League Cup Draw : Falkirk v Rangers/ICT (plus seeding talk)
buster. replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Had the fact that we were able to set up an away friendly against Derby County on the same date anything to do with it ?....ie. rather than look for alternative venue. Derby who were beaten by Queens Park (1-2) Rangers in last seasons play-off -

If you look at it today then it has never been in a more dangerous place wrt to numbers. I think this will be best illustrated with imagery of empty seats at both Ibrox and Parkhead this season. When as a nation your clubs become European Summer canonfodder and the number of supporters who have never seen Scotland qualify for a major championship increases steadily,.... it's little wonder that they don't fall for the Scottish version of a sport that is charaterised by mediocrity (I'm feeling generous) from the media coverage to the on-field performance. -

Most of the current exodus will be made up of those who have 'changed' their habits, which is often a difficult step to take. It's a dam sight easier for 'future generations' to simply miss out the Scottish Football stage. -

Trying to arm another stoshie which makes for easy 'journalism'. There is precedent for this in UEFA competition and besides if Rangers were to beat ICT and qualify for the 3rd round then they would only be taking the place of the seed, who they had beaten on the pitch. -

The drip by drip method of fading away as a competitive force in the game (beyond the Scottish border). Taken alongside the decline in the Scottish club game it will gather pace and future generations will tend to look elsewhere for their sports kick. -

I don't think any of our fans desperately want an insolvency event. However it's a sad day and hellps illustrate our plight when it's even being considered as a possible (very risky) step on the way to a more stable club that is not run for the benefit of others. What I think is being layed bare, is the difficulty of the apparent situation today. This in part is regarding the lead weights that the club is carrying in the way that our financial dealings have been set-up and the agenda of those currently in and around the boardroom, ie. running the club as a means to extract money (even when lossmaking). Some consider that the club need to build from a solid base because as it stands it is built on sand and faces the prospect of limping on and basically going quickly downhill with Scottish football in general. Currently, the 'golden ticket' of a Rangers friendly takeover by way of Mr.X buying sufficient shares would seem to be unlikely and here is one of several places where the consideration regards impact of a potential insolvency event is important. The sp.ivs have engineered a situation that will have various options dependent on the route we go down. They have been ahead of the game all the way through and with executive control I doubt it will be changing anytime soon. This means either longterm suffering for the club as a whole as we effectively pay a 'sp.iv tax' on revenue generated... or... some kind of takeover which means Mr.X will have to dig very deep into his pocket before starting to address infrastructural/football operation issues... or ...a takeover that comes at an ongoing price (eg.S&LB of Ibrox) ..or.. a combination. Basically when sp.ivs get their claws in, they aren't going to let go until they can maximise their position and there will be more pain to come. I think the sp.ivs would prefer it to be a bit on the "Chinese Water Torture' drip by drip method where they stay in place to make the most of 30,000 turning up at Ibrox, an Ibrox that will eventually be sold. Not forgetting the fanbase as a whole, eg. Merchandise / Sports Direct. Good options that can be considered realistic are scarce. That is where we are. ----------------------------------------------------------- Another question regards a possible insolvency event would be, RIFC or TRFC ? As it stands TRFC seem to be where the debt is. Cashflow problems are at RIFC. Perhaps a Financial Bear could give us an opinion or simply explain how he sees it. -
I take it you are talking about 2001 when we beat them 6-1 on aggregate. Since then Maribor have played Scottish sides 3 times (Hibs 2010, Rangers 2011, Celtic 2014) and haven't lost any of the 6 games involved. Scottish football is exposed for what it has become when it comes to Europe. Many have waxed lyrical about the 'reivigorated game' in Scotland but they hold their weish during the summer qualifiers as our canon fodder look out their passports, usually once. Motherwell, the team who have finished second had gone 7 games in Europe without scoring before they played an Icelandic team this summer, they scored but still went out. Hibs have won one out of their last 12 European games, but still lost the tie. Their last game was a home defeat to the tune of 0-7 to the giants of Malmo. Dundee Utd, a team who once did well in Europe have lost their last 5 European ties. Hearts have lost 4 out of their last 5 ties.

They have fecked up with both of their managerial appointments. LVG is another mistake and I said that weeks ago, not based on recent games. The English press will gradually get on top of him after an overly respectful and reverent welcome.

Karma for what is a cr@p team....just a pity it wasn't next season and they didn't have a year to go through transition. Ronnie Must Stay !!!!

As if I know the exact figures from the varying contracts. This is like when back in the day, posters asked for a precise breakdown of how money were being sucked from the IPO funds. It's asking the impossible that if not provided somehow is judged to prove the argument of asker. It's an argument for the 'Blind Loyal' that can't or don't want to see what is happening. It is for the 'usual suspects' that followed your Craig Whyte, your Charles Green and your Jack Irvine Spin. It's not very bright and shows an unwillingness to learn. -

Put it another way. Possibly the only way we would have a chance of being able to build a solid base and not having to play with a metaphorical 9 men or pay an extra metaphorical layer of tax called 'onerous contracts'. -

They would seem to have him over a barrel unless he was willing to push hard for timely repayment, even if it meant the club having to sell the corresponding secured asset. Would be a convenient way for the sp.ivs to head towards an insolvency event regards 'finger of blame'. -

They wouldn't try to mislead anyone. That 80M offer 'rumour' was later proved to be pure make believe just as the huge investment into Rangers. Toxic earning his corn by misleading. Think Toxic, McMurdo, 50M Blue Pitch investment, after qualifying for CL. Note Always leave a qualitative get-out, eg. "If they succeed in getting a buyer at that price" / "after qualifying for CL" -

Green has always been a fan of that tactic (the threat). Think growing potatoes at Bramall Lane and something similar he said to John Brown back in the summer of 2012. He has a case of Rangeritis because he's made a pile of cash out of us and probaly continues to do so. The day he doesn't, he won't give a fcuk if we continue or not. -

Easdales looking to launder their image...........................difficult job, even for the bespoke spin doctor of the dodgy. Last time they were looking at the back of Jim McColl it was with metaphorical sharp kitchen implements in mind. -

No, but that's where part of any new money would have to go unless loans were renegotiated. Wouldn't look good for potential investors or creditors patience. Thus far in we've had Wallace's requests for investment being received with a NO. And on the other side of the sp.iv divide, we've had Green et al spinning kites of bull. Looks like it will be going to the wire. There should be news sent to the markets on the day the loans you mention, are due to be paid by. -

I wouldn't be surprised if the sp.ivs put money in, secured on assets and then went about sucking as much of it out again as possible aswell as the positioning of assets. -

I very much agree that the immediate present is what is important. I used the CL qualification as an illustration rather than a serious projection. Note 1. The 120 day business review (known elsewhere as 'buying time and a pie-in-the-sky') stated the objective.... "Season 2016/17 - Target to be SPFL Premiership Champions and establishing the platform to be competitive in UEFA competition. In financial terms, participation in UEFA competition via Europa League or Champions League, provides access to a prize fund that is a multiple of that available in the domestic game. Rangers need to be playing in UEFA competition every season in order to obtain access to this substantial prize fund." Note 2. Regards the Pie in the sky, David Somers ate it and is looking for a restaurant that serves something more substantial, like a 'black hole'. As Richard Wilson said the other day, 120 days after the 120 day review nothing is really happening regards acting upon review. The main issue being the lack of working capital for the season, never mind addressing infrastructure. A Double Omnishambles (RIFC and TRFC) can't go on indefinately in this way. Bottomline is for every pound that goes into Rangers, a percentage of it will be sucked up into the trough where the benificiaries of the 'onerous contracts' and similar, all feed.....The club in part, is set-up and run to serve the interests of the pigs at the trough. This is part of the 'trick'......don't fund the 'onerous contracts' = not funding the club and thus becomes the ultimate emotional blackmail. This 'faultline' runs deep and doesn't appear to be sustainable or indeed compatible with funding the football operation at a level that could compete for the CL group stages (ie.real cash). Reminds me of The Judas Blogger and his fairystories about Blue Pitch chipping in with up to 50M after Rangers make the CL again.
