  1. It comes from years/decades of short term transfer window therapy that has a positive effect on mood but often doesn't last very long. As far as "rebuilding the club". This won't end, it will be constantly trying to keep up which given Increasingly disproportionate revenue streams is a thankless task. Youth is where you have to get it right. See Ajax.
  2. More money would be great but firstly it should be and has to be about spending the money you do have in an optimal way. No football club won't make mistakes or have an injury list/players unavailable, but again you can do things to make it less probable. Examples Medical/football mgmt. You shouldn't keep Morelos on the park when it is so obvious he is playing through a muscle injury and not able to do much. Result: badly torn thigh muscle, out of cup finals/pre-season. Recruitment Trying to squeeze quality out of relatively small outlays. You shouldn't accumulate so many injury prone players. Especially when more than one player is in one area of team. I mentioned this in February, it isn't hindsight. Result: Helander, Souttar and Roofe missing for start of season Combine Morelos and Roofe. Just as well they got it right with Colak. No centre forward for Cup Finals/business end of season. Etc., Etc. We can rightly say 'but we got to a European final and the CLGS'. However, I think the biggest negative effect is on our title prospects.
  3. Pending seeing the accounts, I tend to agree with most of that. However, the issues are 1. How we've spent the money invested this summer 2. How we have recruited over a number of windows. These issues throw up questions/answers that suggest it no surprise we have reached a point where we start a season with so many players unavailable and the money invested this summer isn't bringing the immediate benefit required. IMO, it is more the Football Operation that has questions to answer, rather than the board.
  4. Left footer Is that a wind up ? 😄
  5. You can tell when deadline day is dead. Every James Hunt on here has gone to the Lounge to sort out the Ukraine/Russia conflict 😑
  6. I generally float between realism and pessimism. Lower expectations makes the good, feel better. I genuinely didn't see us being able to keep a clean sheet in Eindhoven. You'll be reassured to know I think similar for this weekend.
  7. Of course, but you know how Rangers (and other) message boards tend to react #bipolar I'd settle for DLWW for next 4. Keep us in the hunt.
  8. A positive result on Saturday and all will be wonderful again. Get beat and social media might be for avoiding until just before Ajax .......repeat.
  9. I think some of the issues as they stand have developed over a number of transfer windows. Too much reliance on what has become on older guard (eg. Ryan Jack) and too many players brought in who are injury prone. If we have decided to let the likes of McCann and Lowry to get real game time, then I am on board with that. However, if we intend to have the same players go to the well all the time, then it will end badly. If we depend on Morelos and Roofe, it might be ok for a couple of weeks but it won't last. The lad Ure isn't ready yet. Haven't seen enough of Lovelace yet.
  10. I'd keep the money back for Tillman but not for Sands. Tillman is a prospect you don't have to think twice about. We can do better than Sands for the fee involved. We'll see how he stands up to the next couple of weeks. Besides, spend the money on a bit of quality now and it might end up helping you earn more money from taking points in the CL.
  11. We've spent money but generally, haven't got immediate bang for our buck. However, we are very light middle to front. A couple more injuries and we are badly struggling.
  12. Manager has been backed but we've spent money on players who for various reasons aren't going to contribute much in the short term. Exception being Colak.
  13. As it stands, I think we'll struggle to win the league. If we brought even a couple of quality players in, it might make a big difference if they were to do well. We would need to start putting away provincial sides consistently (double figure or close to, winning runs) or/and start winning the OF matches. Gio hasn't lost to a provincial side since he took over but we have drawn too many. He has still to win an OF league match, no wins in 3. Saturday provides an opportunity to retake the momentum. Far from easy but one way or the other, this group of players (and mgmt) will show what they have got to offer.
  14. If Gio is prepared to trust him and play him then I agree, it would be the way to go. We need to start playing more of our own youngsters for various reasons. Including, the new financial regulation around 'Fair Play'.
  15. The following is copied from elsewhere but is something that needs to be taken into account..... __------------- Who comes out the Euro squad to accommodate new signings, given we can only name a squad of 23.. Souttar, Wright, Jack and Arfield are the association trained players so they need to be in. Mcgregor and McCrorie the club trained players. Other 17.. McLaughlin Tav Yilmaz Goldson Davies Borna Lundstram Davis Kent Kamara Sands Sakala Colak Lawrence Matondo Morelos Tillman From FF 'bkerr 72' _--------++--++-------- Lawrence might be one depending on how bad his injury is. Helander, Roofe aren't on the list
  16. Don't know if this rumour Is true but it would be what a player trading model brings. If we are going to miss out on Morelos and Kent (large incoming fees) then you got to try and move others on before they run down their contract. He isn't gone yet. If we were thinking about a big incoming transfer with Kamara then why play him for nearly a full 90 minutes against Queen of the South?
  17. We are more important to them than life itself.
  18. 😁 One outgoing rumour from Colin Duncan in The Sun, is Kamara to Nice for 10M. No quotes, just a line about his agent trying to thrash out a deal !
  19. Rangers v Dundee Kilmarnock v Dundee Utd Aberdeen v Partick Thistle Motherwell v Celtic That´ll dae nicely !! * Quarter-finals Midweek of October 18-20, 2022 Possible Old and New Firm in the semi-finals Last time we played Dundee in the League Cup, John Fleck scored in a 1-3 away win. We went onto lift the Cup beating Celtic in the final (2011). Haven't won it since. Time to get back to winning this trophy.
  20. Draw for the next round (quarters) coming up soon The hat contains.... Rangers Partick Thistle Dundee Aberdeen Dundee Utd Kilmarnock Celtic Motherwell Two clubs from Dundee three from Glasgow and none fae Auld Reekie. Thistle at home would be about right
  21. Whilst on the subject, Celtic are fielding a mostly second string line up tonight.
  22. Let's promote women, they couldn't be any worse.
