  1. He'll be busy painting the bedsheets as Peter changes direction and starts lobbying Scottish Government to keep fans out of Parkheid.
  2. Game started as I thought it would. They were the hungrier and wanted it more, without Jack and Arfeld we struggled in midfield and the ball kept coming back at us. I was surprised at just how blunt we were in the first half and had thought our counter-attacks would carry more threat. Aribo, as he showed in September 2019, isn't made for that position in an OF match. But they didn't have the quality to make their superiority count and we had the best player on the pitch keeping out anything on target. The second save from Eduoard (even though it was offside) was out of this world. We hung in there and eventually did them. Two good balls from player of the season, Tav. The pass to Morelos (Bitton red) and the corner (goal). But that is now just noise,...it's the points that make prizes and when the whistle went on nearly 95 minutes, SG looked like a man who was already thinking of how best to go about getting the next three on offer. I don't live in Scotland, nor do I know of any Celtic fans where I do live but what an opportunity for heavily sarcastic banter back in Glasgow. There are just so many different angles to take ?
  3. Bottomline is that I'm happy enough to leave it with SG and RW.
  4. - we have young players to back-up squad - if Barjonas (22 this month) isn't near the level, why is he still here ? - Dickson did well against Falkirk and looked confident - money is tight and we continue in unpredictable times
  5. Bill, that is a good example of anti-semitism. ------------- Regards the midfield, the young lad Dickson can play #pathway
  6. McGregor the Keeper: World Class !!!! McGregor the goalscorer: Thanks bud !!! Got Away with it up until sending off but capitalised and got the three points Points make Prizes Couple of weeks back I posted "8 Games to Win a League" 4 Down,...4 to Go 10/01/21 PRE Aberdeen 16 : 00 Rangers 17/01/21 PRE Motherwell 13 : 00 Rangers 23/01/21 PRE Rangers 16 : 00 Ross County 27/01/21 PRE Hibernian 20 : 45 Rangers The other point I'd make is that having played every club H & A, we've reached a point where an arguement could be made to call League if covid forced a decision.
  7. Can we interchange with Liverpool and bring up Salah and Mane today ?
  8. I think they'll target Morelos early doors for those yellow/red cards challenges that the ref will probably let go #FirstOneFree Odds are on SG trusting Alfredo. It's a risk but AM is more than capable of providing a reward. There would be a risk of Itten getting lost in a first OF start.
  9. Last night, I watched The Godfather again. Thinking about Cosgrove in Sri Lanka brings an unpleasant image of his ugly coupon to mind, on the shoulders of the ungainly body of Colonel Walter E.Kurtz (Marlon Brando/Apocalypse Now) leader of a jungle cult.
  10. That as well, undoubtedly. I feel sorry for his Mrs and wee Jack, but maybe his property portfolio allows for some considerable distancing.
  11. Via various platforms and various accents, he preaches so much that I think most just nod without really listening. For me, his use of various accents underlines a fundamentally dishonest approach to communication. He is selling, rather than informing and puts a premium on how the mesage sounds. Accuracy in the detail of what he drones on about isn't nearly as important to him and is often deliberately twisted or left out.
  12. or just someone at it, I reckon the later. But as SG would say, it's about us. Today is the day for the big performances. From the first whistle, be right at it, take the initiative. Biggest game for a decade, don't leave anything out on the pitch. I hope the players are less nervous than I am !!
  13. Illustrative of how the EPL is going this season. #MuchofaMuchness
  14. It's more about SG&Co for me. They need to ensure the players go into the game with the right mindset. SG&Co need to think back to the opening league defeats against them in his first two seasons. Being conservative in our approach would be handing them an intiative that might lose us the match. It'd be fair to say that the lessons have been taken on board since but this particular game presents a very different set of circumstances that have Celtic almost approaching Last Chance Saloon.
  15. One person who is completely focused is SG and when it comes to the way to approach or start a game......you have to hope that his influence is very much taken on board by the full starting XI. I remember going into the game two years ago thinking we'd struggle for energy after a hectic December but it was the first time I heard SG use the phrase "empty the tank" and our hunger for the game overwhelmed Celtic (1-0, Jack), who had been favourites to win the game. Strange as it may sound, we have to find a way to be as desperate as them to win this game and from the very start.
  16. Agreed and I'd point to the absence of Jack and Arfield as being a huge miss. They will be all over our midfield with a high press. Has Steve Davis got enough in the tank to up his levels for this game ? Jacks absence will probably mean our full backs are a little more conservative in the exploits going forward. The other perhaps more important thing for me is, what team will want it more ? My worry is that their absolute desperation and need to win, may have them taking the early initiative as we tend to start slow and in the last couple of weeks giving the opposition early opportunites to score......It's a different type of pressure than we've become accustomed to. Can't say I have good vibes about this match.
  17. We'll have no main stand tickets left to sell if we keep going like this ?
  18. You can imagine Stuart Cosgrove having a look at that line-up and coming away with the line that none are able or willing to play for Scotland and the manager has a big hoose down in Liverpool.
  19. There should be no problem in having everyone focus on only the next game, at least for the next couple of days.
  20. It's about what team he thinks is better equipped to do a collective job, facing this specific challenge. It's not just about who is playing well. ie. Kent will start #NoSentiment
  21. Saturday (Celtic) is huge and is about killing any chance of a change in momentum at what is traditionally a pivotal time. We win, we reach camp 2. We lose, we go back to base camp approach.
  22. That's what we've been doing of late. Enough good players getting 6 out of 10's to be able to maintain winning run against provincial clubs. As you say, we need the average to go up on Saturday to 7 or so with a couple of 8´s and even a 9. At the moment, Kamara is the glue.
  23. There was talk of odds in another thread. Any chance of getting a price for a Place bet on this League? 1. Dado 2. Rousseau
  24. Hats off to the team for getting over the Paisley defeat and putting together 3 more league wins on the bounce. If we were only at K2 Base Camp 2/3 weeks ago, now after the December fixtures negotiated successfully, we've reached Camp 1 (of 4) on the way up to the summit. It's possible to get to Camp 2 in just 90 minutes but it is the most difficult part of the climb and the weather is unpredictable. As others have suggested, we are going to have to up performance levels on Saturday from what we've been producing in recent weeks, in what has in the main been a league performance blip (rather than results). When it comes to defending, we are missing Ryan Jack but haven't really been punished as yet. I think we have to go for the throat, look to take the initiative early, rather than the now customary slow start that builds into a head of steam 15-20 minutes in. If we allow them to take the initiative, they have the players to take advantage and I think we would struggle to turn it round. SG&Co have had their fingers burnt in this fixture when taking a conservative approach. He'll know what we have to do and it'll be down to the players to go to the well once again and put in one of those performance levels you reach, only a few times a season. Difficult to overstate the importance of this game.
  25. 20/21 textbook first half - relatively slow start - start to get into game and score between 15-30mins - add second before HT 20/21 textbook 2nd half - 3rd goal between 45-60mins - then start the subs 60+ A third of our league goals have been scored in a 1/6 part of the game (15-30) Taking penalties off, Roofe is now topscorer in the league.
