SPFL Season declaration challenged legally (ongoing discussion)

Withdrawal of the Blue Pound was heavily pushed on the messageboards in 2012 and look what happened. Who knows, with some of the timescales being banded about, we might need a second reconstruction within the same close season ? 14-10-10-10...becomes..... 12-12 ? -

Wasn´t going to be any other way. Pushing reconstruction to the fore has catered for the self-interest of the relegated clubs. Frankly, they´d be stupid to do otherwise (unless reconstruction isn´t such a sure thing as it currently seems) You have to think Celtic have indicated a willingness to vote in favour. -

You´ll always get some decisions go against you but I would say we have had a little more than our fair share this season and cite Clancy as clearly the worst. The OF game at New Year we did the business despite of Clancy because we were good enough and simply better. What I would say is Morelos gets refed and treated very differently but at the same time when you know that he has to reign in the red mist. He was doing it up until December before going walkabout again. We also get some decisions go for us I recall a week when one week we get the Morelos offside goal at Hearts and the next we lose a Lafferty goal at Dens park for an incorrect offside. Bottomline Our squad wasn´t strong enough to get through January and then christ knows what got to the players (Braga aside) but it wasn´t bad or dishonest referring. -

Stay Calm and breath ! When you are at that paygrade so to speak you need to be able to have a degree of foresight (you might not always get it 100% right). You certainly shouldn´t be continually repeating the same mistakes. After the Partick Thistle legal opinion was made public, it didn´t take rocket science to see what the SPFL would do (go back on this thread and you´ll see what I wrote/ below) and for us, it all depended on what evidence we had. I was optimistic at first but that as I said was down to giving Douglas Park and the approach in general the benefit of the doubt. Do you really think we still hold an ace and are waiting for the right time ? We´ve seen this story unfold too many times and know the ending only too well. I only hope I´m wrong and you can trample all over me. Posted Tuesday at 17:08 The SPFL will have their own legal opinion and it may well be different to that of Partick Thistle. However, I think it very difficult for the SPFL to contemplate the courts at this juncture and circumstance. Damage limitation would almost certainly include a willingness to reconstruct the Leagues so no team is relegated. In so doing they will limit opposition in terms of numbers. The individuals may try and weather the storm, push Teflon or Shifty and hope it appeases the rest. In such a situation, It´d be up to us to go for the throat (whistleblower evidence?) but it´s not good not to have many friends in the media. -

I don´t buy into blaming the refs. Bottomline, our players haven´t been good enough and/or haven´t been able to hold their bottle at important junctures. The other important aspect is squad strength, that is what tends to win titles. Things have steadily improved under SG but since the turn of the year the team fell off a cliff,... which makes you ask why ? -

The widespread consequences of the timeline mentioned would render most of our current conversations fairly meaningless. My own guess (based on not a lot) is that it won´t be as long as that. -

Naw, your memory fails you. You seem to enjoy a scrap, JFK was the last one I remember. My politics/opinion differs from the majority, so it figures I´ll be involved in many such exchanges. I gave Douglas Park and indeed the whole approach the benefit of the doubt up until yesterday when it became clear to me we had been too easily out manouvered and the Howitzer statement was more airpistol regards it´s substance. If this suddenly takes a 180º turn, I´ll gladly await your reminder. We haven´t had a blinder played against us. They´ve (SPFL) been clumsy and made it only too apparent why they already have a poor reputation. Read Uillaem´s post an hour or so ago for more detail on immediate consequences, he put´s it much better than I can. The endgame here for who is in control of the game is full blown Espanyolification and it´s looking more likely with every passing year. -

Pretty much the same type of reaction we have been getting for years after the same type of event, similar tactics, similar result. As I said, you have to change the way you operate, change the people, fundamentally change. No sign it is happening at the moment. What happens next re.share issue / is someone else coming in ? On-field, we need lots of cash from upstairs and a support who don´t generate unreasonable expectation levels that throws another baby out of the bath otherwise this 10IAR business may end up consuming us. edit ps. I know that the cash and expectation level request are more thanprobably stretching it. -

It´s ironic but SG is more savvy about his environment/PR than pretty much anyone else at Ibrox or at least that is how it looked for a while. re. petty tank line...I´d add #pathetic -

If you keep doing more or less the same thing.....you´ll get similar results. Change the way you operate Make the right changes Do things better Pick battles you can win and don´t just howl at the moon to appease the support with little thought to eventual outcome. -

Jackson will do pretty much the bidding of anyone, if you can be his friend. Paul Murray gave him material, Jackson went in to bat on his behalf (2012-2015) Kenny Miler gave him material, Jackson went in to bat on his behalf (noticeably at contract renewal time/ arrival Pedro) Scott Brown gave him material, Jackson went in to bat on his behalf. (various) SPFL have given him material &/or promises, Jackson went in to bat on his behalf. (currently) Jackson/DR reach more people than Spiers and hence becomes valuable, above his actual worth. It´s not about parking big tanks without ammo #control_the_narrative -

There has been a Groundhog Day feel to events within Scottish football for nearly a decade (both on and off field) and even when we know what the script is, we do the same thing. It wasn´t even the first time we´d used the Shifty Eye article. On the pitch we need players, who as well as ability, can cope with an expectation level that the money we have can´t buy. Very occasionally you´ll get a Morelos type signing whose price had nothing to do with the high level he performed at for a while...but generally you get what you pay for. Not enough funds, look to your own youth players and cross your fingers. -

They haven´t jumped ship as such. Everyone is on their own ship and they are all called Self-Interest. That basic premise is very predictable and should be worked into any club thinking regards the strategy to take within this clusterf**k. -

The media are forver looking for contentious Old Firm column inches and are there to be taken advantage of by the club. David Graham, the new PR man was appointed (Craig, btw I know his job title wasn´t PR). His first battle was to weather a storm attacking himself and was the time that the initial groundwork should have been going in regards a discrediting campaign re. 9IAR (I said this at the time in a thread on here). To infer we have no friends/ex-players who would do that is simply not true. Off the top of my head I´d start with 9IAR Captain, Richard Gough. I´d have 9IAR manager Walter Smith ready to go, Souness, McCoist, then I´d look at figures not directly connected with the club,... etc, etc You can say the media hate us but if we know that, we have to act accordingly and box clever. Parking the tanks on the lawn without any shells hasn´t served us well in the past and won´t now or in the future. Instead it will be treated as comedy time for Scottish Fitbaw. It smells more like appeasement to the support without much thought beyond that. There have been a lot of good appointments throughout the club from the football operation to the business side, etc but we have never really addressed the PR challenge properly. Granted, it´s a difficult remit given where we have been these past few years but we should have got some experienced professionals in rather than Traynor/Level5. To move forward as a club, the only way it will start to happen appears to be on the pitch and that means getting on top of a very well resourced and determined rival and as we sit, that doesn´t look like happening anytime soon. The C19 fallout may change the landscape but we go into it with bigger financial issues. It´s not a hopeless picture but it´s a very difficult one and the obvious worry is that if we have another couple of unsuccessful years, everything starts to drift, starting with ST numbers. One saviour could be a diffferent European league/Escape to England structure but we´ve been waiting for that for how long ? -

Do you fight with your shadow ? ? Let´s just leave it with what I said in the beginning (in italics below). We all know that DP is interim chairman, I didn´t say he wasn´t, it´s still a bad start, regardless. If this heads where it looks like going, it´s a bad start for Douglas Park and the new PR man. ----- Beyond that.... I like most will have hoped that Douglas Park would be more savvy and for that reason, I thought that we might come through on the statement bluster. This is one of those moment that will leave scars and will make efforts to discredit the title in the eyes of the general football public more difficult. -

The league was always going to be called, we´ve pretty much known that for ages. As far as that goes, it´s about discrediting the award so it is generally accepted that Celtic don´t move onto to 9 this season. We couldn´t get that right either. We had Alastair Johnson come out in the DR article talking about 8 and an half,...two or three weeks after a more subtle drip, drip approach should have been taken using ex-players, friends in the game and pushing it every 2 or 3 days. -

When Douglas Park had a go at Shifty for the Private Eye article this morning (Daily Record), the SPFL office would have been almost happy,...as it smelt like desperation heading towards a familiar result. Next time we send out the angry statement, it´ll just be laughed at and mocked by the Scottish game in general. If this heads where it looks like going, it´s a bad start for Douglas Park and the new PR man. I feel sorry for the younger generation of supporter who haven´t seen a successful Rangers team and worry about the future. -

Looks pretty much like the above from yesterday. Waiting on Doncaster resigning before pushed. What do we do now ? We´ll have very few allies (clubs) in any battle if reconstruction happens. We know that we have more enemies than friends in the media. This is a time when we could do with being on at least talking terms with BBC Scotland. I´m not confident that the whistleblower evidence will be enough to bring as many down as we´d like (obviously hope I´m wrong) Partly because of our lack of media friends. -

The SPFL would have to be very confident of their legal position and might be prepared to seriously push for reconstruction to prevent relegation for the three clubs. -

I can see why you might say that but don´t agree. Let´s look at the period 2006 - 2015, we had leaders (as a club) who actively sought division within fan politics for their own interests and it contributed to how events played out during a very complicated period. On the other side of the city, unpalatable as it is, Fergus McCann actually led the club in a much more constructive way. It built the base for where they are today and therefore makes it very difficult for us and easier for them to keep their distance. That brings us to the SPFL and why IMO it is important to take advantage of the current battle and force the Celtic Minded controlling structure out and further discredit the seemingly inevitable, eventual calling of positions. You won´t reverse things overnight but we have to start winning our share of the battles. For that, we need leadership, a holistic strategy (and money).
