Daily Record football writers were stenographers for spin-doctors
buster. replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Whilst we know of the in part co-ordinated efforts of some of the characters you mention, it would be unwise to ignore or even dismiss everything that comes from them. The past tells us that to concentrate metaphorical 'fire' on the messenger and brush the message aside hasn't served us well. At the same time, neither do you have to believe everything they say or enjoy the tone in which it is written. It's more about using a filter of sorts. That said, perhaps there is an interesting article to be written about some of the messengers associated with Greenslade and their seemingly co-ordinated approach to matters Rangers........with a second part that covers the RTC blog, how it developed and how some of the messengers & associates were involved. -

Not so much sinister but a process, after nuturing a past seed planted, very well marshalled and managed using ongoing circumstances and the Fourth estate to your advantage. Once the emotional investment is made and moreso if you can tie in an angle that involves Celtic, then you've hooked someone who will blindly follow the line until in this case, Feburary 2012. I'll give you 'sinister process' They ain't called the 'dark arts' for nothing -

The worry is that it is an ever increasing trend due to it's effectiveness (if done well). eg. Accountability is becoming old hat, why resign when you can call up the spin-doctor to counter-attack. PR people like Irvine are considered successfull but essentially they are often advising on how to best mislead and lie for those who take advantage of average punters. -

The heavy use of spin at Ibrox goes back to SDM bringing Jack Irvine in. As you know, spin isn't only about X on any particular day. It's also about mind-sets that are cultivated overtime and in our case, the push to confuse and divide....making life much easier for those upstairs. The above was one of the main reasons why our support not only swallowed initial reports on CW (understandable) but continued to lap up the bullshit and defend someone that could easily be shown to be 'dodgy'. He even had largely unstinting support after the Ticketus articles and the BBC programme on his directorship ban. Then it all started again with Green&Co. Not having an "Open Mind" was in good part down to years of spin and a cultivation of a mind-set, using the ongoing circumstances to your advantage. Not forgetting the Fourth Estates willingness to co-operate. -

I think some of the issues talked about apply to much of our news at various levels in todays society. Real and/or investigative journalism is becoming a rare commodity. The Fourth Estate is partly becoming more a tool for the 'powerful'. As far as we are concerned, Spin has and is playing a larger part in communications between the club and fans than the 'truth'. Mislead not Inform Fog not Transparency Spin not Scout -

Israel have been carrying out a slow-burning genocide of the Palestinians and their land for some time now and as walls and improved technology 'control' the terrorist threat from Hamas, they can become more hardline. What is "terrifying" is the relative silence of others who should be holding them accountable.

Let's be honest, it's all about making as much money as possible and in general the football supporter is targeted by 'business' as a customer who can be charged top whack but be given cr@p. Merchandise, food, at Ibrox you can add the football. It's little wonder sp.ivs are now looking at football clubs and at Ibrox you have Sports Direct in control of Rangers Retail and the olddonkeyburgers plus Coke at 7.50.

Sometimes 'truth' or a 'reasonably accurate analogy' is uncomfortable for or perceived as nauseating by an individual. In this particular case, I find the ongoing slaughter of thousands of innocents and efforts to deflect blame as 'nauseating'. I certainly can't understand any objective and rational person who was quite obviously and rightly disgusted by what the Jews suffered back in the day, not being disgusted at what is happening to innocent people in Gaza.

They have their claws in and a relatively high percentage of the Blue Pound will be making it's way to spi.vland. Rangers probably have to turnover something like twice as much as pre-sp.iv times, to have the same money staying within the club / going to football operation.

The different categories will enable what is intended to be in good part a propaganda tool, claims to be made that it is representative of the general support. Transparent Boards who truly and sincerly embrace engagement answer e-mails from large fans groups with a considerable number of shares (RST). Let me say that this is a 'plastic token' designed in part to marginalise 'awkward fans groups' and conceived at a time when Jack Irvine was the man who was in charge of communications strategy.
-
Don't Go DB..........this is a case of an attemped light hearted remark (connected to yesterdays post) being 'Lost in Translation'. My old Gran used to say to me "Don't buy bullshit then KB humour"..........which brings me back to the proposed 'fans board'. A pro-board agitator on FF (Applepine) who was obviously fairly high up or connected to such told us on the 5th of January about some of the details of how the membership scheme would be shaped, ie. fans meetings with the manager and others with the CEO. This was before any questionaires went out. His thread was called "Communication & Engagement"... He forgot to preface the title with 'Plastic'. RST don't get replies to e-mails but the board are heavilly committed to 'engagement', honest !!
-
Those Law of averages (re.DB) just ain't kicking in
-
Probably (and that comes from someone who has been known to be a sceptic of occasion !!). However I'd estimate that several already are and I'd be surprised if the 'several' didn't together attempt to push in a certain direction when it came to certain matters.
-
Relatively speaking, this is fairly 'normal'. Sandazza / Tommy the Taxi-driver / Crank call / Sacked / Pay-off.............was further up the scale.
-
Covert Board Mission Statement regards fans membership scheme/board:........... "Raise cash, marginalise awkward fans groups and use as a perceived mandate from the support."
-
When you are waiting for calls/offers from agents and someone makes up jackanory on your and others behalf.
-
Regards the allocation of dwindling cash reserves. Follow the money and you see where the priorities for the board&associates ly. 1. Maintain Executive Control 2. Reward those directly involved 3. Keep 'awkward fans/questions' at arms length (Discredit UoF) / Try to sell ST's. 4. Nuture Confusion, Division and sow seeds for latest 'comfort blanket' to marginalise dissent (fans board) 5. Football Operation (Strategy=Hope for Best)
-
Yes, but you can only do that if you have cash and given the current finances, this now has to be considered/factored into these type of situations. It would certainly be an issue regards McCoist because of the numbers involved.

My guess is the club hadn't insisted on his presence as they wanted him to find another club. That there hasn't been much interest willing to pay him as much as or more money than he is currently on and Rangers have told him to get his arse (would prefer to see the g/f's) back to Scotland. May end up being a part pay-off / inducement to have him accept offer X, Y or Z........ or back in the squad (probably last resort for all concerned).
-
He has made a dubious career out of associating himself with what many regard as'dodgy geezers', helping them take advantage of the system and leave various levels of chaos and out of pocket punters in their wake. It's an indictment of how UKPLC operates that he is considered successful when he and his MO should be consigned to the underworld trash. An example of another of Jack's clients. http://citywire.co.uk/new-model-adviser/keydata-victims-ask-who-is-stewart-ford/a413832

We aren't a normal football club anymore....."Bizarre" has become our staple diet. Regards Peralta, I think the proviso is probably that he or an agent finds a new club. Footballers wage, supposedly 'stuck' in Paris with the bird Not bad if you can get it........... Thing is, I can't see a queue of clubs lining up to take what is an ordinary footballer. It's not as if he's in demand after an outstanding season, he was ordinary in the Scottish third tier.

There is a saying that you can't kid a kidder. When SDM claimed to be duped, he was actually in the process of duping anyone that would listen. Regards the information that was being pushed back in 2010/11, you had SDM and CW with Jack Irvine in the middle. A cocktail so toxic that chemical weapons engineers were rumoured to be monitoring the situation.

SDM isn't just another piece in the jigsaw. He is the single most important piece and overtime was joined by many more. He was responsible for kicking off what seems an never-ending nightmare. I'd love to see a public enquiry that got to the bottom of it all but won't hold my breath waiting on one.
