Are you saying he lied to the Newcastle support when he bought the club ?- 27 replies

Quiz ? The Falklands War was declared. The UK joined the EEC. Jim Baxter moved from Raith to Rangers. Couldn't resist DB, only lighhearted.

I agree with trying to disrupt his business interests as it is taking a step towards speaking the 'pounds & pence lingo', both directly and indirectly . But to get there, I think they have to step it up and encourage a similar dynamic at Newcastle.

I think that you have to consider the Ashely MO, his attitude to the support and how he uses spin-doctors regards the above. As I see it, the financial benefit to Ashely regards NUFC is accrued over time, mounts up and is significant. ie. the money he legally diverts from NUFC to SD through what some may term as 'onerous contracts'. He doesn't really care what supporters think aslong as enough keep 'buying shirts' or what other shareholders think because he has control (both NUFC and SD). He will use spin-doctors to deny, deflect or have published false flags of hope. He doesn't really listen and can't be trusted. Better to follow the money.

Rangers and Daniel Stewart - Troubles are Mounting
buster. replied to chilledbear's topic in Rangers Chat
Prior to the IPO, Charles Green wanted to bring in Daniel Stewart Ltd as NOMAD for RIFC but MM was very much part of the reason he didn't get his way. This was at a time when CG&Co were trying not to tread on too many toes as they wanted the IPO to go well. 'The Tale of Three Nomads' CG&Co eventually 'came back' and got his way. -

Apparently the 'consortium' that PM and DK are involved in has a wider base regards backers and there may be further info coming out later this week. Not much I know and I don't know nowt else. Take it for what it is or isn't worth and wait to see any developments this week. My interpretation is that more backers should make it 'stronger' and may attract more widespread support. I realise that we've been through the mill a few times (understatement of 2014?) and understand 'groundhog day' scepticism but people are trying to wrestle control away from the spi.vs. As we well know, the reality is a very complex financial minefield that the spi.vs have engineered and it's not easy unless you wanted to pay way, way over the odds....(and that's before you spend a pound at Ibrox). The broad Spi.v process will have various reincarnations with a change in MO/direction but always for the benfit of individuals, not the football club. We approach another 'change', times at which the spi.vs tend to be in a weaker position and are more vulnerable. That isn't to say there will be favourable change or that X, Y and Z are a ticket to dreamland but IMO the support should get behind the efforts to what is the priority, to break the spi.v stranglehold and at least give us a chance, rather than bending over for ever more.

Coming Soon:....'Ashely and the Vanishing Commercial Revenue' ??

The JJB deal also included a large frontloaded payment. Regards the "uncertainty", you can add a lack of control due to SportsDirect calling the shots on financial matters over Rangers Retail in the joint venture. -
Coming Soon:....'Ashely and the Vanishing Commercial Revenue' ??
buster. replied to buster.'s topic in Rangers Chat
Bottomline - Ashely is involved with football clubs to extract value. - His MO is crude but complex and prioritises SD over the football club. - He'll slash business costs so as to make possible his 'take' from the commercial revenue whilst trying to ensure near 'minimum services' to keep (gravy)train on the track. -
Just posted a thread on Gersnet.

Ashely is already wired into the commercial side of Rangers and has an almost embarrassing list of what some may call 'onerous contracts' and prospective or options for more. Let's go down South to the North of England and see if we can get a handle on his MO regards the commercial revenue at a football club where he has control. In the three years prior to Ashley taking over, have a look at how much of the 'revenue pie' that commercial income contributed to overall Newcastle Utd. turnover. (guide re. revenue tables below) MD: Matchday BR: Broadcasting CR: Commercial %CR/T: % CR of Turnover Figures are Pounds Sterling / Millions Pre Ashely .....................Turnover........MD........BR. ...........CR...............%CR/T 2004/05.............87.1..........35.3......27.9....... ..23.9.........(27%) 2005/06.............85.9..........31.5......26.5....... ..27.9.........(32%) 2006/07.............87.1..........33.6......25.9....... ..27.6.........(32%) Now have a look at some more recent figures with the Ashely/Sports Direct influence. .....................Turnover........MD........BR. ...........CR...............%CR/T 2011/12............93.3...........23.9......55.6....... ..13.8.........(15%) Brief Conclusion The Ashely MO regards football clubs would seem to mean that of the commercial revenue generated, a large percentage (around 50% in the case of NUFC) goes elsewhere, probably Sports Direct. The problem with doing similar (or worse) at Rangers is that the broadcasting revenue is miniscule in comparison and the MO isn't viable. Thoughts ? Link from where I got some of the info....Interesting article from November 2013. Given what you say Zap, I fully understand your position and action although would comment that it was the heid moderator that originally posted it on FF and it is still there nearly 7 hours later. I never saw the spi.vcream advert. Was the threat from the spi.vs or the brand linked with the cream ?

Different graphic that appeared on FF this morning . Feel free to use on social media and spread around !!

Probably at a time when the numbers involved have less zeros. A football club that was converted into a corporate vehicle, that is suffering the inevitable consequences of being kicked around and plundered for so long and playing in a League that is struggling to bring sufficient revenue into the game to stop the slide downwards. It would be about turning a corporate vehicle back into a football club, but at a relatively modest level and playing within a modest enviroment.

Rab, don't shoot your bolt too early. You might yet be able to maintain your 'consistancy'. keith jackson @tedermeatballs Bit puzzled by the BBC's Dave King 'denial'. Expect it will be cleared up soon enough. Insideman3 @Insiderman3 · @tedermeatballs A "small" pr guru has started his magic with this false denial and also fed a blogger info about GW bonus to deflect. Al Lamont (BBC) just happens to be one of Toxic's go to outlets.

I think the many awoke from their relative slumber on the politics upstairs at Ibrox thanks to the UoF/SoS constantly highlighting such and this had a definate effect come ST renewal time. However, I don't think going forward that supporters will adhere to an SoS "policy" as such, it's more that they listen to what's being said and consider it along with other matters that effect them, at the time of taking decisions.

Given precedent, can we expect the Proxies/Easdale/Irvine line to be transparent and honest about their stated intentions or position ? So in answer to your question, we would be unwise to take what comes out from that particular camp in regard to voting intentions in an EGM, if it were to actually happen. As I understand you are also infering.
-
They don't seem to care about being so blatantly in your face patronising towards the Rangers support anymore, as they think we're stupid and hope it just gets lost in the 'noise'.
-
Nae worries ! Ashely measures "achievement" in his bottomline and that goes to the heart of why Ashely would be bad for Rangers.
-
More and more will walk. Fans want to support a football team, not a corporate vehicle getting kicked around by spi.vs, intent on walking away with your money.
-
I wouldn't bet on it and neither do I want him or his SD at Ibrox. SD already have 'onerous contracts' in their favour which may prove to be lead weights going forward. If he controlled the club, he'd swallow up what he doesn't already have.
-
I think you'd find that "mediocrity", low relative quality and increasing his own margin is the Ashely 'bag'. It's all over his 'CV'.
-
I'll be surprised if an EGM takes place. I'd imagine there will be some kind of agreement made, fudged, people walk. Moving the chairs on the titanic in preperation for a 'new start' to be heralded in at the AGM.
