Celtic fans band together for new club Gers advert
buster. replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
I don't think many people will actually read the text of the advert in full due to both where they stand in the argument and the dull, boring, repetitive nature of the prose. Rangers fans:.......Have heard it before, think it's shite. Celtic fans & 'politised' neutrals:........... Have heard it before, don't need convincing. 'Unpolitised' neutrals:...........Not bothered and increasingly think Celtic fans have changed spots from paranoia to obsession. Journalist/Pundit:.......... Reads two paragraphs and knows he has ammo to call Celtc fans obsessive in lead-up to 'Old-Firm' match. Non football fan:........Turn the page Parting with 3,000 pounds to be further labelled as obsessives isn't a wise spend. -
Bit more info on it in this link http://www.gersnetonline.co.uk/vb/showthread.php?67623-Derek-Llambias-Undesirable-Connections-and-an-Uncertain-Future&highlight=

On the face of it,...it sounds encouraging but I'm like you SBS, I trust MASH and the Easdale block as far as I could throw them. As usual there seems to be no information flow from the club to the support. I don't really know what the situation is or see any links that may provide it.

On the face of it, that sounds encouraging but Mike,...............we need more information that that. Why not have our CEO fully inform us instead of Sky Sports.

I've already had my say on the individual but would like to say a word or two on the RFB as a whole. I agree with what you say Bluedell but would personaly qualify those hopes and aspirations with what I see as harsh reality. With regard to standing up to the club in a meaningful way and advancing on the fundamental issues of today and these last few years, the RFB has been set-up to fail or at least, will not be allowed to succeed. If in fundamental disagreement with the RIFC/TRFC board(s), the limit as to how far they could go would be to resign from their positions, individually or collectivelly. The latter wouldn't happen until it were too late. The main problem is obviously the RIFC/TRFC executive and the influences surrounding them. As it stands, in the grand scheme of the Rangers Soap Opera,....... the RFB are an irrelevance regards gaining significant metres but will be used by RIFC/TRFC where possible to further their respective interests. With this in mind we shouldn't invest too much hope in their political labours, nor take too much notice of what they do. Let them get on with their individual responsibilities and at least hope they do some good there. Not losing sight of where they might represent the club more than the fans.

It's like another contestent wants to enter the reality TV show 'Carry on Rangers'. -
They say there is no such thing as bad publicity but Rangers buck that trend. The club as it stands, hasn't a hope in hell of raising any significant cash through a membership scheme.

I never thought it would be anyone else. This game was always going to get what they consider as their best and most experienced referee.
-
This isn't personal in that sense, it's more about a representative on the RFB and what should or can reasonably be expected of them, regardless of his or her name.

I would imagine that the RFB would look for the trait of 'awareness' in their members regards what they do or say in public places, both in their duties connected to the RFB and personal views on Rangers related matters. I'd have thought that the representative working on Communications Initiatives in Social Media for the RFB would be expected to apply a reasonable degree of care and awareness regards their personal use of the medium, more especially on Rangers issues whether that be on behalf of the RFB or expressing their own views. Care Quite apart from any debate on her undoubted freedom and right to express a personal view, the question is whether it was wise of her to do so and if it could be considered as poor judgement. You can bat that back and forth. My view is that she is free to express her views but that it wasn't wise and should be considered as poor judgement given her RFB work on Social Media. Lack of Awareness Here it is more difficult to mount a defence. In the first message she names individuals and says that they "are all in it for themselves and their own public profile and TV dinner spot." Then in her next message she says that she is "really happy with the way the fans board is progressing though so that is a big positive for me". These two posts taken together display hypocrisy and a seeming lack of awareness that she has actually set herself up this way. This might be considered as nothing but here we have the RFB representative who is dealing with Social Media and Communication. She should at least be told to display more care, better judgement and awareness in the future. For context, I'll post up the passage displayed.

He is like a footballer who picks up a decent wage but hardly ever plays and when he does you don´t notice him on the ball, only making a fanny of himself by getting sent off for verbose industrial language. ...

Richard Wilson has an excellent grasp on the facts of the Rangers saga, probably better than any other journalist. To a degree he also provides balance where needed when the likes of Chris McLaughlin come on to give an exclusive and often slant from Toxic Jack. One to one RW would tear anyone of the others a new one if allowed and he would do so with calm reasoned facts and detail. Some of the others glean the outline of an argument from social media sites like TSFM and go with it but can often be caught out because they haven´t really done much in the way of deep research. IIRC English was involved in twitter a lot when the news of DK´s tax settlement came through and he decided to go with it and now pushes everytime an opportunity comes up. I guess he is looking for an angle to grab hold of in the Rangers narrative and it is easier than keeping up with new developments in detail. Spiers is the worst of the lot for this and is a pathetic excuse of a journalist who doesn´t really understand football that well, nor has ever bothered to try that hard. Irvine recruited him for occasional use when he started to do more BBC work. Only in Scotland would Spiers get away with being such a lazy fraud.

She seems oblivious to the fact that within two posts, she is setting herself up as such. Ironic that she seems to be involved in the social media proposal.

Paid off no doubt with a sweetner because I can´t think of many clubs who will be prepared to pay him the same wages.

Spiers has helped Irvine on and off now for the last couple of years. I reckon its simply the opinion of English and he can be a bit like a dug wi a bone.

Proposal for club to engage in fansgroup dialogue exclusively with the RFB. Answer to complaints: Send an e-mail Next-up: We don´t consider individual e-mails to be worth bothering about, even when it evident that the sender isn´t really a lone gunman.

Regards ACD comment This is an RFB that proposed to organize a communications committee wrt social media They said at the first meeting...." We have a responsibility as the RFB to conduct ourselves as such and using appropriate discretion and judgment" Interestingly enough looking at those minutes from the first meeting, they left the door open to denigrate those who are not 'elected'. As you say the reply was akin to having a 'lone gunman' theory despite there being video evidence that has a Brigade's compliment of men armed with automatic weapons. Glass Question It is my belief that the FB needs to publicly propose a vote of “no confidence” in the current Rangers Board. Failure to do so would see the FB being viewed as part of the problem, rather than part of the solution. If the FB does not have the stomach for this, then they should at least formally propose a motion of no confidence in the Club Chairman, whose performance at last week’s AGM was utterly disgraceful, indeed repugnant. RFB answer After discussion it was agreed that RFB’s role is not that of voting no confidence or otherwise but to represent fans overall and not one individual fans request ------------------------------------------------------ That discussion would have been interesting to listen to because I'm sure there would have been RFB input pointing to a large number of fans with similar questions, never mind shareholders who made their thoughts clear on the day of the AGM. However, there must have been more voices or more influential voices lifting up the carpet to sweep the question under. This suggests a reluctance to face-up to reality, an inability to read a situation, a majority in agreement with how board operate, influence coming from the club or a combination of the afore-mentioned. At the same time, I'd have to mention and welcome the statement on the issue of Ibrox/advance notice to secure loan. -------------------------------------------------------------------

We had the familar 'about to sell Newcastle Utd' line last week. Has that now faded away ? Any excuse to make the link,.....here we have a 117M sale to supposedly fund 10M.

A decent interviewer with knowledge of past could absolutely rip him to shreads. The only time he put himself up a difficult interview was when he seemed to be working his ticket. Sky sports is the equivalent to The Beano and Jim White isn't a decent interviewer.

Interesting to see lawyers descend on Gersnet so quickly after not to be mentioned untrue rumours surfaced this morning. Some might think it tends to back-up theories that certain individuals enjoy the 'protection' that a certain proxy block may offer.
