  1. Whilst others did fairly well, I didn't think there was a stand-out but for me, the most noteworthy performance was provided by Alfredo. It was the best I have seen him this calendar year and we can count the days left in it, on one hand. I think he deserves a start in Paisley.
  2. Heart in mouth time at the corner 5min 20 secs into this video. Doig, the 18 year old down the left might be worth keeping tabs on or a cash offer, if the price was right. Some of his cross balls reminded me of Barisic.
  3. The SG brand doesn't half get us the attention !! PQ must be beeling ! If DK was behind this appointment, kudos in so many different ways !
  4. They had limited options on the bench but I thought they'd end up putting McGregor on as a centre forward. He was the one who scored the late equaliser two years ago.
  5. We rode our luck in the second half and it was a bit like the corresponding game two years ago today but without the bad ending. When we went a goal up it reminded me of the don't whether to stick or twist approach we ended up paying for in Paisley. Win is a win, not complaining !! 12 on the bounce, we move on or back to Paisley.
  6. Must dash but will read later....... Wonder if FatEck thinks Haribo will be a matchwinner today ?
  7. I'll take the full four minutes with Irving Welsh extolling the virtures of Hibs expansive game to a backing of The Proclaimers rendering an instrumental Sunshine on Leith, if we can get a repeat 6-1 victory.
  8. Hibs have been a thorn in our side for a number of years now. We need to show them why this Rangers side is now a couple of levels above, especially winning mental strength. Doidge is suspended but I think their offensive game depends a lot more on Martin Boyle. If he plays well, our defence will have more work to do than is the norm. They are missing a few players but I think it will only impact the strength they can sit on the bench. Middle to front, it's an interesting team selection for SG&Co, with plenty of options. That said, we need to get the starting XI right and not have to chase things from the bench.
  9. I'm usually as cautious as they come about predicting the winning of football matches but I kind of share your optimism regards a relative wallop. I'd obviously take any kind of win but I think title winning sides tend to send out markers at certain stages of the season, with the festive season being one of the most traditional and important. What we can't do is drop points and allow doubt and talk of momentum shifts to dominate next week. The last time Celtic were going for 10IAR, I was with my Dad on a train that we boarded at Leuchars, going to Edinburgh and with a tiny transistor radio held close to the window for a signal, we listened to David Francey commentating on the New Year OF fixture at Ibrox. That day was a marker, 3-0 win. I didn't realise the relevance at the time but I hoped we scored as we passed Markinch.
  10. A more professional approach to running a football operation is bearing fruit. I've waited nearly 50 years to see it. We've had similar ambition in the past but went about it in a half-arsed manner that didn't employ much in the way of holistic foresight or/and financial support.
  11. As the proud recipient of a Green Beret, I can only sympathise with you that you had to settle for ra' purple tyin. Best tracer display I can tremember seeing was 1 in 1 being used from two GPMGs, both on sustained fire mode. Going forward, the Middleton tracer like trajetory will be frowned upon because of the Scud Impact Weight Effect on the foreheid.
  12. Learning from experience. You need Plans A, B and C......as well as just changing personel. If we get a repeat of the Livingston 0-0 scenario, we'll end going the more direct route earlier.
  13. Brainfart didn't cost so Kamara coasts it. How good was that finish Just about all players got slightly better than average pass marks which translates into an efficient nights work and is much better than depending too much on individuals.
  14. Prisoners get it easy compared to back in the day, all things go, basic training in the Marines. You go back further than I but Wee Tam was the considered artist of finding a head wearing a Blue jersey. The goalscorers always got the headlines but McLean deserved them just as much. He preferred more of a floated aerial ball, akin to the delivery of a hand grenade from an extremely strong arm....not to mention his ability to pick a pass.
  15. Pretty much a textbook away win that does more than the Motherwell game to say we've got by a blip of sorts. Crucially, as far as the League goes, a performance blip rather than of results. That's 11 wins on the bounce now and half the fixtures played. Textbook is an opening goal on around 20 minutes, followed up by another before HT and then a third, early in the second half. A third of all league goals we have scored come in the period from 15 - 30 minutes. The next most productive spell is 20%, from 45 - 60. That tends to help SG&Co in offloading for players like Roofe, Kent and Davis. An important part in keeping everything on the rails. Good to see Aribo and Hagi contribute so much because we need more middle to front players on their game. Talking of which, Roofe is surely the man who is now first choice as central striker. He can link-up play and is scoring goals where Morelos on last nights half an hour, can link play but cannae score for toffee. Hibs will be an interesting challenge but we will approach the game with confidence. Hopefully Ryan Jack will be able to get some minutes. What a useless, unprofessional pr!ck #O'Halloran
  16. As far as they go, Madden is as good as you'll get. I wouldn't be blaming Madden for past OF defeats in games he has been Ref, it's been our own fault. We are starting to win more OF games now because we are a better team, not because of the ref. We were good enough to beat them a year ago, despite Kevin Clancy.
  17. If you want to talk about a group of games, It's going to be about a strongest XV11 - If Jack comes back in then you have a natural and solid option to rotate - Barisic has to start all games - Aribo needs minutes and an opportunity to get back to form because he is a gamechanger and we need to see at least one of him or Kent get back to early season form - Hagi is effective and merits minutes - Roofe can't be flogged - Alfie (for some he's just had his best two games of the season) remains first choice, let's see how he goes tonight - Itten will play a part - Balogun will probably get starts - There will probably be injuries - Zungu is an option although if Jack returns and Davis stays fit, he won't be starting in these next few games - Could Jones or Middleton yet be the Wingers who came in from the cold ? I do love a Middleton corner swinging in. The trajectory reminds me of being frozen on Dartmoor watching 1 in 1 tracer rounds illuminating the night sky. It's the Management that need to get it right..........Horses for Courses
  18. Thought the same, he is now a different shape compared to the first half of last season. You'd imagine it is something to do with bulking up over the long Covid lay-off rather than simply eating more chips and biscuits. It might help certain areas of his game but IMO it takesaway from his sharpness and mobility when getting into goalscoring positions or getting ahead of a defender.
  19. Just read this after coming from The Looking Glass War The Lounge., where so many girls are banging their drums. Despite the banter with The Night Manager, I´m sure we're really all Absolute Friends ! Going back to the football, I note Lennon back on the offensive #Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Cnut
  20. I've only gone and let it slip........What kind of tribute to David Cornwall is that ?
  21. For me, it's the cumulative effort required and spent. For example, we will need to go to Paisley with all guns blazing and a very strong team.....that will then have the OF game a few days later. Unless forced by injury, I don't think Zungu will start games. But is Davis capable of an intense programme? We could really do with Ryan Jack back asap.
  22. At around 65 mins in, I couldn't watch the patient side to side passing any longer and went for a walk, thinking there would be more chance of a goal if I left them to it. Got back, saw 3-1 win,....that'll dae !!.............. and needless to say, same circumstances in the next few games and I'll be out patrolling the beach, in case the UK Navy invade Europe ?
  23. It is, in that we need to keep winning League games but it only takes us to Base Camp, regarding an assault on the K2 of SPFL fixture runs.... 23/12/20 PRE St. Johnstone 19 : 00 Rangers 26/12/20 PRE Rangers 13 : 30 Hibernian 30/12/20 PRE St. Mirren 16 : 00 Rangers 02/01/21 PRE Rangers 13 : 30 Celtic 10/01/21 PRE Aberdeen 16 : 00 Rangers 17/01/21 PRE Motherwell 13 : 00 Rangers 23/01/21 PRE Rangers 16 : 00 Ross County 27/01/21 PRE Hibernian 20 : 45 Rangers Get it right and the post split run will likely be dead rubbers, but in a good way. No need to say what things will look like if we get it wrong. "Eight games to win a League"
  24. That ain't nuthin on Big Cedric's numbers against Motherwell ? 41 mnutes played 3 goals scored A goal every 13 and a half minutes minutes
  25. Agreed, I said a week or so ago that this period, up to and including Hibs (A) in January would be where we win or possibly, lose the title. Seven points (+GD) is a healthy gap but it could flip in a fortnight. On the other hand, foot on the throat and we can close the deal before Feburary.
