  1. They have to operate in the real world though.
  2. His overall win % at Aberdeen is by far the best since Alex Ferguson. If he comes to Rangers then the OF reduces by half. You could bring in managers a lot better than Derek McInnes and as things stand, they would still get beaten by celtic regularly. If we use celtic games as the current litmus test, then we'll continue with at least two managers a season and by going down that road, we'll not build any foundation.
  3. Excellent win that was fully deserved. I expected Aberdeen to be up for this one but they struggled to impose themselves as we were faster and wanted it more. Looking at the sheeps results of late, the McInnes speculation factor seems to have worked in our favour wrt. second place. Red card was one that I'd have wanted had it been the other way about and it's doubtful to be overturned. Leaves us with the Home match against bottom six team to get to 3IAR games won. A different type of pressure that we desperately need to start sorting out.
  4. An 'audition' in the minds of some supporters whose memory must be emptied like my cyberbin, every 2 or 3 weeks. We'd probably be looking at 4 managers a year if some of these lads were in charge, which may end up meaning Murty is in charge longer than anyone else.
  5. Yes, there are a lot of better CV's out there but let's be having your names. They have to be 'viable' in financial terms. Also, realistic regards how Mr.X will objectively view coming to work in Scotland under expectation levels that currently can't be financially backed-up.
  6. The only two missing are British would be more accurate. Pena is arriving late, it's what he does....(but he is there)
  7. Good positive first half. Despite the defeat on wednesday, the sheep have a lack of clarity or ideas which points towards the McInnes factor playing a part. Win this and the long managerial chase will have produced a significant net gain for us wrt battle for second place.
  8. That is the main issue. If there is no other option then you have to play him but if Cardoso is fit, it doesn't make sense. Even if Cardoso wasn't fully fit, I'd be tempted to put McCrorie back in central defence and modify middle to front. ----------------------- Murty looking a bit nervous and edgy in that interview #BodyLanguageLoyal
  9. Cardoso on the bench, Bates without a first team minute to his name this season starts. --------------- Re. Alves: Murty says he picked up a knock on Wednesday and the ITK poster who first got the Alves absence out there, said it was a recurrence of the back injury....which ?
  10. It'll be a McCrorie landlside............do bookies run a book on this ?
  11. Just when we could have done with some continuity ! Can see the sheep being up for this one, irrespective of the McInnes speculation. I'd imagine they'll come out the traps with intent and we'll have some defending to do. Maybe today will see us have a better second half than first,...for a change.
  12. Re. MW and PC, don't you sink your own argument ? You may prefer the risk of failure, but because of circumstances and the probabilities, those on the board can't go down that path. Pedro Caixinha was in the wrong movie and the board were more or less chasing their loses when they bankrolled him in the summer. That isn't to say he was a bad manager..... or that some of our players were/are right in their attitudes/actions..........or that parts of the media weren't using him as a punchbag........but it's just pretty much how it was.....and for that matter, doesn't refect well on the Scottish game.
  13. Each individual can think and opine for themselves but the club have a duty of care and need to employ realism rather than a mentality that can't be backed up at this present juncture. They need to look for a way of addressing the gap and to give any structure a chance of growing, it needs a solid foundation. If there were circumstances and abundant finance that could attract a top manager and overhaul the squad with real quality in mind, then your apparent timescale regards expectation might be addressed, but there isn't.
  14. Looks as if McInnes is appointed, for some, his 'honeymoon period' might be over before it starts. I can get that some/many may prefer X to Y or a certain type or profile of manager, that will always happen........ but I think there is a lack of realism being employed by some regarding where we currently are as a club and the relative limitations that this entails. Aslong as expectation levels far outweigh what the football club can realistically hope to deliver, then long managerial appointment threads will crop up every year or so. The club should make an effort to paint an accurate picture wrt timescale and expectations for what seems to be already determined as a 3 year contract and give whoever the new manager is, the support necessary to fulfill them.
  15. According to oddschecker, 1/5 with Wm.Hill...= market still uncertain ie. level/weight of current speculation would seem to correspond with bookies not taking further bets....but they haven't all closed the book. So, maybe it isn't as cut and dry as some seem to think. For this game, it's important what the Aberdeen players know/think. They've not done well since speculation started. My guess is that regardless of speculation, their pride will have been hurt. One positive stat for them is that they have won the match immediately after their last 12 defeats.......13 unlucky ?
  16. I happen to share DK's view on this. You have to manage risk in difficult circumstances and I don't think that allows us to take a punt on an unknown from abroad that could be termed as 'viable'. It would be fair to say that it was down to the previous bad appointment (here DK/the board should own up to a major F-up) that now the risk factor is higher.....but if nothing else, learn from it and don't repeat the same mistake. There are certainly managers out there that would be better, but they aren't viable.
  17. IF we get a second win, there would be a good argument to suggest that the long managment chase and ensuing speculation has produced a net gain.
  18. I think it's the consistency of results that have brought the sheep several consectutive second places that make McInnes a better fit. That and the fact he already has hands-on experience of the demands that a Rangers player faces. Wright has done a great job in Perth and I'd prefer him to some of the 'sexier names' that have been mentioned. --------------- We have to realise where we are at present and how the manager market will perceive the Rangers job. Until we stabilize, re-build further and put ourselves in a position where we can actually challenge, rather than just expect to....then that will remain the case.
  19. There don't appear to be many and the obvious concern is if we were to approach Aberdeen/McInnes, that he said no.
  20. As you say, the need for stability and re-building means Advocaat would be very unlikely. Re. Stability: One of the positives about McInnes is that if he were to sign a contract, he'd more than likely, fully intend to see it out.......rather than be willing from the outset to use us as a stepping stone. He spent 4 years at St.Johnstone, got the team promoted to the top tier (something Owen Coyle hadn't been able to do). At Bristol City, he joined (in the October) with them bottom of league and kept them up. Following season went badly and he was sacked. People talk of mitigating circumstances re. state of club but I don't know to what extent they apply. He's been 4 years at Aberdeen and has built an effective sqaud on relatively little money, which is capable of a consistency that brings 2nd place. (Best win % since Alex Ferguson). Only one League Cup win. 10 years of management and only one sacking.
  21. For all those who don't fancy McInnes,...... name a viable candidate with extensive knowledge of the British/Scottish game that you would prefer.
  22. Express Journalist seems to be the latest https://twitter.com/Bruce_Archer89 Rangers set to make an approach for Derek McInnes after Sunday's match #RangersFC --------------------- If we do, be prepared to pay the compo up front (as the sheep would almost certainly insist upon),.... McInnes had better say yes.
  23. If the rumours have a solid base then how can the sheep allow him to take charge of the team on Sunday ?
  24. Some very positive percentages. Perhaps some of the 'Easdale Block' didn't bother voting on all the resolutions.
  25. Caution:...Let the lad have some air. Jamie Ness played an OF game at Ibrox where he reminded me of Baxter and then.......... edit ( footage of Baxter)
