  1. Have you been on the whacky backy? You posted about the interest rate and you turned out to be inaccurate. I simply showed you why. If what you were attempting was 'to defend the board'. then I would humbly suggest you did so with more care and attention to accuracy. It wasn't difficult, even for a layman like myself.
  2. Bookies are hedging their bets as well. Compo, regarding the 0-4, they are Fenerbache, not Real Madrid.
  3. A touching gesture!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 We are all the same. It too often needs humanity and courage to acknowledge it.
  4. I reckon it will be Bilbao and then Lyon in the semis. Would prefer Roma as we'll be in Bilbao for the final.
  5. "Turning-up" has been fundamental to our European success. I don't disagree that the way these games are played tend to suit us but both factors are very much involved.
  6. It has become predictable that we turn up on Thursday nights. There is a certain predictability about our inconsistency. For me, what throws an added difficulty into predicting tonight, is Fenerbache and what version of them, turns up. For them to go through, I think they have to get to Lyon levels from last Autumn. I doubt they will be capable of that. I don't think they have the pace. Time will tell
  7. Three years ago, Dortmund scored twice before HT with Bellingham &Co running all over us. Had the first half lasted another 10 minutes, they could have been out of sight. I thought we were done. Dortmund had eventually turned up and it was a matter of time. But we didn't buckle, Gio tweaked a couple of things and we came back stronger.
  8. It was a reply to your point. You are who decided to focus on the interest rate in your reply to a more general post of mine. Turns out that you were inaccurate. I merely pointed this out with some workings.
  9. A lot riding on this game. Kudos/Prestige / feel good Becoming normal for Rangers to still be in European tournament football in March. Must encourage potential buyers. Bragging rights We are behind our main rivals in most of today's metrics, both on and off field but whatever their bluster, they will be sick that we are still in Europe and they aren't. Especially, if we make the quarter finals. Financial The 2.5M for reaching the quarter finals added to another bumper Ibrox attendance should help enormously with any current cashflow issues. Co-efficient Scotland's numbers are not far from a place where the CL League phase becomes a lot more difficult to get to (tricky enough as it is). Co-eff points can be working materials for alchemy. Our individual co-efficient is in a very good place, joint 26th place of all European clubs. We could jump 2 or 3 places tonight. --------- Don't get Fenerbache. They came into the tie, 18 games unbeaten and looked poor last week. Their manager with all the hassle he has going on in Turkey is giving me the impression that he maybe working his ticket. Quietly confident that we will be in the quarter finals. _----------_ Funny old game Could Barry Ferguson become the first ever manager to best Mourinho in two consecutive games ? Ps. No idea if it has happened before.
  10. To start with... In March 2021 (date of article that you linked), the UK base rate was 0.1%. Yesterday, it was 4.5%. Maybe I misinterpreted your first post on this. But the 6% figure you seemed to suggest was relevant today, simply isn't. John Bennett was talking about the rate he was charging the club and that it was so much better than any other sources. ".....it could be banks such as MacQuarie Bank and they are active in the football space. They can't touch our terms,"...JB Bennett said that MacQuarie Bank couldn't compete with his 6% (when base rate was 0.1%). The Bennett loan to the club wasn't about profiteering. MacQuarie bank is about making money. So given that the base rate has increased by 4.4% and MacQuarie will be adding it's margin. The number is way beyond your 6%.
  11. Thanks Bluedell ! I think he is referring to the 6% that his loan to Rangers was charged at. https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/SC425159/filing-history
  12. Thanks but as Bluedell says. That interview is from 2021..... ...and besides, it seems to me that he is talking about the rate that his to loan to Rangers was charged at.
  13. John Bennett has talked about this facility? Do you have a link, please? I just had a brief scan of document and couldn't see an interest rate. I did read about the payments of transfer receivables. @Bluedell Do you know if there is an interest rate attached to this facility or is it an agreed payment (transfer receivables) in return for a cash loan?
  14. I saw the bank involved and assumed a relatively high interest rate compared to directors loans. Is the 6% number from the official document?
  15. Looks like an article forced out there to maintain a positive vibe amongst the fans after the need to revert to a high interest bank facility. Regarding cashflow. If we go through tomorrow against Fenerbache, it would mean an extra home tie and 2.5M euros participation money for quarter finals. Would plug a good bit of the hole from missing out on CL play off round cash.
  16. Bennet wanted to change direction from what you talk about. Summer 2024. It took him too long to push for the change but he got there in the end. Austerity, real push for sustainability and indepndent CEO. I am not saying it would have been successful, but it was an option. Not seriously considered in the end because we want jam today. The irony is that I think we'll need to be patient with the proposed takeover as well. _---------- The support are NOT patient. Don't mistake repeated disappointed resignation, post latest failure, for patience. The support have been incredibly loyal but their, at times, unrealistic expectations have brought pressure to bear and contributed to bad decision making.
  17. Plan A didn't have a chance. No patience in our support. They obviously didn't help themselves but austerity (belated vision from John Bennett) with an independent CEO wasn't wanted. Plan B (proposed takeover) of which we have few confirmed details but many written words, has been presumed by many fans to be the instant hit that has us back where we belong. What if the US interests have a similar vision for the next couple of seasons, of cost cutting austerity and that we remain on the island between Celtic and the rest ? What we need to hear asap (still a fair bit away), is from the people involved and their plans. Then, see what actually transpires.
  18. We'll be fine then. We brought in a mammoth 810,000 for five players plus four loans in the summer past. We have all the deadwood listed in another thread. We might get a net 3 or 4 Million for them. Should cover the Cortes purchase.
  19. Our board are looking to interest the Americans with the 'The Banters Years' concept, for them to monitize. Eg. TV series.
  20. Many fans need some hard reality to help with setting expectation levels. For far too long we have been accustomed to zero patience, rip it up and start again. The support push for it, the board tend to go with it. The accounts illustrate it, year after year. Dream until it becomes a nightmare. And then we don't understand why.
  21. From the boardroom, to the dugout and onto the players, all their brains appear to be frazzled. Are we the Manchester United of Scotland or are they the Rangers of England? Years taking a JCB to dig the holes deeper and deeper.
  22. Where is the money coming to pay them off ? Add them to the list - Around 4M is earmarked for Cortes - Pay off for Clement and staff
  23. Thought the momentum, the Barry bounce might have lasted a little longer, but I was wrong. Can't say I am optimistic about the Europa League but you never know. Dead rubbers in the league, but little in the way of youngsters getting a chance. We aren't winning with experience. Give someone a chance.
  24. IIRC McCann was very clear in his message regarding what he wanted to do, how it was to be done and the timescale. (I presume it was DD who bought most of the preferential shares. He gets a decent dividend most years.) Let's see what any potential new majority shareholding group have to say. I could go through a series of questions and doubts but I'll wait until more detail comes from those who are reportedly negotiating with significant Rangers shareholders. The only way I think they make decent money is on a flip, on the back of league/competition restructure that increases our revenue very significantly. That would be about timing their run. The more Americans that get involved in European football, the more pressure towards such a change will be exerted.
  25. 1. How long did it take Celtic to go from basket case, pass through biscuit tin before becoming what they are today? 2. How long do you think it will take us (if we ever get there) ?
