  1. Excellent result ! It's around 1.5M euros secured for tonights work. Around 0.5M for each.... - a win - at least a second place finish (could double if we finish 1st) - last 32 participation
  2. Got away with a very poor 45 minutes. ps.... Bassy, Barisic, Tav, Goldson, Tav Last five goals all scored by defenders !!
  3. Bet365 were offering odds as to who you were going to finish second behind this season ? For old times sake... 1-0; Tav
  4. I think that is the issue here. The ruling as such, is within how the SPFL say they deal with such circumstances. However, the extraordinary circumstance of a global pandemic surely has to be considered in this instance, given the reason why Celtic requested the fixture change. Blair (SPFL) gave Peter his desired Old Firm Fixture date and how that rebounded on poor Peter. It could happen again “The best laid schemes o' mice an' men / Gang aft a-gley.”
  5. Never been better, thanks ! ....Definitely still breathing (a la Wim Hoff) but more sea swimming rather than ye auld yomping. Put it this way, I'm mid fifties and could breeze The Paras basic training although still a way to go before I'll be able to get past the SBS tests at Poole ?
  6. The only real option is to keep the plates spinning and hope that we reach the other side by next May (Title) and August (Euro GpStage qualification/preferably CL). Up until this point, the current board (majority Rangers fans) have been doing a very decent job improving the infrastucture and adding value. Not to mention, the finance they have put in to keep those plates spinning. However, they are not bottomless pits and the club may need further injections of cash in the coming months/years beyond the projections. As Forlan has said, those who stump up the money are really who should decide where it goes.
  7. Like the Mr. Beaton (Castore), he seems to have signed up for the full tour of Rangers podcasts. Like Mr.Beaton, he has something to propose/sell. Don't get me wrong. I more than recognise what Dave King has done for the club and put my grain of sand toward the good fight back in the day but IMO, you have to judge things on their particular merits and as they come along. The current fragility is financial rather than the make-up of the board (btw. already mostly Rangers fans).... and that is what IMO, needs addressed within what is a relationship of vested interests.
  8. The vested interests of C1872 and Rangers make this somewhat different regarding approach. Survival is priority Control of what could (if things don't go well) become a financial basket case is of little use or value for that matter. Financially supporting the club (the board are already doing a good job and are emotionally invested themselves) so as we can get to a stronger financial base to work from makes more sense to me. At that point, the control % aspect could be focused upon.
  9. Are Holicom still doing the PLC's PR or is it someone else? I just saw something that reeks of deflection...... https://www.theguardian.com/news/2020/dec/03/rangers-football-forgotten-tragedy-ibrox-stadium-disaster-glasgow
  10. That might have been so in 2015 but now ? - Have a look at the accounts - Have a look at who is currently sitting on the Rangers board
  11. Aye, too many never learn lessons.
  12. Despite the good vibes surrounding the club at present, the only real foundation to it is that we have increased asset value in terms of potential player trading.....and that is something that can diminish relatively quickly dependent on circumstances. If the football team can maintain it's general consistency of result through to next September, both domestically and in Europe, the foundations would look a lot stronger (ideally CL group stage rather than ELGS or in worst case scenario, no GpStage). In other words, we are not out of the woods as yet and you would have thought C1872 investment strategy would take that into consideration.
  13. Is the tin foil interfering with your signal and not allowing you to read/interpret what I posted ? To be clearer, when I say New Money, I'm saying that any monies raised should IMO, be going to the club, rather than buying shares from current shareholders. The rational being that this should surely be about what is best for the football club, first and foremost.
  14. I note the overnight carfuffle over on FF on specific things/allegations to do with this matter and the customary division based mainly on faith or lack of, in individuals involved. Disregarding the difficulty of raising large sums of money in what will be a time of general economic carnage,...shouldn't it simply be about what is best for the football club? IM(inexpert)O, the recent accounts spell out the need for new money.
  15. I think it is very clear that most clubs see the SPFL handling of the last few weeks as "a (bad) joke". It's about damage limitation/ survival for clubs now and most will act with those priorities in mind. That's why two of the three pargraphs of our statement on Sunday said....... THERE are key issues to be discussed and agreed within Scottish football including the circumstances and dates on which football can resume, the health and safety of all involved and the financial implications for members. It is vital that those involved in making those decisions have the confidence and support of member clubs. An independent investigation provides a route to achieving this. https://rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/independent-investigation
  16. Our statement on Sunday says we will present the evidence to the clubs in advance of the GM. I think Rangers recognise that to have a chance of gaining enough support in GM, that now becomes the appropriate time to show the clubs what we have and if we only go with what is out there, we'll be onto plumbs.
  17. The SPFL have shown that they have a weak hand. In this case, it's difficult to spin a web if you don't have anything useful to use. If they go negative and look to discredit, many watching club chairmen won't be impressed. We should be careful not to give them anything. The statement on Sunday was I think, just right. It's pretty much all on the card that hasn't yet been upturned.

    Cup Finals

The year 2051 The Gersnet messageboard will have morphed into some virtual reality studio on a cloud. Scott´s great great grandkid will have started a conversation on Cup Finals and there will be an old foggy who can remember the scenes after winning the 2021 Scottish Cup against Arbroath. The Red Lichties having become the second power in Scottish Fitbaw Post C19.

    Cup Finals

At least we won it in the end ! The end of season league game at Easter Road that season (after the 3 Cup Final matches and losing the league/treble chance) was just more than people were ready to take. I went along and there was literally a sprinkling of folk on the terraces. I sat down with nobody within 10 metres, surreal. My favourite Cup Final attended was the win over Dundee Utd in 1981. Like the Hibs Final in 79, it started with a goalless draw. We all went trooping off to the bus dissappointed because Ian Redford had missed a last minute penalty but very glad that he did by HT in the replay.
  20. Is it not that 2 clubs need to back the resolution and/or call for a General Meeting The requisitioners !!! (blast fae the past) In such a General Meeting, 75% of the 42 clubs would need to back the call for an Independent Enquiry to get it through. ie. at least 32 clubs from the 42 Until the clubs see the evidence for themselves, it'll be pretty pointless to do any polling or estimates.
  21. Interesting chat ! Thanks to all those who took part. Would be good to see @JohnMc post his views on the board during this lockdown but I appreciate he might be busy with Sonia !
  22. The Tom English reaction after the Gregory Campbell MP phonecall was simply a disgrace. The quote by itself, "why was that man allowed on the show"? doesn't convey the indignant tone that it was delivered in. On a PR/lobbyist note, I think having a DUP MP on Sportsound might actually have a net negative effect on Scottish football clubs and their Chairmen. Despite the fact that, as 26th pointed out, Campbell had played with a straight bat, talked openly and courtesly.
  23. Quick look aroud various places and I don't think the importance of this statement has hit home. For me, it´s got more of a punch to an SPFL solar plexus than the longer and louder statement that first mentioned the evidence.
  24. Club Statement THERE are key issues to be discussed and agreed within Scottish football including the circumstances and dates on which football can resume, the health and safety of all involved and the financial implications for members. It is vital that those involved in making those decisions have the confidence and support of member clubs. An independent investigation provides a route to achieving this. It has always been Rangers’ intention to produce our evidence at the appropriate time. The evidence will be provided to all member clubs well in advance of a general meeting to approve an independent investigation. https://rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/independent-investigation ------------------------------------------------- Short, to the point and a promise of sharing evidence in a timely way. You could read it and for the first time think leadership. More importantly, I think that going into the meeting, many clubs will appreciate it. Odds on getting a Yes vote have shortened.
  25. Can't see the SPFL being willing to agree to a CAS hearing. How would it work re. charges/civil/criminal court? Corruption & bribery would be criminal charges I ask, thinking about standards of proof. McKenzie and other advsors will have played the game through in his head (I wonder if they have an idea what the evidence is), considering probable routes as they consider strategy. Up until now, they have been kicking the can down the road, without any decent cards to play. The show goes on...........
