Far more scrutiny on here and amongst interested agencies. Edit Just realized this isn't The Lounge. Probably better off there for this conversation. -

He certainly isn't very good in hiding stuff when on radio (2020) or on twitter. As far as the SPFL executive are concerned, he is a bit of a loose canon. -
Thanks again ! Yes, I agree with what you infer re. DK/Laxey. Less entities will want to/can deal with DK today, than 7 years past. The fact that C1872 were effectively captured says a lot about both parties.

Gersnet Article Communications and Contradictions
buster. replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Alignment is a word often used by various members of the board. It is vital that the various strands of running the football club come together in a strategic plan. Generally, it has gone ok but I think they have made a mistake with communication. Alignment regards communication took the form of positive PR towards customer base. It was about giving them what you thought they wanted to hear, often within a context of the rivalry with Celtic. This was supposed to keep us happy and encourage the spending of money on the club. This type of communication was well received by the vast majority of the support. Until results and performance trends started the general 'inquest'. This has brought up a number of issues around mgmt, squad, finances, etc....but also includes communication. Three things 1. The club need to treat fans as generally intelligent enough to take on board realism, whatever that looks like. Consistently, not occasional heavy doses that seem contrary to what has gone before. The club should realise that loyalty isn't a problem. 2. The fans need to be able to deal with consistent realism. It will often be difficult. 3. Say goodbye to David Graham and get someone in who knows what he/she is doing. -
You learn something every day. I don't think I can blame my memory, just a detail that passed me by. Who bought them from LP ? Can't be GL, DP &/or GT then, can it, in part...? From whom did King source his shares?
-
Thanks ! Yes, that is what it looked like and what he said himself. King did some important things prior to and during his second time on board. Buying the Laxey Partners shares was a game changer. His strategy of constructive losses and the Steven Gerrard appointment also come to mind. However, taking on Mr.Mash and the SD empire got away from him and he (and Rangers) appear to have got burnt. Now this all to obvious 'collusion' with (elements of?) C1872 has went the same way. Just WTF did C1872 think when deciding to go down this path ? That Rangers supporters are buttoned up the back ??

Between that and the reported Ashley pay off, it will reduce profits on merchandise by a fair wack. Very poor but DK can take some/much* of the blame for this, not only the current board. * Anyone who knows more is welcome to correct me @forlanssister

My reply to BEARGER was a general comment rather than directly connected to Lee Wallace. Although, I did doubt (without evidence) that his every touch of the game was booed by the Tartan Army. The reason I made comment was to do with inconsistencies on the PQ thread. I used the word "sad" because I have over time very much appreciated and enjoyed your sterling efforts on said thread and find it sad that inconsistencies have crept in. I have in the past PM'd you or simply pointed some out on the thread. Some, not in the least important but in the interest of accuracy on such a thread, better to correct it. Others, such as last week on the BBC reporting of the Dundee United game, details that make your take on events easy to undermine, despite being generally accurate. Despite all that, you are still the best poster on Gersnet. That isn't blowing smoke up .....If not a fact, it is my opinion and I doubt I am alone in that. _------------- Whilst on, all the best to Lee Wallace. Only criticism of him whilst at Rangers, is that he wasn't nasty enough at times.

Sad, but accuracy is so out of fashion.

SPFL move to cut Rangers out of vote on SKY TV deal

If I understand this correctly, this increase in TV money for the WHOLE top tier for a WHOLE SEASON, is worth about the same as ONE CLUB would make for winning 2 CL group games. That would be on top of the participation fee, 10yr co-eff share and TV money. It is gettng ever more difficult to compete financially. -
I know what you think but I don't think that you grasp the wider picture. Gerrard was an exceptional managerial appointment in that his reputation and subsequent force of personality helped turn the club around on various levels. An exceptional managerial appointment just now or in the near future faces a different situation to SG in 2018 but essentially, needs to have authority and real leadership skills, break up much of this squad, get players in who will suit a more attacking remit (domestic bread and butter), bring average squad age down, incorporate what has to become a well trodden pathway for academy. No need to tell me you disagree, I know.

We are all sick of "doom and gloom" but that is the current trajectory. I guess being a Happy Clapper will at least make you feel better about Rangers, in the short term.
-
I was only adding my opinion on the apparent lack of effort/application/fitness. Side note Losing Calvin Bassey has taken a lot of energy and kilometres out of the team. What should have been a season of relatively major transition is going to be difficult and the upheaval will drift into 23/24. The major downside being the other side of the city is best placed to take advantage of direct CL entry. This would then have the obvious knock on effects. At a time of FFP introduction, this could set us up for another long period of second place finishes. The possible way around this would be to make an exceptional managerial appointment.
-
I don't think it is fitness that is the problem, it is about mentality and attitude. Best recent example in Scottish football was Celtic under Lennon when they imploded a couple of years ago. Same club, Delia had the same problem with various players not buying into his methods.
-
Can we afford not to ? A significant number of players should be finishing up at Ibrox in the summer. That would be the obvious time to bring someone in, if they didn't fancy coming in immediately #caretaker A counter argument might say, let Gio bring in his own players. Personally, I don't think he has the personality to command respect in a dressing room.

Yes,......"Stuff" they are hiding. Re.C1872 It is actually worse than simply not having credibility, IMO.
-
Romantic reason: Because we are all in it together. Practical necessity: Because we are paying customers. Regards the sharing of information. Obviously there are limits when it comes to the finances. Yogi Bear doesn't seem to capture this last part, nor does he seem able to interpret 'the bleeding obvious'.
-
Roles Reversal !!? It used to be that Sir Duped had stuff to hide and the support, although sometimes cack handed, were generally correct. However, failed to communicate and convince enough people. From afar, it seems to me, that it is now C1872 that have stuff to hide and the club are generally correct (re. Finances) but being cack handed in their efforts to communicate. All in all, a bit of a mess. Especially when you add the on field stuff.

There was another, more recent but I can't be bothered looking it up. #takeittothebank I guess "for a while" can be different for different people. #LoL

Re. Tillman and Sands I think the jury have a lot of evidence to watch before they even consider going out to consider the verdict. As it stands (IMO) they haven't done nearly enough but still have some time on their side.
-
From the little I have seen, the board or whoever on their behalf, sometimes note what is going on or being questioned within the support (often via social media). They offer back soundbites, tweets, statements, occasional actions, etc to appease, sweeten up, keep happy, satisfy or similar, that line of supporter feedback. In some cases it is short term firefighting that actually makes things worse. For example, pushing the positive vibes about our finances, deals, etc and not a balanced picture. So the support expect more money spent in a transfer window and then further down the line, the board are on the back foot. Partly, their own fault. As for supporter groups to communicate/act as bridge....with the board. Forget it, it isn't happening any time soon. Twenty years of one disaster after another, for all kinds of reasons. We have what we generally deserve. The current board have enough real supporters on it. Re. Communication. They just have to improve in obvious areas. Not forgetting, the planting of money trees at Auchenhowie and winning Leagues.

Your argument doesn't convince me.

The bulk of the starting XI have been around for years and there is a definite and clear distinct patterns regard apparent motivation/performance/results in both Domestic and European football (the one exception being domestic 55 season). Lets take since the start of last season. We had won the league a few months before but something wasn't quite right with the team/manager and this seemed to come accross on the field of play and we started 21/22 relatively poorly. We were undefeated Champions and had won 32 from 38 games and drawn 6, two of which came after we clinched the league. We didn't build on that win, we reverted to type (another manager and/or squad debate?). Under SG in the League 21/22 WLWWWDWWDWWDWW We couldn't put together a long winning run that helps you win a title. Gio comes in. The players seem to respond and it goes well at the beginning (League) WWWWWWW ......then it is the winter break For whatever reason, the squad revert to type as we return from winter break and the positive Gio effect wears off.......DWDLWWDDWWWLWWDWWW (League) The players do seem to motivate (themselves?) for Europe and we make the final. We come into 22/23 (League) and we resume where we had left off in May. WWWDWLW My conclusion is that this group of players have it in them to get to a decent level but have great difficulty in putting together the consistentcy needed to win league titles. When the domestic going gets tough, they are mentally weak and not sufficiently motivated enough to give it their best shot. In Europe, it has generally been a different tale. I think they basically get themselves up for it. I also see a manager who isn't going to be able to change things (league consistency). He doesn't appear to have the authority and respect of all the players. Always easier to get rid of the manager than change a squad but both are overdue. Obviously, finances make it impossible.
