  1. Here was me thinking that the club were cutting back on excessive player wages, although I don't know exactly when McGregor or his agent negotiated that figure and agreed to join Rangers. If you think about the situation, you are nearing 30 with a history of serious knee injuries and approaching the end of your contract. You are a run of the mill centre back at SPFL1 level, decent but not eye-catching good that English clubs have ever lined up in a queue to sign you, in fact you were still with Cowdenbeath in the third tier when you were 24. I can understand Rangers wanting a 'top tier centre half' to play in the second tier from which they want immediate promotion, fine. But why pay him 6K p/wk ? At St.Mirren he'd have been on how much ? I'd guess somewhere between 1K and 2K p/wk. Just say we'd offered 3,500, who would have offered more ? As for the way his contract is structured regards a second year kicking in after a certain number of games that he is available to play in. We could have the situation where his second year has kicked in and he gets another serious injury towards the end of the season. Now, it's probably this way because McGregor wants a resolution prior to January, so he has a better idea if he needs to look for another club, understandable but it seems all the concessions came from Rangers when they should have been holding the good cards. Of course there is another issue about him being played as right-back but another day.
  2. That's one of the possible reasons but then it's not as if many Bears will base their take on what he has to say. Different sources ? Source(s) playing him ? etc
  3. Here is a brief general outline of what may be going through the minds of Irvine and Bishop. - Ashely does deal / installs his man or men on the executive board (probably CEO) - Spin campaign regards new era / investment / new players / competing with Celtic at the top / Champions League - ie. Give Hope to those who need to hear it and will want to believe - tangible sweetener to show will and create momentum / possibly a new manager - continued spin / headlines about new players / sell STs and merchandise Therafter - sob stories about players who got away / need for youth followed by the road to no-where................ --------------------------------------------------------------------- ie. They think they can spin enough gulible fans the line to keep the numbers worthwhile for SD. Meanwhile further nurturing the division and creating the 'Real Loyal Bear' who will continue to spend their money.
  4. Things will have to move more quickly than that because of the various deadlines looming.
  5. Better than I expected but neither is it any kind of result. Interesting and worrying that Ashely would seem to be ignoring him.
  6. IIINames appears to have 'flipped' a few weeks ago. Now that could be down to one of various possible reasons.
  7. Richard Wilson @RichwilBBC "Long statement from Dave King. Will post, but in essence has provided all requested information and is still intent on providing findkng" "Key par" "In any transaction of this nature there are a number of interests to be consulted and considered. "The board has apparently engaged constructively on our proposal while advancing its own points as to what it believes is in the best interest of the club and its shareholders. Sandy Easdale has similarly apparently engaged constructively including highlighting some concerns. I have today responded to these concerns in writing. He will now consult with his co-shareholders and hopefully revert soonest so that we can proceed to agreement and the earliest possible implementation thereof." https://twitter.com/RichwilBBC
  8. Proof of funds, ironic.....................Sir Duped/CW.......Irvine involved Fit & Proper, ironic........................CW / Easdale..........Irvine involved Not naming individuals, ironic........CG&Co.................Irvine involved The Judas Blogger........................................... .............Irvine involved Ripping the p**h Was there nothing from McLaughlin or Lamont on BBC ?
  9. Yes, I reckon the cast list will be longer than Corination Street from start to present day. Poor Moshni, naebody cares
  10. I'll pay for his taxi to the airport.
  11. Whilst on this, it's been noticeable of late (last week or so) that many media outlets have pointedly made reference to all the details regards numbers and how the DK Tax Case was settled with the SA authorities. I think it points to correspondence from Toxic Jack being sent to various meda outlets with such detail layed out very clearly. Let me make it clear that I'm not pretending it (taxcase and subsequent settlement) didn't happen or am I saying the media shouldn't go with it. I am saying that it shows the media up in a bad light, that this publicly available detail wasn't reported clearly at an earlier juncture and seemed to require it being fed to them which in turn allowed one side 'tactical timing' regards said detail. As for your point DB, I'm not sure what it was but am not in a rush to find out.
  12. Do you believe that DK&Co have 'dishonest or profiteering intentions' regards their present negotiations about Rangers ?
  13. They are starting to rip the p**h out of us rather more blatantly.
  14. Seems as if he changed sources at some point in the second half of the summer. Certainly sucking on the Toxic slant these days. I'd see this as almost encouraging.
  15. As I've said before, the dropping of the term "Champions League" into the general lexicon on a particular issue was a devious and clever spinning tool that has a soothing effect regards opinion on any prospective Ashely involvement. However it jumps straight from the our present situation and places us in the CL group stages without telling us how this would happen and how it would be funded. A lazy media tend to then use it and help the spin gain credibility and for many it becomes accepted fact. Green was more blatant regards his "staying until the CL music was playing at Ibrox" but it fed duped supporters intoxicating sweeties and mental imagery.
  16. No-one is coming to pump in tens of millions for philanthropic reasons but the main difference between King and the rest is that the former would run or have run the business with the club in mind whilst the latter would be doing so for profit that would leave 'in their pockets'. That is to say, run as a football club and not as a corporate vehicle to profit from. Regards the CV and his tax offences from SA, they are now settled. Unlike Rafat Rizvi who is still 'wanted'.
  17. I think you have to differentiate between King and the likes of Green/Ashely in that the broad intentions are very different. That isn't to say that the intended route from A to B will be a smooth one or that to make it a more viable & less expensive proposition, DK wouldn't be prepared or see as the best option, to tread a risky and unpleasent path. We are where we are and there is no easy route back, if there is a route at all.... The likes of Green / Ashely would take us on the route to destruction / no-where.
  18. The irony is that with a McMessi it would have worked. For all the millions and millions of words that have praised Barcelona over the Guardiola reign, Messi in his pomp was well over 50% of the reason it was so successful.
  19. Let's look at what actually tends to happen,........the vast majority go backwards. That reality certainly isn't a requirement of a Rangers manager but has been balanced by throwing money we don't have at the perceived solutions that actually tend to firefight rather than build any secure base. The overall equation was generally similar when Walter Smith was in charge but differed in that his management added a significant amount to coming out with a short-term positive result. When you lack the managerial skills within that equation, then to come out with a positive result, you'll need extra finance, which we don't have. This is a problem that we've had for many years and needs to be addressed or we aren't viable as a business.
  20. Yes,..... if indeed they stay in charge. I think for it to work for the sp.ivs, they'd need Ashely 'on board' / supporting them / propping them up. 1. Auditors sign off 2. A base to optimistic spin going forward 3. Some finance to give fans an early sweetner and change momentum 4. Keep spinning next springtime regards "assault on top tier" and "new players" 5. Take ST money in. If Ashely was in with them, the spi.vs may have to accept reduced margins regards 'money out' but we get into very speculative territory.
  21. A comic interlude with several different ways of relating the video to our situation. Monty Python-The Black Knight
  22. Yes, but boadly the objectives stay the same and have to be paid for.
  23. The strategy that came from the Long Business Review stated that it needed between 20M-30M of investment during the next three years and that would have been over and above the ongoing revenue streams. If it was serious regards it's objectives, then you'd have been looking for this investment to be mainly 'frontloaded'. To change business model to a more sustainable version there needs to be money spent on paying off X & Y and on infrastructure. Not forgetting the money required for maintaining the stadium. In short We need piles and piles and piles of dosh to get back on the road to somewhere.
