Rangers invite suggestions for the renaming of Auchenhowie

Auchenhowie -
Speaking tactics is above my paygrade,....I'm more old school punter / gut feel rant ,.... rather than the detail.

Agree with 'CF'. You could say RH included one too many central forwards (Rashford or Sturridge) in his squad and instead should have given himself another wide playing option, given he seems to like playing with a wide player...because Sterling has been poor and looks short on confidence. The problem now that Kane isn't firing (after doing well in the lead-up to the tournament) is that there are questions/doubts about who to start up front arising at an inopportune moment, ......unlike the days when Lineker was always good for 4 or 5 tournament goals. The Rooney experiment has gone reasonably well but you could also argue that to experiment with it so late in the day wasn't the best preperation and has contributed to the uncertainty of who to play up front.
-
Friendlies didn't feature much last season but it certainly didn't hinder what was a brand new squad, getting us off to a sustained flier. It seems to be how MW operates.
-
Re. Wales game No, you have to qualify first. Last night On the face of it, I think RH made a decision/gamble and partly lost. But As far as England are concerned now, they are in the next round and have the opportunity to show how good they are. IMO, Hodgson won't be the reason England won't win this. It's just that there are other teams who are better, especially Spain.
-
England scored 1 goal in their first match (draw), 2 goals in their second match (win) and 0 goals last night (draw). I don't think it worked (results driven business / competitive match ) and for all the pressure who had the clearest opportunities ? What's more, as soon as you saw that Walker and Rooney (Englands 2 best players so far) weren't playing, you see an England manager who in this particular game, seemed to, for whatever reason(s), prioritise squad mgmt., over the result. That squad mgmt. may benefit the team further down the line (perhaps there is an injury niggle or two we don't know about) and despite the bad press, I think England are well placed for their next tie when they'll be playing their first choice XI. All about opinions as they say..............
-
Trueblue It seems fairly clear to me 2015 1a. Put together mgmt team, who put together squad to win Championship. ............Done 1b. Start putting together footballing infrastructure to enable better value for money spent ............. in progress 2016 2. Put together squad to compete in top tier / qualify for Europe.................. in progress 2017 3. Improve squad for European competition when we get there ie. I'm confident that the squad that is being put together by this mgmt team will (this season), qualify for European competition.
-
Your a bit optimistic for a German, aren't you ?
-
The BIG priority is to get the footballing infrastructure at a level where it adds significant value without having to make significant financial gambles on player trading. The way the market is structured today means that there are a lot of players out there who you don't need to pay a transfer fee for or a relatively modest sum. Given circumstances at this moment in time we shouldn't even think about shelling out a relatively big fee on X.....unless it is within the managers plans and budget. ie. no signings to keep the troops happy / stop them moaning about not spending money. Value for every pound spent within a first class infrastructure where every layer adds Value. It's the only way that we can be both successful and sustainable.

Team selection is seldom not an issue if you change 6 names. It was Walker and Rooney that stood out and the Slovakian manager must have been dancing when he heard this.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/european-championship/euro-2016/schedule/knockout-stage Taking a hypothetical glance into an unlikely future. England could play France in the quarters and Germany/Itay in a semi-final....followed by a final against Spain !!! #tasty Or in other words, not winning tonight has cost them a place in the easier half of the draw. You have to question the team selection.

Cooncil TV in Spain show one game a day. Always the evening game, unless Spain are playing during the day. Won't be clear as to who Wales will be playing untill later in the week. Switzerland v Poland is a probable for the next round.
-
Last three matches I've watched have all finished 0-0 Second night in a row when three of the four sides playing haven't scored. Tournament is treading water and needs the KO stages for a bit of drama.

Stanley tell Rangers: ‘Duo can’t train until compensation agreed’
buster. replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Good to hear they can get started right away and stake their claims for first team football, waiting until July would have been a significant blow. -
Robby McCrorie is a goalkeeper Ross McCrorie is a defender (I think he's a right back) edit They appear to be twins according to their DoB on the official site.
-
If not involved in our squad, those who did well will probably be going back out on loan but hopefully at a higher level than before. eg. McCrorie could go back to Ayr as they have moved up a division and you'd hope that Hardie could go to a top tier side (probably in the bottom six) and get gametime.
-
Given how high the stakes are, I think we could start to see more changes to the predictions once team news comes in. ...
-
Was listening to an interview with Ian McColl (Ayr boss) and he couldn't praise Ross McCrorie enough for his professional attitude to the game whilst on loan at Ayr last season. It sounded as though he really meant it opposed to the usual standard throw-away line.

Club 1872 increase Ibrox stake to become 6th largest shareholder

When do Club 1872 get a seat on the RIFC board ? 6% of shares is a fair whack. -
Moaning Motherwell and Partick Thistle only have THEMSELVES to blame
buster. replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
The shared gate had been around for a longtime prior to the change and generally meant a more competitive league. We were able to remain reasonably competitive in Europe throughout that time. I get the argument against it. More especially because of the general direction football has since taken and specifically, match-day income is now such an important part of our revenue and shared gates would mean we couldn't hope to compete in Europe. Football used to be more sport than business (or at least it came accross as such). Now finance is all important and the powerful clubs control the set-up. -

Better to leave them to it and see how the situation develops. If you really want an executive voted onto the SPFL board, It's probably best not to fire the scattergun of criticism when it's not required. -
Glad to see he has got back in,........... good luck to him.
