  1. Yes, the US angle is simply a known unknown for us punters. Any agreement(s) will probably have an NDA attached, so the mystery may stay that way. Regards Dave King, there was a couple of false dawn's regards the attempted uncoupling of the SD legacy issue. It looks to me as if he relished the challenge of taking on Ashely / SD and got his (our) fingers burnt. The new contract we signed with Ashley didn't do what we announced it would do. Ultimately, taking on the expensive Ashely legal juggernaut wasn't wise. Even when we had a good morning in court (Justice Smith/London), King bigged it up with journalists at the lunchtime and the first thing Justice Smith said in the afternoon session was that King had been too hasty.
  2. Not many of our Academy players are bald.
  3. We have to increase revenue medium to long term. That requires investment. Not allocating more money to the Playing budget has consequences but the board need to look further ahead, as well as the present.
  4. Generally, we have been prolific with bullish statements but it hasn't often finished well. The Ashely episode being a long term example that loosely mirrored the 90 minutes last week against Liverpool.
  5. Aye, but "perfect opportunity", only if you can adequately replace him.
  6. It is all about timing. Regardless of the past, when the red flags wave, you shouldn't ignore them. ie. look very carefully at situation, projections of where this is going and consider options. Accross the City when they imploded from the inside, Lawwell said that they kept Lennon because of loyalty and past success. It was a mistake that played into our hands. Regardless of the past, he was taking them no-where. Five years ago in October 2017, Pedro left the building and we were left in semi limbo until the following summer. Graeme Murty came in as caretaker and was replaced before the end of the season. Going back further to the end of 2005, Eck was struggling badly and at the sametime qualified us for the KO stage of the CL !! Sir Duped announced his support for him in December, Boyd was signed and Lovenkrands started a goalscoring run that improved things until the faultlines were exposed in a 0-3 tanking from Hibs in the Scottish Cup. The support were unhappy and Sir Duped told them Eck would be gone at the end of the season. Two very different replacements Steven Gerrard and Paul Le Guen. One with multiple League winning experience and the other a rookie manager.
  7. Looking forward to it. ps. Can admin @Rousseau change the spelling in the title, it is doing my nut in ๐Ÿ˜€
  8. I remember reading somewhere that VAR improves the percentage of correct calls on the areas it has influence over from low 90's to high 90's. I can't remember if the data used was from only England or a larger group of countries. The general incompetence of too many Scottish officials will surely simply extend in to the VAR environment. I very much doubt they'll have as many camera angles to look at as say, the EPL. But, it should mean the blatant stuff gets picked up. Statos get ready for penalty and red card trends ๐Ÿ˜ƒ The media will be geared up to jump on whatever VAR events go down this weekend. Will VAR be geared up to see Kyogo (or whatever his name is) taking a dive ? Will it settle down and work function to a reasonable degree after initial chaos ? I don't think Scottish football is really geared up to let it.
  9. I'd sacrifice the League Cup on Wednesday if we brought in a decent new manager on the back of it. Although I'm not sure decent managerial candidates will be forming a queue to take this side to Naples.
  10. Has slipped by without much apparent attention. I guess, not many know many details of what has actually been going on. Somebody might ask a question at the AGM. Any comment ? @forlanssister
  11. Le Guen was the only Rangers manager who recognised what Adam could bring and used it.
  12. GvB can't afford another severe doing. Whether playing Tav actually helps his cause is debatable. If the Georgian winger plays then I would prefer someone who was fit. Not to mention that the more Tav plays, the worse any injury will get.
  13. Andrew Shinnie came through at about the same time as Craig Halket. The brother of Graeme has had a reasonable career. Both have been called up to the Scotland squad. Andrew actually started a match against Luxembourg. Ross McCormick had a few appearances for Ranges and even scored an important Champions League group stage goal, but we released him around 2006. He would go on to cost eight figure transfer fees twice.
  14. Wouldn't judge him on yesterday. Opposition were terrible and had the penetration of Sebo with a hamstring tear. Same for the Tillman goal. The defending was schoolboy like.
  15. Tillman brought the necessary to the game to get the 3 points when no one else looked like doing so. It was also notable how much he got involved in the rough and tumble. He seemed determined not to be kept on the periphery and although he wasn't very good at it, it signalled a willingness.
  16. That almost guarrantees a 1-0 (Cove) Rangers have already beaten Dundee 3-1 earlier in the month ๐Ÿ˜„
  17. I think it was more that the free kick just too well placed/lucky than a a huge error from McGregor. Wouldn't completely excuse the keeper though and he is collecting a fair collection of errors over the last few games. Goalkeeper has become a problem position. Not really a huge surprise and another position where the thought process behind squad management didn't make much sense. The worst effort of a save that I have ever seen came at almost exactly the same place as the McKinstry goal entered the net. Cammy Bell in 2015, I still shudder at the thought of it.
  18. I would share a degree of that surprise but wouldn't be amazed. We surely can't be as bad as today, especially for the home games. Most of the diddy clubs are worse than ever this season. Relatively, as bad as we are in our CL group.
  19. From a couple of days ago Rangers withdraw from American court case as Ibrox board bid for Kyle Fox damages ends RANGERS have withdrawn their legal action against an American businesswoman who was seeking to strike a multi-million-pound share purchase and investment deal. The Ibrox board instigated proceedings against Kyle Fox and KRF Capital amid claims that she was attempting to โ€˜trickโ€™ investors into thinking that stakes in RIFC plc were for sale with the blessing of the top table that is headed by chairman Douglas Park. rest of article behind a paywall https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/sport/23050729.rangers-withdraw-american-court-case-ibrox-board-bid-kyle-fox-damages-ends/ ------------------------------------- Something else from 4 days ago BARRY SCOTT has resigned as a director of the Company to pursue his other business commitments. The Directors wish him well in those endeavours. https://www.rangers.co.uk/article/rangers-international-football-club-plc-update/4Gr5hBr2Dz0zVJSdMzVtRY
  20. When you see nothing but defeats in so many age groups to Hibs, it flags up that something isn't quite right. Minimum that Hibs are ahead of us. I'd imagine we are better resourced than Hibs academy.
  21. Thanks Do you have any thoughts on why that may be ?
  22. Liverpool beat Manchester City 1-0 Keeps things more interesting. Haaland cannae dae it in the big games !
  23. Elfideldo, what is your take on how things are going with Youth Development ?
  24. 19/10/22 LEC Rangers 20 : 15 Dundee 22/10/22 PRE Rangers 15 : 00 Livingston 26/10/22 UCL Napoli 20 : 00 Rangers 29/10/22 PRE Rangers 15 : 00 Aberdeen 01/11/22 UCL Rangers 20 : 00 Ajax 06/11/22 PRE St. Johnstone 12 : 00 Rangers 09/11/22 PRE Rangers 19 : 45 Hearts 12/11/22 PRE St. Mirren 12 : 30 Rangers It is a funny old game. Thats FOUR League wins in a row with a good opportunity to extend the run all the way to the WC hiatus. Add on the distinct possibility of reaching the semi-finals of the League and lets just forget the Champions League. Only two domestic away trips in that run, both in November at the two Saints, Johnstone and Mirren (Derek would have been happy for a go of Helen back in the 70s). Three at home, Livingston next week then Aberdeen and Hearts. You could look at that as a positive or you could just say that it shows how poor the Scottish Diddy club level is these days. I guess both are true. I reckon that if you dropped our current side into the top flight of the early 80's, we'd be struggling for a European place. The Sheep visit Glasgow post our away trip to Napoli and on paper is the toughest fixture. That'll be the second game against Aberdeen scheduled post CL away match. We are lucky it was the trip north that was postponed. Even at Ibrox, if we play anything like today, we'll struggle to take anything. We'll need to up the preformance level considerably for the away games in November as well. Both Saints will provide a stiffer test than today. We were just less shit than Motherwell today. Hearts at Ibrox might be the easiest game. If they continue dropping like flies, they might only have 9 fit players by the 9th of November. I better keep quiet on that, we might not have a centre half by then. Rotating the team becoms more difficult as the options diminish. This in turn will mean more wear and tear for those available and the increased probabilty for more injuries and/or playing with injuries. It all starts on Wednesday with a League Cup quarter at Ibrox against Dundee #Free_The_Yilmaz
  25. Soccerway has a league game between City and Arsenal being postponed this coming midweek. Any idea why ? edit. Found it. Rearranged EL game for Arsenal. Of all the games to have postponed, it is the one that many are waiting on.
