we find ourselves in such a bad place. The club too often seem to tailor output for X, Y or Z,... dependent on what the support are saying in social media. It might give the support the equivalent of a temporary high but it very raely does anything constructive. You do that for years and it contributes in no small measure to why we are where we are. Putting it bluntly, politically we have been and remain pretty f**king awful. The club, the support, the lot. It wasn´t so bad or in your face when the football team were successful but that was nearly a decade ago. Now the disparity between us and them is significant. Politically, financially and on the park...hence full blown Espanyolification is getting closer. We have made some good appointments within the club re. commerce, youth development, etc but the tangible benefits may take some time to come through. IMO, really what we need is three fold (ignoring the virus fallout for a moment) 1. Finance / better revenue generation 2. Above all a successful football team 3. A fresh holistic strategy regards the politics/media and the like.
  4. Bill, why not just hold your hand up for mis quoting me instead of the personal shit ? Even touch on the subject matter itself.
  5. If you are going to quote me then please do it accurately because your post is misleading and fails to grasp what I was saying. Below is part of what I typed..... It´s not about a consensus with the BBC as you mistakenly quoted. It´s about taking advantage of an important platform on a weekend when the SPFL will be looking to contain the narrative and if possible, between Sportsound and your Sunday press, kill it. It´s about exploiting the set of circumstances that currently exists as best we can. We need our voice heard in a debate that for once we may have some support (consensus) amongst those who will probably be on the programme and we have a long charge sheet to walk them through. As Gaffer said..."Only sustained pressure..." . Generally.......You want different results, open la vista and don´t keep doing or shouting the same thing. The mechanics of it would not be a studio visit, it would be a phone call.
  6. Last weeks programme was where and when things really kicked off. At the moment, it´s the single biggest influence regards the current narrative. Narrative for what Rangers are doing at the moment is crucial. The SPFL won´t be waiting to see what happens on Sportsound, they´ll be looking to control the message as best they can. Last weeks programme was where and when things really kicked off. ps. I don´t want to de-rail this thread, any further disagreement, point or whatever please use the SPFL thread where I´ve posted the same,...thank´s !
  7. Generally, that is what I´d call the predictable and customary reaction that helps ensure we stay on the same road that tuther side want us to be on. I´m not saying this is a silver bullet, it´s just an idea.
  8. I´m going to re-post here something I typed on 26th´s PQ thread because looking at it, there is a significant overlap. Nor do I want to de-rail the PQ thread. Context was conversation on the BeebScot Sportsound programme of last Saturday. ------------------------- I listened to the programme and it sounded to me as if the good guys had actually engineered a mini and temporary coup. In other words, our much maligned PR wing recognised the importance of these 90 minutes (pretty much all stakeholders would be listening and it produces headlines) and decided to engineer a takeover of the narrative. We won this particular staging post but made the mistake of over-egging our particluar contribution, when I don´t think we needed to or was it wise to do so. I fancy tomorrow will see another interesting programme and the SPFL will carefully be preparing the ground. Our problem is we can´t contribute directly because of the situation between us and BeebScot. Sometimes you have to do unexpected things to catch the enemy off guard....Why not make a late request and send someone in to put our case forward, if it´s thought it could deliver enough benefit and we could satisfactorily answer the obvious question/attack that would come our way regards "whistleblower evidence". -------------- This isn´t about changing the vote, that´s gone (unless legal challenge goes in sharpish and I´d rate that as doubtful). It´s about pointing the finger at SPFL (as we are doing), holding them to account and ultimately forcing people out of their positions (the likes of Tom English and even Michael Stewart would find it difficult to rally against us regards that). Not to forget the campaign to discredit the inevitable award of the title. We have ammo to use. Simply, a comprehensive timeline of what we actually know plus Partick´s Legal Opinion. Use it in a rational and calm manner looking for consensus. --------------------- If you want different results,...do something different
  9. Peter´s firefighters tend to take Saturday afternoons off given Sportsound don´t tend to pose their boss any problems. 10. First comes disbelief, quickly followed by anger and now I think you call this the bargaining stage. Spoiler alert* No boycott will ensue other than some individuals who will decide not to spend their hard earned cash on said tickets.
  11. I don´t think it´ll make any difference. The Geordies should find him a place deep in the North Sea to self isolate.
  12. In the normal world, Doncaster may have thought it time to move on and find something else. Thinking of the upcoming Corona C19 economic carnage, he´ll try his utmost to stick around.
  13. To be fair, the SPFL have been shown to have behaved in a quite disgraceful manner with a list of offences that came out via whatsup texts, considered legal opinion (PT) , various club representatives, etc. There is only a certain amount the club can do if it´s more or less left on it´s Jack Jones. We might yet cause a resignation, but I wouldn´t bet on it. An independent inquiry will cost money and the SPFL will tell the clubs it´s better that you the members get it. IMO what the club did wrong was miscalculate when it came to deciding on the course and tone of action relative to the chances of winning the fight/ evidence actually held (I presume and think that we have nothing else). Other clubs were always going to go down the route of self-interest, it´s normal. We don´t have a friendly media although you could argue we made good use of the BBC Radio Scotland Sportsound time last Saturday. Which if engineered, the new PR chap can take some credit for. It was certainly right to highlight what was going on and the SPFL and individuals involved have suffered further reputational damage. Not that it seems to bother them. Still find it hard to believe Teflon has stuck around for so long and as for his salary, he´s taking the pish. A negative irony is that in the actual world, where nothing is fair or has to be reasonable, it might be us that suffer more on a reputational basis / ongoing stick from usual suspects.
  14. From a PLC perspective, Celtic very definately do need Rangers.
  15. Thank´s for the article elfideldo !! Always an interesting read ?
  16. Withdrawal of the Blue Pound was heavily pushed on the messageboards in 2012 and look what happened. Who knows, with some of the timescales being banded about, we might need a second reconstruction within the same close season ? 14-10-10-10...becomes..... 12-12 ?
  17. Wasn´t going to be any other way. Pushing reconstruction to the fore has catered for the self-interest of the relegated clubs. Frankly, they´d be stupid to do otherwise (unless reconstruction isn´t such a sure thing as it currently seems) You have to think Celtic have indicated a willingness to vote in favour.
  18. You´ll always get some decisions go against you but I would say we have had a little more than our fair share this season and cite Clancy as clearly the worst. The OF game at New Year we did the business despite of Clancy because we were good enough and simply better. What I would say is Morelos gets refed and treated very differently but at the same time when you know that he has to reign in the red mist. He was doing it up until December before going walkabout again. We also get some decisions go for us I recall a week when one week we get the Morelos offside goal at Hearts and the next we lose a Lafferty goal at Dens park for an incorrect offside. Bottomline Our squad wasn´t strong enough to get through January and then christ knows what got to the players (Braga aside) but it wasn´t bad or dishonest referring.
  19. Stay Calm and breath ! When you are at that paygrade so to speak you need to be able to have a degree of foresight (you might not always get it 100% right). You certainly shouldn´t be continually repeating the same mistakes. After the Partick Thistle legal opinion was made public, it didn´t take rocket science to see what the SPFL would do (go back on this thread and you´ll see what I wrote/ below) and for us, it all depended on what evidence we had. I was optimistic at first but that as I said was down to giving Douglas Park and the approach in general the benefit of the doubt. Do you really think we still hold an ace and are waiting for the right time ? We´ve seen this story unfold too many times and know the ending only too well. I only hope I´m wrong and you can trample all over me. Posted Tuesday at 17:08 The SPFL will have their own legal opinion and it may well be different to that of Partick Thistle. However, I think it very difficult for the SPFL to contemplate the courts at this juncture and circumstance. Damage limitation would almost certainly include a willingness to reconstruct the Leagues so no team is relegated. In so doing they will limit opposition in terms of numbers. The individuals may try and weather the storm, push Teflon or Shifty and hope it appeases the rest. In such a situation, It´d be up to us to go for the throat (whistleblower evidence?) but it´s not good not to have many friends in the media.
  20. I don´t buy into blaming the refs. Bottomline, our players haven´t been good enough and/or haven´t been able to hold their bottle at important junctures. The other important aspect is squad strength, that is what tends to win titles. Things have steadily improved under SG but since the turn of the year the team fell off a cliff,... which makes you ask why ?
  21. The widespread consequences of the timeline mentioned would render most of our current conversations fairly meaningless. My own guess (based on not a lot) is that it won´t be as long as that.
  22. Naw, your memory fails you. You seem to enjoy a scrap, JFK was the last one I remember. My politics/opinion differs from the majority, so it figures I´ll be involved in many such exchanges. I gave Douglas Park and indeed the whole approach the benefit of the doubt up until yesterday when it became clear to me we had been too easily out manouvered and the Howitzer statement was more airpistol regards it´s substance. If this suddenly takes a 180º turn, I´ll gladly await your reminder. We haven´t had a blinder played against us. They´ve (SPFL) been clumsy and made it only too apparent why they already have a poor reputation. Read Uillaem´s post an hour or so ago for more detail on immediate consequences, he put´s it much better than I can. The endgame here for who is in control of the game is full blown Espanyolification and it´s looking more likely with every passing year.
  23. Good post Uilleam !! Another step on the long and painful process of Espanyolification.
  24. Pretty much the same type of reaction we have been getting for years after the same type of event, similar tactics, similar result. As I said, you have to change the way you operate, change the people, fundamentally change. No sign it is happening at the moment. What happens next re.share issue / is someone else coming in ? On-field, we need lots of cash from upstairs and a support who don´t generate unreasonable expectation levels that throws another baby out of the bath otherwise this 10IAR business may end up consuming us. edit ps. I know that the cash and expectation level request are more thanprobably stretching it.
