An 'expert' not an expert. ๐ Not being such an expert myself... A question came to mind. Would the relatively new cost of media access to the Ibrox press room apply to BBC Scotland ?
-
No slight on an excellent thread, but it is always best to get it first hand. Especially, if later they want to become 'an expert' on it.

An agreement in this case will involve levels of compromise on both sides. If such an agreement was ever to take place, that was inevitable. The precise details of that will be hidden behind a carefully worded statement. That is how it works. Those who claim to both never consume the broadcasters output, yet are also experts on the subject seem to want blood, rather than such compromise. The detail of which, they don't actually know. Rangers have to think of coverage, publicity and a great deal of our supporters who would like to have their club covered on the national broadcaster. It is also about encouraging upcoming generations of potential supporters. We are in the process of normalising/improving many aspects of the club. This process began in March 2015 and ironically it wasn't long after when this whole McLaughlin/BBC thing started or perhaps more accurately, became official. Prior to that, the beeb actually took the side of the club or at least the spivs in their efforts to keep Rangers fans onside but that meant it allowed itself to be used a conduit against those (on the outside) with the best interests of the club, eg. Dave King (who via Jim Traynor ended up showing McLaughlin the door). Those aspects that we are looking to build and improve, from commercial to the football operation include media and we can't continue to be a club who are constantly at war with everyone. A first step and of course, don't expect loving coverage as per any clubยดs own media channel. ps. can't help but feel that Kenny McIntyre has been instrumental in pushing this from from their side.

Given the importance of full backs these days, wouldn't surprise me if a fair chunk of change went in this direction. -
Perhaps there will be some changes.....!

The background was his 'partnership' with Toxic Jack during the dark years. CMcL was a very willing conduit who would end whatever information he had been given with a editorial summary with the regime/ Irvine's slant.

10/11 favourite Cosgrove will be the reliable first for an on air snide dig at this announcement. It needed to happen. Must be about seven years.

Pre-Season 2022/23 Megathread | [FT] Rangers 1 (Colak 24') - 2 Tottenham

Got in last night and I knew the HT score to be 0-0. By the time I had sorted my stuff out, organised and tuned into the game, I see 3-0 up in the corner of the screen !! Can't be bad, some creativity and firepower must have came to the fore. Unfortunately for me, I saw what was apparently, our worst 20 minutes (after a raft of subs). One rapid counter attack apart, we couldn't get out of our own half. Will be interesting to see the starting line-up against Spurs, as you'd imagine Gio will want to give his preferred XI minutes together, prior to the competitive KO. -

Tenent Caledonian Cup ?? 26th was probably too busy at his post in his role of supporting a Commando raid by the Marines. -
Taking a little from most of the posts thus far and you could construct a fairly comprehensive take. The main problem for me was the alliance with Dave King and what that had implied had been/was going on benind the scenes. Chris Graham and his salary from the club (DK) made a mockery of an 'independent' C1872. As for individuals and history. If X does the right thing in 2014/15, it doesn't mean he will continue to do the right thing (or vica versa). From Dave King to Chris Graham, there have been positives and not so positives. It isn't difficult, you have to judge what is happening in front of you. History is a pointer, but circumstances can change. I think Gonzo is closest with 'busted flush' When the shadow of the dark times still lingered C1872 basically took a wrong turning. The times are changing and their day is past,....... (BUT still own a lot of shares).

Challenging remit. Quite apart from the politics and that he doesn't mention the scheme to raise finance to buy Dave King's shares..... ....Are many people going to be in a position to financially commit on top of current monies going toward the club, at a time when very harsh economic conditions seem to be close ? Ps. I guess some would like to know his views on C1872 purchasing Dave King's shares.

Should be a decent test tonight against West Ham. Get a better idea of how far we have to go to get up to speed. -

Bassey was reported to be in Amsterdam for his medical a couple of days ago. I would have thought he would be announced by some point today. The quicker it is done the quicker Davis can start to get going for us. Ideally, some part of Spurs game at weekend. In 2 weeks it'll be CL and I can't help but feel we'll be going in undercooked and far from ideal shape, several injuries contributing to that. -

Did they mention (no) interest ? At this rate, the transfer thread is going to explode soon. All a bit close to CL qualifiers but if you don't qualify directly, this is what can happen. Gio is going to have to be more a magician than a manager for it all to be up to speed on time. -

It is mostly about us. We are behind them in terms of preperation and the next couple of weeks need to see us start to pick up some real momentum. The tie is worth a minimum of 7M euros. -

If you look back at our record against clubs from Belguim in European competition, it is excellent and whisper it, but I've found these trends tends to continue. Example We tend to stroll by Danish teams, 8 wins, 2 drwaws and 0 defeats...... ...but cross the border(or bridge) and Swedish clubs send us packing, 0 wins, 2 draws and 4 defeats. We give a good account of ourselves against the Germans but can't do diddly squat against the Spanish. Anyway, back to the Belguims 8 wins 1 draw 1 defeat A couple from the distant past when Compo was a mere lad 59/60 Home and away victories against Anderlecht, 7-2 on aggregate The defeat came with a 4-1 reverse against Standard Liege in a 1962 European Cup quarter Final which put us out 3-4 on aggregate. Fast forward 30 years...... 92/93 Club Brugge (First ever CL Group Stage) Legendary 2-1 comeback at home with 10 men #Nisbetstunner Frustrating draw in Belguim that we should have won. Another nearly 30 years and the other end of the book shelf is 4 wins from 4 in the Steven Gerrard European Wonder years, in 2020/21... Standard Liege revenge 3-2 at Ibrox 0-2 win #Roofestunner Then it was the Antwerp goalfest H: 5-2 A: 3-4 Aggregate: An historic 9-5 I make that 27 goals scored by Rangers in 10 matches -

Will Audrey be at the game ? I'd have to make the effort. Apparently she was desperate to attend our CL game in Bruges back in March 93, but palmed it in the January.
