Bit like watching us play Albion Rovers in the Cup. Reminds me of the game in Barcelona in 2007.

Give it your best shot lads, can't ask for much more. Very much hope Leon King shows up well. Difficult but great opportunity to shine in front of a huge audience.

GPL Predictions Bluebear54's GPL 2022/23: Liverpool v Rangers
buster. replied to Rousseau's topic in Rangers Chat
Liverpool 3 Rangers 0 Tav -
Not Diaz (Porto) nor Nuñez ,(Benfica) were in a side who could beat Rangers. Three draws and a win at home v Porto. Both scored against us.
-
Back five most of the time looking for long ball counter attacks. Difficulty will be to play through their press. Hence I hope we have worked on pinging the long ball to a blue shirt
-
How many Leon King long ball assists coming up for Kent ?
-
We have 3 centre halves plus Lundstram to drop back into a six 🤫
-
No thanks ! For me, friendlies just don't count.
-
Bayern were 3-0 up after 21 minutes over Wee Plzen. Money often talks (loudly) at this level.
-
Interesting, thanks! Should have said European competition. As you say, fairly similar...for every win, we'll lose two.
-
Liverpool lost six home matches in a row in early 2021 but since the 7th of March 2021 no English team have beaten them at Anfield in a competitive match. They have lost one competitive home match in those nearly 19 months. They lost 0-1 to Inter Milan (CL KO) in March of this year, but this came after Liverpool had won the first leg in Italy, 0-2. Our last away win in the CL group stage was that memorable 0-3 victory in Lyon. A win tonight would probably be our best ever against the odds European result.

You have started a bit early 😃
-
No expectation of a positive result can probably dilute enthusiasm.
-
Maybe I bored everyone to sleep with the stats but there seems to be remarkably little interest on here for a CL game at Liverpool. First ever competitive game against what is the third most successful side in European football.
-
The worst thing about it is you could see it coming. What the actual F were we thinking about in putting together a squad for this season? If it was about saving money, it is going to end up having the opposite effect.

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/62338836 Just found this fancy layout !! Sands suspended Not many options in the middle if Jack is out. If he is declared fit, I'll put a fiver on him being taken off by or at HT. Kamara in from the cold or McCann Is Davies ready for a full game ? If Leon King were to come in and have a good game, he'd instantly be worth more than we paid for Davies. Arfield won't last a full game at the pace this game will need. Will Steve Davis ? Even with the players that are available tonight, too many who have to be constantly managed in terms of minutes.

Second Go Auchenhowie as a whole is starting to raise concerns. I might well be wrong, but I sense a lack of leadership and collective purpose throughout. Leadership that Gerrard had in spades until he seemed to mentally drift in summer 2021.

Unless the scouting is of injury prone players 😄 Seriously, wasn't there a turnaround in the summer of some of the staff, including the doctor that SG brought up. I recall you mention Morelos playing when injured up until he proper fcuked his thigh muscle against Dundee. Would that not be down, at least partly to GvB and wouldn't a different doctor involved ? This season seems to have been a bit chaotic with players unavailable for various reasons. - Injured - Personal circumstances - Both of the above - speculation - Detention for playing the cnut Has smelt to me like a problematic dressing room. 'Non allignment'

Might be a flexible back 4/5 with Lundstram stepping back to join Goldson and Davies if/when required. I'd like to lay Kamara but it would seem as though he isn't the flavour of the month. Arfield will have to work very hard and cover a lot of ground, as will the whole team really. McGregor Tav.......Goldson..........Davies..........Barisic Lundstram Davis.....................Kamara Arfield ......................................Kent Morelos edit. Sands out due to suspension, so Kamara in from cold ? Presuming Jack won't be ready ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I wonder if Klopp has been on the blower to SG, given that he put together most of the team. edit Heard Klopp in presser say he hasn't.

But it would now seem as though he'll be back well before Lawrence. ----------------------
-
Lawrence who was "close" is now out until some unknown date after the World Cup. Gio talked of a new injury. Give Lowry a go....

Last Scottish team to go down to Liverpool were Hearts (2012) and they were a goal up and close to causing an upset before Luis Suarez got the equaliser. David Templeton was the other goalscorer in the 1-1 draw. In fact, Liverpool have failed to beat Scottish sides at home in their last three attempts. The other two were in 1997 and 2003, enough detail. Prior to that, they had won the other four at home to Scottish sides with an aggregate score of 11-1 (Hibs managing the only Scottish goal). Fergie's Aberdeen were the only Scottish team who took a bit of a scudding, 4 zip in 1980. In competitive games against Scottish sides,.... Liverpool have Won 7, Drawn 4 and Lost 3 Goals For 18, Against 9 Against English opponents,.... We have Won 3, Drawn 4 and Lost 7 Goals For 11, Against 20 When you consider that two of those three victories came against Leeds in 92 and the other was in 1961, it is a shocking record. In the CL group stage, we have played Manchester United twice and kept the wrong kind of zero in all 4 matches. So, all this talk that the Battle of Britain effect levels the playing field,......at club level, the results don't really back it up. That solitary competitive victory on English soil against Leeds can be increased to three*, if counting two play off victories at Highbury against Sparta Rotterdam (1960) and Red Star Belgrade (1964). *Not including any FA Cup away wins in 19th century. Sorry to bore you with all that but @craig really loves these stats and who am I to dissapoint him. ------------------ Now over to the Hipsters to tell us about the tactical approach for Tuesday. Personally, I'm starting behind the sofa with an occasional peek over the top.

Best domestic away result, without doubt. Obviously Dortmund and PSV tower above it. The important aspect of the performance was that all players looked interested. Few were brilliant, but the collective showed energy and willing. We didn't need to be brilliant as Hearts played in a way that pretty much laid it on a plate and then just to make sure, self combusted with a red card.

Has to be the big Croat. His determination and precision got the ball out to Kent He swiftly got into the box and between the posts to await the cross He finished with precision and aplomb The tone was set and Hertz wilted
