  1. I get the CL prices (see my first post on this thread) but the general thing of how supporters are treated has to be looked at holistically. In recent times, it appears that there is a lot of take and little in the way of rewarding something that is constantly praised. Mygers is a case in point. Effectively Taxing loyalty. I don't think the support expect hand-outs, even a pre season friendly free for ST holders would be gratefully received. Now that we have our finances in better order, the club may consider this or similar for 2023.
  2. Higher wages didn't work. I said a change to full time might help but 'better' training for new batches is obviously needed. Scottish football is generally a low quality environment and the current batch of officials are no different. VAR in Scotland, will I think suffer a similar relative fate. No, I am not a referee.
  3. Those who do know the facts, obviously do make the decisions. But we know only too well that they don't always get them right.
  4. I get the logic behind what you say but it comes down to business/clients....or.....sport/supporters ? Or perhaps, somewhere between the two with the occasional rewarding of loyalty.....rather than effectively taxing it (mygers).
  5. I more or less agree with you that you generally win some and you lose some. Regards officialdom, Football fans often tend to see what they want to see and ignore the rest. But the bit about simply paying more to get better quality didn't work out that way when tried. Full time refs may improve performance but I wouldn't bet on it. You need to train up the next batch to a better standard.
  6. They get well paid. No difference in quality ensued when what was a big match fee increase came about (a few years ago).
  7. Certainly was a player. The next big thing IIRC. What went wrong with his career ? Edit Couldn't get a game at Chelsea and spent last season on the bench. Did play 16 minutes in a winning Chelsea team against Malmö (CL) last season, replacing Ziyech (who scored the winner and who Ajax want to buy this week) If he was still rated, there will be interest from lower/mid table teams in EPL and they'll pay him more than we can/should.
  8. Aye, but Liverpool are the top side. Odds to win group (b365) Liverpool, 2/7 Napoli & Ajax, 13/2 Rangers, 14/1
  9. Looking at last season, Ajax won all six of their group games !!! If my arithmetic is correct, we have won 12 in total. Or 1 from every 5 games played in CL group stages, (10). The 12 are.... 8 home wins Brugge, Grasshoppers, PSV, Sturm Graz, Porto, Stuttgart (x2), Bursapor. 4 away wins CSKA Moscow*, Monaco, PSV, Lyon. *Neutral venue Takeaway from that is it shows how difficult it is to beat the top side in a CL group. Only Monaco (from win list) being arguably considered the best side in the group. ie. Don't put your mortgage on us to beat Liverpool. Gio as a manager with Feyenoord won 1 from 6 group games. At home in the last fixture against Napoli.
  10. The pros and cons that the Champion League brings. The club will have increased costs that they need to cover and being 31st of 32 teams in the 10 year co-efficient limits the guaranted revenue. Win a home game and it will double the evening's takings.
  11. As far as next Saturday is concerned, forget the referee, it is about us standing up to the challenge and putting in a performance.
  12. Our central defence (including Sands) should be judged after the upcoming games (Ajax, Celtic, Aberdeen, Napoli and Liverpool. Colak's finish for our second goal was excellent and exactly what we need from a centre forward. Mention in dispatches for Scott Wright's part in the move.
  13. I think the level of media scrutiny comes into it and on Saturday, Don Robertson didn't want to get his red card out, especially so early in the game and against us. Turns out the decision was so bad that the media scrutiny is worse for Robertson than if he had sent Sands off. He was fine with the early yellow (no complaints, I would have expected it at the other end) but ignored the second. Then it was about evening up the bad decisions within the 90 minutes. We should have had a penalty and they could have finished with 10. I note Robertson hasn't been mentioned as much as Collum, last week. That is what a reputation does I guess.
  14. Some 11 days coming up from the 3/9 to the 13/9. Celtic (A) Ajax (A) Aberdeen (A) Napoli (H) A real quality signing would be welcome before it starts. Completely different starting XI for Queen of the South.
  15. He changed it, it worked. I'd imagine that will be the new template for this type of fixture. Textbook Two up at HT Three up after an hour Get the changes made One slight criticism is that I thought we could have had 5 subs on the pitch by 70-75 minutes.
  16. We put our shooting boots on today !! Liverpool have as well, they have only got the eight goals today !!! edit.....9 (NINE)
  17. Line up suggested this would happen. Hopefully GVB sticks with approach for similar type games.
  18. Ref. evening up bad decisions. Sands should have been sent off early and RC manager was complaining about it for ages. I'd give Leon King 30-45 minutes.
  19. Hopefully a more attacking line-up on paper means we create more chances in the first half. Got a feeling it will. Put the shooting boots on lads, don't be shy.
  20. I've learnt to pay little attention to timescales given for vague knee injuries. I'll be happy when I see the young man back kicking a football.
  21. Wrt European football, it is @Fat Eck
  22. Hearts may pick up some co-efficient points against the Latvians. ECL Gp.A Istanbul Basaksehir Fiorentina Hearts RFS Riga
