Match Thread [FT] Hearts 0 - 4 Rangers (Colak 6, 30; Morelos 76; Kent 90+1)

Tillman hasn't got the skillset of Morelos. Threading passes through a low block isn't easy. Alfredo could cause a defence all kinds of grief and Colak is the type to take advantage. The issue is getting Morelos to fire and have him play a role that may see another get the goals. -

Perfect for playing against a low block IMO As you describe, Morelos inverted roamer and you get the width from Tav -

Colak is the best finisher we've had in years. When firing, Morelos is our best attack minded player. We have to find a way, in certain types of game, to get them both to start. I don't see it as being round into square, their style of play can compliment the other. As well as giving us more of a goal threat. It is an option that we have to explore. Understandable that we haven't yet seen it, given that for various reasons, Morelos hasn't been at it. -

You are on here with a fair few who have reached a time when their occasional and possibly realistic ambition is to see Grandma naked. -

Why not just enjoy the victory and not bother us with your analysis and negative vibes on freedom of speech and the reactions of Rangers supporters #LoL Seriously, if it bothers you then don't come on footballing messageboards. -

So is that Kent's second goal against Hearts today? Alfredo already has Kilmarnock on his mantlepiece. -

The option of long balls and getting behind defences is seldom available when games are tight against diddy clubs. If teams like Aberdeen and Hearts come at us, it makes attacking with menace so much easier ....but obviously, you need a solid defence to minimise such opposition's threat. Think back to the game at Tynecastle last December. They start brightly but 2 counter attacks and we are 0-2 up after 14 minutes. The second, a long ball for Aribo to finish wonderfully. Aberdeen may be more difficult than Hearts because they have more of a goal threat and/or Goodwin may be wise enough to change tactics and not leave so much space. It will be back to playing against the low block against St.Mirren next week. That after our own version of a low block at Liverpool. Wee aside Very few draws in the top tier this season. I count six in 48 matches. -

Next week we will be playing the third placed team again, St.Mirren at Ibrox. They are on a good run and the game comes after our visit to Liverpool. They have conceded 8 in the league, same as us. 4 clean sheets, same as us. Low Block Coming Up. Eye on the ball and keep the domestic run going (2 and counting.....) -

Excellent result and a mostly energetic performance from a team that were up for it. Getting on top of Hearts at Tynecastle early is important and boy can Colak finish. Best finisher at the club since (excepting the obvious Defoe) Jelevic ?? I thought Hearts played in a style that suited us down to the ground and they missed their first choice central defenders. Next week at home to St.Mirren will show us better where we are in compared to before the break. ie. direct comparison playing against a low block. Regardless today has set the right tone. The BIG test is winning 7, 8, 9 league games in a row. -

Gio says he has no idea on a timescale for Helander. No timescale suggests we might not see him again in a blue shirt. "Ben (Davies) is back in the squad" He has been sat on the bench for the last three games, which dates back to early September. The question should have been, why hasn't he came off the bench. I'm actually fine with playing Leon King. Roofe is back training bit/big* parts of the traning session with us and that we need to keep assessing him. Still vague and a long time since he played (nearly 6 months/not counting 2 minutes of EL Final). *not sure which he said Ridvan has struggled to adapt on various levels but that situation would seem to be improving. TBF Barisic has played well and on the face of it, doesn't deserve to be dropped. Lawrence still out Why was he kept on the park after he got injured, against an already beaten Ross County ? Why after the more offensive tactic worked against Ross County did he go back to a double pivot against Dundee United ? I hope Gio looks and sounds more convincing in the dressing room. I have to force myself to watch his pressers. -

I think that is what the Hearts manager will be telling his players. Communication has been a talking point recently. I wonder how it is between our manager and the players. -

I think it is at least as much to do with players wanting to do well in front of a much bigger audience (that includes scouts of clubs with more money). -

It simply lays bare what is a stark financial reality. Agree regards domestic priority although not sure the players see it the same way, it has tended to be the reverse. Football is all about the pursuit of revenue these days. Whoring it in the CL group stage is the dream. -

Did you need to bring your constant downer on all things Scotland into a HvR thread ? There not being a Gersnet thread on any of the Scotland NL games said enough. It is like a Plastic Paddy in reverse........Why don't you Leave Home ? 😄 Interesting game on Saturday and very difficult to get a read on how it will go. Subject to starting line up, my gut says we'll get a bounce of sorts and we'll do enough to go top by FT. Hearts are putting together a reasonable squad that in part are already settled in (opposed to Hibs and Aberdeen/mostly new players), but have been badly affected by injury. Life with European group stage football and International call ups is something they are having to get used to and that away win in Latvia will have given them a surge of confidence on th back of a slump. Performance wise, it can only get better because if it doesn't, we'll probably be in third place come FT. Pressure is on GvB but will the players decide to perform prior to Liverpool ? Looking at the next four games.... Hearts (A) Liverpool (A) St.Mirren (H) Liverpool (H) Not unlike the negative run we had recently Gio can't afford a repeat. The Liverpool games aren't likely to yield much but we need to perform. It is the game in Edinburgh that will set the tone. -

If I had to put a number on my fag packet, for our average loss in the last couple of decades.....it would be in the region of 10M sterling. My fag packet would need an annual average of £10M net gain from principally, the player trading model (PTM) for the club to become sustainable. Edmiston House brings to mind Rangers Pools. We could do with finding something as profitable again to take the pressure off the PTM. -
