Next European package won't be so easy to shift. -

I had a degree of optimism coming into tonights game, until I saw the team. We had an extremely weak spine. Central defence looked vulnerable with no real backup. Central midfield had an age profile more akin to a Legends Team and it showed. -

One thing is ability, but we have also lost our fitness levels of past campaigns. -

That must be a record number of correct FGS Colak is wonderfully predictable -
Diddy teams who have a go are setting themselves up for a fall. It used to be that the wee teams had the quality to hurt us but not now (Boyle/Hibs & McKay/Hearts, perhaps) They need us to be off it or/and hope the low block produces something. That said, Livingston have done better than most against the OF, more especially against them. Fingers crossed for Martindale and his team today. 19/10/22 LEC Rangers 1 - 0 Dundee View events 22/10/22 PRE Rangers 1 - 1 Livingston View events 26/10/22 UCL Napoli 3 - 0 Rangers View events 29/10/22 PRE Rangers 4 - 1 Aberdeen 01/11/22 UCL Rangers 20 : 00 Ajax 06/11/22 PRE St. Johnstone 12 : 00 Rangers 09/11/22 PRE Rangers 19 : 45 Hearts 12/11/22 PRE St. Mirren 12 : 30 Rangers

The challenge is to do what they did yesterday on a consistent basis for the rest of the season. One swallow doesn't make a summer

Can't catch a break (Yilmaz injury) but at least we know that the lad is a player. Davies is another decent player but there seems to be a fragility there. With space and team mates moving into it, Tillman can certainly play. All in all, we were hungry and determined and we got what we deserved. Fourth different third placed team we have played and we have put four goals past them all. Wee teams with delusions of grandeur.
-
Why the welcome difference yesterday ? - Gio - Players - Aberdeen tactics and gobshite manager - combination of above I think Gio got the team right and for a change, the players were up for it and showed character after going behind. As with Hearts at Tynecastle, having more space to play into allowed our creative players do stuff. Breathing space for Gio All out attack against Ajax, given we are struggling for defenders 😃

If you and Gonzo can't understand what I'm saying, it won't make sense. - The club need stability - The squad needs a rebuild - We've mismanaged a squad with too many old and chronically injured players - Squad needs freshness and energy - We really need talented youth coming through, not only for energy but also because it is good for player trading model (margins). Without a functioning PTModel, I don't think we could be sustainable as a business. - Our financial situation is challenging and I don't think we could mutually agree a termination with Gio&Co and overhaul the squad with the level of quality we woud like in one year. - Historically (recent decades*) we generally run at a substantial loss. - Looking ahead, I don't see us being able to turn that around without the support lowering constant expectation levels. I doubt the support will readily lower expectation levels and that will put pressure on board. This has historically* meant the board spend their way out of problem. This board has repeatedly said that the aim is to be a sustainable business. What do they do next ? As far as we are concerned, the accounts are out soon and we will be able to use actual numbers (as at 30/6/22) to see where we are.

Rangers 2 Aberdeen 1 Colak -
The club needs stability. Try harder

Aye, but a turgid 1-0 win will ultimately go down better than a thrilling 3-3 draw. Stating the bleeding obvious but Gio will be prioritising the points. Although, you wonder if he'll reach the fcuk it, just go for it stage one day. I remember in Walter's second spell after a November defeat at Aberdeen. Big meeting with players and they decided to be more adventurous in their play. Everyone bought into it and the following six league games in December, we won scoring 3,3,3,6,4,7 in the respective games. That was a team who had thrilled us in September with three league games on the bounce ending 0-0.
-
Yes, but perhaps for stability for the club, that is the wrong way round (everything at once is extremely difficult). Obviously the fans wouldn't agree. Over the years, what we have tended to do is throw money at on-field problems. This often works (to varying degrees) but it is also often only short term fixes that don't sort out fault lines (eg. player trading model). They invariably have brought financial problems not much further down the line. Rinse and repeat. What the current setup is trying to do is solve the above. But we have now hit a large bump in the road and the steering appears fcuked.
-
There are various levels of reality to wake up to. - Football on the park - State of squad (and est. sell-on value - Football Operation as a whole - Financial state of play - Take all of the above for holistic take on where we go from here Better to go back to sleep?

Some clubs have made it work for them. For example, AC Milan (90's) had a very different approach to taking care of the veterans (mind and body) as well as the fact that the players were top level. What a club has to do if they decide to go down the high average age and several chronically injured players is to at least have the very best sports science/medical approach that will get more games/minutes out of those players, at as high a performance level as possible. We seem to have gone down the route of a significant percentage of older/chronically injured players and at the same time, our medical / sports science don't seem to be at the top of their game. Not a good combination.
-
I'd be speculating on our own young potential and spending money on those with slightly more experience. We have to get realistic as to how far we can go with the budget we have.
-
Squad had too many old and chronically injured that needed managed and liable to miss a lot of minutes. Squad mgmt was awful. It was basically set-up to fail. Not hindsight. I said it before the season began. It was obvious.

Tillman could become special. Sands may become decent. The conditionals are outside bets and we don't have enough money to speculate.
